Bump
Hey Guthwulf:
We've had a huge snow storm up here in Seattle today and it will probably last through tomorrow. Most of the Paizo staff didn't make it into the office today and probably won't on Tuesday. Unfortunately, we can only look at orders while we are in the office. Once the storm clears and folks make it back into the office, somebody will take a look at your order for you. Sorry for the delay.

I lived with hard core insomnia for quite a while, I averaged 4 hours of sleep a week. The thing that finally cured me of it was after a night of rabble raising with my friends. By night I meen close to a solid week of hanging out with 2 different sets of friends, one group during the day, one group during the night.
Alas it came time to crash and I was at one of the peoples apartments with about 9 other folk. Bed taken with the primary resident and his GF, couch to someone, loveseat to someone, bathtub to someone (seriously), and the rest of us on the floor. Floor suck. They suck something feirce. The only luxury I had was a roll of paper towels to use as a pillow. Exaustion overcame and I slept. The next night I lay in bed and reflect "If I can sleep in those conditions, I am spoiled by a pillow, bed, sheets, and a blanket." And sleep comes.

It seems that Rise of the Runelords Map Folio has been attached to my order as a preorder again. It seems the order is not going to process until the Map Folio is scheduled to ship sometime in Feb. I was hoping this was not going to happen again.
Guthwulf,
I apologize for the delayed response. I have fixed out your order and we will be getting it shipped out to you as soon as possible.
thanks,
cos

Thank you for removing the Map Folio from the order so that my Pathfinder and Game Mastery module could ship. But I'm a bit curious why my shipping is still so very high. In the past it has only cost less than $5 and this time around it's over $8.
Your subscriptions are both set to ship via UPS Ground, so the order shipped as such. Is this not the shipping method you selected?
Thanks,
cos

The first 5 orders I had with Pathfinder and Gamemastery modules were with USPS service(cheapest available). I think when I added the Chronicles subscription it might have forced bumped it to the UPS. I am not sure of the size factor for using the lowest USPS service with all of those subscriptions. But it seemed odd to get charged a different amount for the same amount of material as the previous 5 times.
The other day when I first saw this amount set this way, I thought it was just going to be recalculated as it was shipped but I did try to see what my options were for shipping and the UPS was lowest option available from the website. I am curious if having a Chronicles subscription forces my lowest rate to be UPS ground. What about months when there are no Chronicle subscriptions designated? Will I still only be able to choose the UPS ground?

I see the same thing on my subscriptions page. The USPS 3-10 day shipping option isn't available and my cheapest option is UPS for about $8. That's compared to my last PF/GM package which went for $4.25 USPS.
Are Chronicles subs throwing us out of the 3-10 day USPS shipping option?

I posted this in another thread, but the problem could be that you are surpassing the USPS weight limits on what can be shipped through the cheap method. My memory is that there is an upper weight limit, that once it is surpassed, means you have to go either to the more expensive First Class mail or through UPS. If you are collecting a bunch of products to ship in one shipment, you might run into this problem. This could also explain why the shipping method doesn't ship.

Vic says that this isn't the problem, so I got nothing. Except that I got to quote myself. :)

Lisa,
I liked your explanation. Friendly and concise. It also had the advantage of not only sounding plausible, but falling in line with what I thought was going on.
I give it 4.8/5.
Sorry Vic had to poo-poo all over it. If that isn't the issue, did you guys have any other ideas? My PF5/GM order that shipped UPS actually arrived in a UPS box, but when I opened it, it was further protected by a sealed USPS envelope. So it was first put into the normal package for USPS shipment, then something changed and that got put into the UPS box. It will be interesting to see if my PF6/GM, which was mailed USPS, will arrive in a UPS box that is wrapped inside a USPS envelope this time.
The shipping cost difference is ~$4, which is consequently about the price of a fish sammich at McDeath Burger. I can easily eat the shipping cost difference, but I'm kinda craving a fish sammich, so you see where this is going ... I'd rather spend the money on something tangible, rather than a shipping cost difference that really doesn't get me anything.
My objective isn't to complain, but as kinduva software/systems engineer-type person, my curiousity is piqued as to what the difference is and where this sneaks into your shipping process. If this same thing affects all your PF/GM/Chronicles subscribers, then it amounts to alot of money that the Paizo community would be needlessly spending on shipping.
This cost difference would fund next year's "Eric Mona Day" for mere pennies on the dollar, I suspect.

That is pretty much standard procedure to protect books like that during UPS shipment. Besides, the USPS envelopes are free. :)

Lisa already commented on the envelope, so I'll try to help with the other area...
Have you checked your address.. I know UPS won't ship to PO box addresses, so look at what it says your address is (just in case and all that).
if all else fails and you don't hear anything back before the next shipment hits the docks call customer service (scroll down to the bottom of this page and the number is there. I believe Cos and Corey have reset a few others to the correct shipping method, as long as you let them know the correct one before it ships out.

All my packages have shipped to the same (non-PO Box) address since I started each of my subscriptions. My plan is to see what shipping option gets set when my next order goes pending, then work it if I don't like it.
The fact that the USPS shipping option has disappeared althogether is what is bothering me. I'm not interested in paying $4 more for a tracking number.

Yeah, that was my point too, when I signed up for Pathfinder and Gamemastery my cheapest shipping method was USPS. When I signed up for Pathfinder Chronicles the cheapest was UPS. I do not mind the extra charge when other books are being sent. But what about the months when it is just Pathfinder and Gamemastery? It was fine the first 5 times they were shipped by USPS.
Do I need to cancel my Chronicles subscription each month there are no chronicle books so that I can have it switch back to USPS?

![]() |

Just as an additional data point, when I change my subscription options from "hold for Pathfinder" to "never hold anything," the cheapest shipping option for GM switches back to USPS 3-10 day. However, the cheapest Pathfinder and Pathfinder chronicles shipping methods are still listed as UPS 5-day, FWIW.
