And talking Lumley's Mythos stories -- there's something I just noticed.
The Golarion demon queen of vampires is named Zura, a fallen/cursed Azlanti queen. And in Lumley's version of the Dreamlands, he has the 'lost queen of a sunken land' who became a ruler of vampires, who happens to be near the horrid land of Zura. Just a coincidence or a bit of a shout-out?

When I first saw a picture of the Sandpoint Devil, I knew what it really was. I was also glad to see an NPC with a surname connected to the Jersey Devil.
I can only saw that I hope Paizo continues to do cryptozoologists proud!!!
I hope we will!
Over the last month, we've worked up stats for death worms (not Mongolian death worms, for obvious reasons) and mokele-mbembe for upcoming products. And the chupacabras are never far from my heart (which is bad, because they drink blood). And my blog's called "Bigfoot Country." And I still plan on making my first trip out of the USA one to Canada to look for Ogopogo.
Cryptids will remain a part of Pathfinder as long as I do, in other words! :-)
Maybe you could do a Classic Cryptids Revisited someday? ;) Hmm, now there's a good question -- once you get past Nessie, Bigfoot, and the Abominable Snowman, what are the 'classic' cryptids?
And add in my vote with the guy who asked for cynocephalae/dog-heads in Golarion, though I imagine that Gnolls have that pretty well sewn up.

It's a shout-out.

James has posted his 'classic cryptids' wishlist somewhere before I think ... maybe in the 'Class Fey Revisited' thread?

Better not let Mr. Lumley find out. He is extremely over protective of his stuff. A friend of mine wrote to him and described a nightmare he had from reading one of the Necroscope novels and he got threatened with a lawsuit in return. Lost all respect for him.

Since the differences between Zura in Lumley's writing (itself heavilly based on Lovecraft's creations, so it's doubly amusing whenever I hear stories of Lumley getting litigious in this way) and Zura as a demon god of vampires are pretty vast, I'm not worried.
For the same reason, I'm not worried about Nissan coming after us for calling our game Pathfinder.

Me? No, no. I love me my Cthuhlu mythos like crazy. It's just merging it with Pathfinder seems really awful to me.
Fair enough but I love it... to the point I am fiddling with a Sanity mechanic thats over on the Carrion Crown boards, heck, thanks to some of the materials out there now I can intergrate lovecraftian horror into my PF games (if I wish to).
I am a huge fan of Chaosiums CoC, hence the attraction and the joy of meshing two possibilities.

I can only hope Paizo will be as high-profile as Lucasfilm some day.
