But I shall have a quick looksy at any and all Eberron info I can get my hands on, I enjoy reading your writing and more opportunity to write with Actaris just makes it all the more tempting.
Excellent, I was hoping for a chance to game with you again.
Sim, would you like to go first?
Happy to, oh omniscient DM!

One thing, about the Alpha2 set, Sorcerers do not get the 'cantrips' ability. So, unlike clerics and wizards, they have to 'pay' to use 0-Level spells. You do, however, have your bloodline power at will.
Sorcerers do get cantrips, Jason has said it was an oversight - Several posts down here.

There we go - one brief twinlike background, scarcely exciting but that's their lives so far, they are still very young for half-elves!

Starlan "Wingy" Benex |

Dang! I had written up my background all nice, and then the board ate it!
anyways, I have all the skills mostly taken care of now,
So I'll just have to get the equipment taken care of, besides getting the B/G story written up again.
(I don't have stats for the Glidewing, either, do you have those DahN?)

The Glidewing is in the Eberron Campaign Setting, page 280 I believe. Would you like me to reproduce the stats here? It's not a problem!
Yay twins. Will you both be ready to start your mini pbp soon? I have an idea......

Starlan "Wingy" Benex |

@Dahn, that'd be awesome if you could link in the Glidewing stats...
I'll try and get his background and that 'day in the life of' piece you mentioned written up soon...
(one crunch question): I'm using the alternate "savannah druid" weapon proficiency list anyways (plus the rogue list), but would it be appropriate to substitute the Talenta Sharrash & Tangat for 'normal' weapons they're similar to, namely scythe and rapier/shortsword?????)
@Wolvenone I noticed a post on the PathfinderRPG board, that suggested Shifters might take a bonus Shifter feat when using the PF-RPG rules, which seemed to really work with their flavor...
@Fleck If your character is from the Shadow Marches and is at least friendly with the Gatekeeper Druids, we might want to work up a story about how we know each other... I might have given you a 'lift' to Sharn, or maybe we met in the Marches when I was studying with the Gatekeepers, and told you to look me up if you were ever in Sharn.

That's a great idea! Marla is from the Shadow Marches and on friendly terms with the Gatekeepers. (At least she was until the board ate everything I had written down yesterday evening ;_;) I've recovered most of it now and should be able to post the character shortly, only the fluff and bits of the equipment are still missing.
As for the 'lift', that would be a really convenient way for Marla to get to Sharn, but are glidewings strong enough? Marla alone weights 215 lbs. Add in equipment and the poor thing would have to lift about 300 lbs.
@Dahn: I'd like to take the 'Open Minded' feat (gives 5 additional skill points) from Complete Adventurer, is that ok?

I think Dahn's going to link in a real stat block on the Glidewings that I can use, but I read a bit about them that they "can carry several halflings riding them" which @ ~35 lbs each, isn't that much carrying capacity :-)
(I don't mind though, I love the flavor, & don't need to be flying in the Orcish Paratroop brigade...) I think they're basically slightly weaker than the MM Pteradons...As for the boards, I really notice it loses my posts (or profile updates) when I'm writing alot, i.e. spending more time... So either I can force myself to start writing all longer bits in a text editor and pasting in, or maybe we should switch to a better system (like Wolvy suggested).

Hey guys we could move the game over to Pen & Paper games. I've never had the board eat anything over there.
To be honest, I'd prefer to keep the game on Paizo. I'll go along with the group consensus, but that's my preference.
xdahnx, sorry its taken me a bit, but here's that description of a day in the life of Sim.
Sim’s day
Sim sighed as he exited the cluttered shop into the dim afternoon sun that filtered down through the gilded towers above and into the decrepit yet busy streets of Clifftop. He always enjoyed visiting the curio shop and its owner. It was a welcome relief from the his own troubles and questions to sit in the small shop crammed with all manner of exotic items and listen to the eccentric old gnome who ran the place tell of his younger days as an adventurer and soldier of fortune.
Checking the intricate golden watch he carried, Sim decided he’d best hurry if he was to be ready for the evening’s entertainment. He’d promised to meet a group of friends for dinner and he’d be damned if he missed the dark elf’s performance. He’d always had a certain curiosity about the mystery shrouded continent of Xen’drik so he was particularly looking forward to the night’s show. Skillfully moving through the crowds of outcasts, mercenaries, explorers Sim smiled slightly to himself. Two years ago he’d be happy just to have enough coin for a meal and maybe, if he was very lucky, a night at the Ten Torches theatre. Now, he was worrying about missing dinner and a performance at the Kavarrah Concert Hall. How things had changed.
Trying not to think about who he was, he composed himself, slipping with practiced ease into the familiar guise of Sillas ir’Vraxeris. Examining his reflection on a goblin driver’s shiny steel mirror (the little fellow could use to check it a little more often), Sim wondered if it really was a guise anymore. Sighing tiredly he looked out onto the city whizzing past he wondered whether he was Sim or Sillas now. Sometimes the line blurred so badly he couldn’t tell.
Getting off of the death trap of a sky coach, he tried to put such depressing thoughts out of mind and hurried up the marble steps to the Vraxeris Manor. He cheerfully greeted Tam, the butler, as he was admitted. He choose not to mention to the old man that, while he had indeed attended a lecture at the University as he had said he was going to, afterwards he had gone wandering in Clifftop. Unfortunately, few of his friends understood his jaunts into the less reputable districts. Besides, old Evick was infinitely more interesting than the pompous old dwarf who’d given the lecture on the history of the goblin empires of old.
A short while later, he arrived at the restaurant where’d promised to meet a group of his friends. He was only a minute or two late, and not the latest one either. As usual, that honor (and the bill for the evening’s repast) went to Maeder, the mournful-looking elf from the House Phiarlan. He entertained the party with an account of a talking raven who’d accosted him in Clifftop, following him and demanding a ‘bit of cheese’ and even had tried to convince him to take it home with him before it’s halfling master had collected it. He listened as Thervi told of her father’s troubles with the Daask, and, taking the tale with a grain of salt, one of the halfling Merreck’s exploits in Xen’drik. He was a fine man, but he could exaggerate. A dragon indeed!
For a while he only partially tracked the conversation, thinking on the friends he had made as his alter ego. It was nice to have friends who wouldn’t slit your throat for a purse of ill-gotten coins.
Sim doesn’t really have a daily routine, except for meeting with a group of his friends (which I might flesh out later on) to attend this performance or that lecture or this high society event. He spends an increasing amount of time (more than his mother thinks is healthy) wandering districts like Deathsgate and Clifftop.

Hey there, sorry to take so long to get back to you. Busy day at work!
The glidewing is here:
Glidewing
Large Animal
Hit Dice 3d8+9(22hp)
Initiative +2
Speed: 20ft, fly 80ft (average)
AC 15 (-1 size, +2 Dex,, +4 Natural), touch 11, flat-footed 13
Base attack +2
Attack: Bite +5 (1d8+6)
Space/reach 10ft/5ft
SQ: Low Light Vision
Saves: Fort +6, Ref+5, Will+3
Abilities: Str 18 Dex 15 Con 16 Int 2 Wis 15 Cha 11
Skills: Perception +6, Fly+6
Feats: Alertness, Fly by Attack
CR: 3
Carrying Capacity: A light load for a glidewing is up to 300 lbs. A medium load 301-600, heavy load 601-900 lbs. It can drag 4,500 lbs.
With a light load of 300 lbs, I don't find it unreasonable to have been able to carry you guys.
That being said, the Glidewing is a very impressive animal companion for a level 1 druid. Not only does it cost, in terms of buying one from a dealer, 800gp, it's a large creature at CR3. They're tough critters.
However, I'm willing to go through with it, as it's suitably impressive, and fits the cinematic qualities of an Eberron game. Also, a Large sized dinosaur won't be able to go everywhere that, say, a raven could.
@ Fleck:Open Minded is fine with me. Remember that you can only have 1 rank per level in Alpha 2.
@post losing. I've taken to writing everything in notepad or word or something first. even writing it in a new email in gmail will auto-save it for you. I think the issue is with timing out. There's a few wonky instances of timing out on these boards. If you all want to try a different board, we can chat about it, but I like the community here.

@arctaris. I was going to use the 'day in a life' thing to spring into the mini pbp that I will run with each character. you had a fair bit from your background that I could use, and so I went ahead and started this thread here.
Interesting to see what you wrote, and I will def. still use it! I like the idea of meeting with a core group of friends. Gossip is fun. If you would like to take it over to that thread, we'll work out some initial story, and lead into the matters that will connect you to the other players.

Thanks for the stats Dahn,
Yeah, I was aware that it was a little "over" the 1st level Druid list... I had hoped that the Nature Bond feat (from Complete Adv.) would be viable, since Glidewings seemed a reasonable fit for the 4th level list (amongst bears, alligators, etc.) although when I re-read the feat you get 3 bonus druid levels re: the companion, UP TO your total character level... (so basically it helps multiclassers somewhat, but I'm still only CL2)But anyways, I think I'll play it "as is" from the monster stats (without any stat bonuses a Druid Companion might get) up till I'm at a level when it'll fit in the rules 100% anyways... I do think it works out well atmosphere-wise, and it's main benefit (flying) isn't really that big of a deal when you can always hail a Sky Coach anywhere within Sharn.
I still have a bit more to add to his backstory (some stuff is up already), but maybe we can collaborate on a bit I had in my head, the Glidewing couriers being in competition/minorly harassed by the politically connected Dragon Houses with their Sky Coaches/etc...

Works for me. I've already got personalities for some of them so I'll work on fleshing them out a little and then I'll post them in Sim's profile.

Marla |

Ugh, I should stop posting things like 'saturday' or 'shortly', because sure as hell something will come up to spoil my time scedule. So here’s what I’ve got so far. It’s still missing appearance and background but I didn’t want to keep you waiting any longer.
You might be wondering about why I picked a picture of Amiri as avatar. Well, despite 21 pages of avatars I couldn’t find a good picture of a female half-orc, only cute humans and (half-)elves or ugly hags. Now Marla is certainly no beauty queen but those pictures that could pass as half-orcs are simply too ugly. So it’s Amiri or no avatar for now. If I had the choice, I would import the half-orc picture on p.16 in the ECS. Sadly that’s not possible though as far as I know.
@Quandary: So it’s possible for Starlan to give Marla a lift to Sharn and I’d like to use that in my background story if you’re ok with it. Those Glidewings are impressive creatures. :)
Now we only need to figure out how the two got to know each other. How did Starlan become a Gatekeeper? While Marla’s clan doesn’t follow Gatekeeper traditions, they often ally themselves with an orc tribe that does in order to hunt down the aberrations that seem to constantly creep out of some ancient dhakaani ruins to plague the area.

Wolvenone |

@Wolvenone I noticed a post on the PathfinderRPG board, that suggested Shifters might take a bonus Shifter feat when using the PF-RPG rules, which seemed to really work with their flavor...
Hey Dhan is this cool? I think he might be right but I won't do it without your okay. I Have Torin up not done yet but he shaping up I'll have some background up soon as well.

![]() |

Sure, sounds good to me. The shifter feats aren't game breaking, and they are important to shifters...
As for charging with Fast Stealth, that would make sense to me. Fast Stealth removes the penalty for moving fast, so any other actions that could take place normally during a charge, would apply then.
As for backstab. Do you mean sneak attack? Or am I totally lost?
@kayos/paul, I will start your little game soon! It's a very important one so i want to get it right!

Starlan "Wingy" Benex |

@Dahn: I've put up the backstory, and I'll hopefully have the "Day in the Life" piece up soon as well, although the backstory probably has some juice to get you thinking...
@Fleck/Marla It sounds like either of those would work, I had been thinking more along the lines of I had met you in an Orcish village while visiting Druids there, you had liked my Juggling perhaps, and you mentioned you were headed to Sharn soon, so I told you to look me up when you're there, but if you REALLY want a dragon ride, I'm not that mean to turn you down... :-)
You can check out Starlan's backstory if you want to as well, there's not really any secret info there that I would hide from anyone...

![]() |

Continuing in my heavy handedness
Here is a link to the PBP for Deerian and Ellirayne.
when the others finalize your characters, we can start on yours!
once that develops, you will meet each other for sure!

![]() |

I encourage it, sure. I know for a fact that there are people not involved in this game who are reading them (you know who you are! lurkers!, so it's totally fair for you to read them.
And they're fun! There may be some origin stuff that is secret, of course. And that's the player vs. character knowledge thing. Obviously Sim is not Sillas, but the others don't (or do?) know it.

![]() |

...we should possibly move to an actual PBP discussion thread to stop us bumping this to the top of the Gamer Connection forum!
Thanks!
Here it is!
Starlan "Wingy" Benex |

@Fleck Whichever way works best for Marla to arrive at Sharn is fine, and I also thought if she doesn't otherwise need to stay at a specific place, I can offer for her to sleep in the garden in my family's property in Sharn.
The houses are all Halfling-sized, and even the restaurant isn't that spacious for long-shanks like yourself, but the natural setting would be a more familiar retreat from the big city, and she can sleep underneath the raised platform/hut that Starlan stays in.
@Dahn Well, I was kindof surprised at how long it's ended up being, but I like developing the whole flavor and backstory, which writing the Average Day piece has given opportunity for...
Making me all the more excited for it all to start! :-)
