DM Advice Sought -- Pathfinder Player Information

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

I've recently been given the opportunity to run a campaign again (after a two-year hiatus), and I'm looking at Rise of the Runelords.

Since it's set in a new setting, I've been looking over the books to see what can be handed to the players "as is." Obviously the player's guide and obviously not the adventures.

But... are there parts of the books (or PDFs, actually) that are meant to be printed and handed to the players directly out of the sourcebook?

What information have you DMs handed out "as is" and what information have you edited to hand out to your players?

Thanks in advance.

Dark Archive

Well, I gave them the Player's Guide. And the First Pathfinder summary. I also typed up a quick summary of the campaign world's flavor, what I was and was not allowing (base races, plus a few others, Core+PHBII+Complete-except-most-of-the-spells-save-for-one-or-two-really-si mple-ones.)

Every few sessions, print out a pathfinder Journal from the PDF and give it to them, telling them that a new issue has been published in the game world.

I suppose you might let them read the Varisia article in #3, that seems pretty free of spoilers.

Within the Adventures, there's plenty of player handouts that can be printed out and handed to the players. and there's a few more things that you can make yourself (the blood-covered note from Aldern in Skinsaw Murders, Tsuto's Journa;, if you can draw;)

- I handed the Desna writeup to a Varisian ranger PC

- I handed the Magnimar writeup to a Sarenrae cleric PC, deciding there's be some temple there.

- I handed an abridged version of the "late unpleasantness" to the hometown PC, as well as the rumours around town.

I'm waiting for the other players to decide what to play, and I'll probably be handing some additional info based on that.

I handed out the sandpoint article with one or two sentences blacked out with magic marker. Oh and the player's guide. Depending on when you start, the upcoming gazetteer and campaign setting are supposedly very PC friendly
