Hopefully this isn't already covered elsewhere.
I am currently a Pathfinder subscriber but next year is going to be extremely tight financially. I would very much love to be able to continue receiving Pathfinders though, and I thought that perhaps I could suggest it as a Christmas present that friends or family could give to me. Currently there doesn't seem to be a mechanic to do this though. I know that "wish lists" are on the list of things to implement on the site and perhaps that would cover this. But I'd love to have a way for a family member to buy a gift certificate or something that I could apply to my Pathfinder subscription.
If this has already been done, please help me out and point me to the right place. If it hasn't been done, please consider it so that I can somehow get more money into Paizo's hands over the holiday season.
Thanks much.

Unfortunantly there is no way to do this. I'm sure Cosmo will give you the real reason, but I think it has to do with "normal" subscriptions not being worth the overhead for Paizo. With reminders to renew, People missing issues because they renew late etc, and the various accounting requirements, the month to month is a much better option, and therefore the only one they offer.
It's a shame too, because with the Aussie dollar as it is now, i would love to sign up for a 3 year sub.

Wish lists are indeed an upcoming feature that would help with this, as are Paizo gift cards. These features are, as you know, still upcoming, but they are on the top of the priority list. I still cannot, however, give an estimate of when they be ready to launch.

As far as yearly prepaid subscriptions go, mevers pretty much has the right of it. There are inherent problems and risks associated with a prepaid subscription. With a regular magazine subscription we can absorb these risks, but with the higher quality books, we cannot.
Thanks,

I'm not sure how much CS would like this idea, but you could always have the person who wishes to buy you the subsciption just come here and buy a subscription that's delivered to your address. You would have to contact SC to cancel/hold your own sub for the months you receive as gift, and then put your sub back on when the gift is over.
Or, if you share a deep trust with that person, that person could also add his own billing info into your account and you just switch the billing info for a couple months, then revert to your own billing info and delete his, once the gift is over.

Thanks for the answers. I figured that these kinds of things would be still on the "to be implemented when Gary has a free decade" list. I thought that a gift card would be a nice way for someone to contribute a portion of my Pathfinder subscription which I could just use to pay for the months as they go by.
Anyway, I guess I'll have to try to be creative on my own for this year. Or maybe I won't be able to continue to be a Pathfinder subscriber. Yucky. Stupid finances.
