And he looks like Sean Connery doing the grunge thing. :P

Is it just me or is his left hand missing some fingers?

Dark Archive Contributor

It's a hard life, being a D&D person.

Nah I think he's just got something in his hand of is casting a spell... it's kinda glowing if you look at the highlights and shadows.

Maybe Vrocking grasp???

The would be hero comes across as an amalgamation of Gandalf and Aragorn (or Merlin and Lancelot for that matter!) and is a story waiting to be told unto himself !! I can almost hear him speak in Sean Connery's Scottish drawl.

Last week you saw Wayne's awesome white dragon fight for the cover of Pathfinder #5. This week, we've brought you the whole thing as a downloadable desktop wallpaper—including the newest iconic! Who is this well-equipped wizard? Only time (and, perhaps, a blog post in the imminent future) will tell....

Do tell sir, do tell !!

This thumb I would agree is behind the top of his hand, but it looks almost like his middle finger is missing.

He gave the finger to WotC.

Ha

I don't care if he's got a cane. I'm not giving him a quarter.

I think I would like the new iconic better as an NPC.

Especially if he is going to be presented at a low level. He just looks too old to be a first level mage and just starting his career, alongside the other iconics.

I know it takes years of study to be a wizard, but damn - 50+ years of schooling just to cast "magic missile" aint worth it. :D

If his face were more youthful, the silver hair thing might be cool.

I don't know, is it just me? He looks like a very powerful wizard, not a beginning iconic.

Although, might be a cool backstory if he is older and spent most of his life doing something else (maybe he has 6 levels of expert or something) and some interesting spin could be created on why he came to the study of magic so late in life.

EDIT: Although, he IS on the cover of #5, and the party should be about 11th or 12th level or so by then . . . so, that's not too bad.

I think he's equal level to the rest of the party.

Yeah, so it's not so bad. He's noticeably older than the other iconics, but it really doesn't matter that much.

He might not even be playable.. maybe he's the Elminster of the land. :)

Well-designed, but kind of generic.

Shhh that's copyrighted.

His name is Alminister.

James Jacobs told me so.*

I hope he's not Alminster... oye.

That means he'd have to be dating a Queen from the otherside of the world named The Pegbul. :D

Looks like a Conn Seanery to me.

Wow. Typing a Scottish accent is harder than I thought.

No, this guy can't be an Elminster clone--hedoesn't look like he's overcompensating for something.

That's probably okay, since he couldn't spend a quarter in Golarion! ;P

Soap elementals and nixies.

I love seeing the Paizonians suffering from Insomnia as too am I. Wow my syntax gets bad without sleep. The fun thing is I don't really care right now in spite of realizing it.

The new Iconic can't be straight Sean Connery. He'd need to have a shword for that. Typo intended.

For the record, I do a very good Sean Connery voice. I apparently lapse into it sometimes by accident for older, seasoned characters. Then I stop. That voice is reserved for the elderly superpimp character only.

HEY EVERYBODY! I got Dr. Jacobs to admit that there are nixies and a para elemantal plane of soap in the Golarion cosmology!

Yasha0006 wrote:

I'm sure this chracter will take some levels in superpimp prestidge class.

Or he could just go the Elminster route and take levels in every base core class.

*getting in character*

Mook: "Who are you?!" Gesticulating with a cocked Handcrossbow.
????: "Connery. Sean Connery." Blasts mook with Wand of Magic Missle outfitted with a pistol-grip. Twirls his Katana off-handedly.

Sean Connery of Korvosa
Male Old Human (Scottish or Varisian equivalent)
Rogue 2/Fighter 2/Cleric 1/Sorcerer 5/Monk 1

The monk class is only included due to Sean Connery's undoubted ability to use a variant of stunning fist, the Stunning Chop, as evinced in many James Bond movies.

Just wait until he finds the Golden Wand.

Wet fairies and bubble... There's a joke there..... but I won't go there.

Well, who's he? There's some who call him.... Tim!

But of course that cane's a dead giveaway. He's a diviner/healer with a superb talent for finding out what ailment someone has - and then curing it with the same healing spell every time.

He's Tim House, of course!

I just wanted to voice my appreciation for the new iconic character. I've always used a "Sean Connery voice" for one of my Living Greyhawk characters, so I expect that the new iconic is going to fit right in in my games.

What was his name again? Tym Gandminster?

He usually just uses one thumb. If he used his second thumb, it's much too lethal a weapon when he only needs to teach a lesson.

James Bond is a Commander of the British Empire (one step below a knight) and Sean Connery himself is a Knight of the British Empire, wonder if this guy gets to be a knight (titular, not class level), nice twist on a wizard chracter.

On that note... can any of you Paizo fellows give us a small taste of some of the Knightly Orders of Golarion?

Does he have a name yet?
Twould be quite the idea to make a design-a-name contest would it not?

I vote "Bubbles", then all those nixies at the Golarion laundromat have something to blow!

He has a name now, and his backstory is coming together in my head. All will be revealed tomorrow on the blog.

I'm going to totally scoop Jacobs here...

His name is Ned Neodore Nogan, Esquire. He's into totally excellent magical stuff and he really hates those bogus outsider dudes. And whenever he casts a totally righteous spell he's all, "Whoa."

They go on many excellent adventures together, that Vill and Ned.

Since the Cheliaxian Quarterback, Aroden, went and got himself killed after Homecoming. Since then the whole school has "tuned in and tuned out" and teen pregnancy is on the rise.

Sweet...

Lord: "Put them in the iron maiden!"

Vill and Ned: "Excellent!"

Lord: "Execute them!"

Vill and Ned: "Bogus!"

Now will the time tra...err...planeshifting telepho....err......outhouse?
I guess thats about what it would have to be. ^_^
The question is...who is who's cohort? Vill or Ned?

And his weapon of choice...AXE!

But does he know kung-fu (or the Golarion equivalent)?

Cool iconic. I like his Scottish looks and adventure gear. He is indeed loaded with stuff for a wizard. He looks more like the practical than the social academic type. Which is cool. :)

I just took a good look at the illustration and dude doesn't look anything like Sean Connery.

This whole thread is moot.
