Edited
Whoops missed you post Hired Sword.
I snagged it from RPGG.
Had to edit it some as the days didn't match (3 month journey plus 2 months on the ilse), but over all good work. Thank you!
@Zombie: not sure why you added me to your post, if you got it from RPGG, then you got the original work, not mine.
The dates are one of the first things I edited out too. Pinning it to specific dates only adds confusion. I just left them as sequential undated entries.
Cheers!

Well somewhere buried in the STAP it mentions when Lavinia and Vanthus were kids they pulled a prank with a Potion of love and one of the local water wells. Prehaps Vanthus took a taste when Lavinia wasn't looking. He had to make sure it worked after all...
...Or he fell in and/or needed to be saved thus covering how they got caught. This would of course greatly depend on where they were dumping the potions.
Umm is the journal still being passed out? If so my addy's senshineko_xatyahoo.com

Since I have been reading Tracer’s blog, I have to wonder how, if at all, this will play into the story. Tracer, have you given it any thought? Your pre-Watershed style might preclude it, which would be a shame considering the apparent maturity level of your gamers. I think it could be handled in a tasteful way (I won’t rehash all that has gone before in this tread) and it just seems like too rich a story element to forego out of hand.

I think it'll still play a pretty important role. For now, they simply hate Vanthus for his role in trapping Idae (now known as Adameus) beneath Parrot Island with (my favorite NPC) Shefton. (I know that the path called for him to die in a fall at the entrance beneath Parrot Island, but I didn't want to leave Idae down there all by himself. I figured he die anyway, having an NPC (albeit a stupid one) at his side gave him a fighting chance.) They also believe him (word from Harliss) responsible for unleashing the Savage Tide in Kraken's Cove.
Oh, and there's that whole "burning his parent's alive" scheme, his association with the Lotus Dragons...the list goes on and on. Sure, they're not aware of his intentions with his sister yet, but it'll come up...and it'll certainly add fuel to the fire. I haven't really seen a whole lot of ways to work that into the story as of yet. We'll see how it plays out as time goes on.

Well, look back over this thread, long though it may be. There's a lot of good stuff here. Plus, there's that journal that someone put together - that's the simplest way to work it in. On page one of this thread:
Guy Humual wrote:I'm just a player and I totally got that vibe right from "There is no Honor" and onward. Maybe it's my literary background but that very first speech Lavinia gives about Vanthus raised all sorts of red flags in my mind.Got to agree with you, in fact I had this whole scenario in my mind (get it out, get it out!) when she was talking about how they went their seperate ways after an incident/prank involving a love potion...
llaletin makes a very good point. That line about parting ways after a prank involving a love potion - that's the big set up. If you gloss over that, the subtext is lost. However, the nature of your group makes it very easy to repeat. She's always talking with the party, baring her soul and such. It wouldn’t be out of place to work in a reprise of that opening speech. Or – oh, this is good – if you’ve decided to go with the Blue Nixie being beached, you could have them find her personal journal. Then you could do handouts (if you want to put in the effort) that gives a synopsis of everything since they met her, but more importantly, providing any information you want from before they met her, including that opening speech from “TINH.”
You could even use such a journal to encourage one character’s pursuit of her while breaking the heart of the other. If you want, that is.

I've got that journal...I'll be using it at some point.

That...is...BRILLIANT.
I wish I had another week to get that done. I might have to stretch things out a bit. I was intending to finish the sargasso tomorrow night and hit the beach (and the accompanying T-Rex) by the end of the evening...
Of course, I could still do that and end the night after the T-Rex...
I like the idea too much. I'll find a way to make it happen.

I got you talking like one of us now? Nice.

If there were any advice I could give, it would be "don't rush it!" If you rush it, it will "feel" rushed. I appreciate the kind words about my idea, but all modesty aside, if you like it, you have to take the time to make it happen right.
Look, I saw your last blog entry. They just got to the Sargasso. That can take a whole game session, easy. I understand – you want the cool cliff-hanger. Why not make the cliff-hanger be approaching the island and seeing the wrecked Nixie? That’s a BIG cliff-hanger! Maybe better than being about to fight a dinosaur (which will be no big surprise anyway for anyone who has ever seen the iconic cover of the classic “Isle of Dread” adventure).
Just my thoughts as an interested observer.

Oh, I won't rush it...I was thinking I could have the T-Rex attack while they're going through some wreckage, and they could discover the journal after the encounter...and have finding the journal be the cliff-hanger...
It's looking like it's going to be a short session tonight, now, though. I have a friend who's moving away and tonight will likely be our last chance to hang out. So I'll probably end the evening as they approach the Isle and see a smoke signal from near the Blue Nixie or something along those lines...
I'll be sure to post whatever I get together for her journal.

I’m sure it goes without saying, but thanks, mate. I’m taking my time, but I’ve decided I’m definitely going to run this AP again, I’m definitely going to go with the “Nixie shipwreck” option, and I’ll certainly want to do a Lavinia journal, especially if the romance subplot kicks off. The less I have to reinvent the wheel, the better. Thanks, again!
