"In space no one can hear you scream" Then they show a spaceship making noise in space (with doppler effect).
What? You think Hollywood is actually going to bother with something as paltry as the Laws of Physics?
Science Consultant: You can't have sound in a vacuum.
Hollywood Writer: What vacuum are you talking about? This is outer space! Although maybe we could have a vacuum, and have one of the Predator's dredlocks get sucked into it....hmmm.

I just saw the trailer for this the other day and I love how it seems to be flaunting the fact that it's rated R. As if it were made in response to the people (such as myself) who dismissed AVP1 as a PG13 teen scream movie and never bothered to watch it.
"No! Really! This one is RATED R! There's... like... BLOOD and stuff! Please come see it!"

Personally, as a person of low tastes and little cinematic discernment, I will watch a bad movie (AVP) despite intuition and even outright warnings against it, but I just don't like trailers.
*has a sip from his bud supercan*
Nevertheless I took the bait and watched the AVPR international trailer. Lotsa dyin', meh...
But I did like them playing "Silent Night" at the end as mayhem reigns in the darkened street of a generic downtown. That ruled.

saw this yesterday...
i was satisfied enough but i'm itching to get back into deep space with it - there was a sinking feeling when the predator ship crashes back to Earth, which stretched credibility for me considering how many predators were on it. Crashes in rural Colorado (of all places) and then a pretty standard infestation & military reaction ensues. ONE (!!!) predator comes to the rescue from out there in predator-land to deal with it and destroy the evidence, which seemed an under-reaction (perhaps the comics explain why the predator planet looked like a ghost town). the predalien was a point of difference but expected, i would say that there wasn't enough in the film for fans of the comics (i'm not a reader but at least i know they exist). nice touch at the end but would leave most of the audience nonplussed.
anyone else?

saw it...
:sigh:plot/writing - bleh
gore - yes and yes
action scenes - yep, them too
stupid (wtf?) ending scene - yepBetter then Alien 4 worse than Predator 2
Somehow I don't think that the Plot/Writing was central to the experience (except the ending that sets up how the Wayland/Yutani reference comes into being)! ;) Considering that after AVP, I wasn't going into it with high hopes, it wasn't too bad. Not brilliant, but was any of us really expecting it to win an Oscar?
Broken Tusk was pretty kik ass, but he should have survived the whole thing (maybe hitching a ride out on the bottom of the Helicopter). Maybe the Broken Tusk from the Graphic Novel/Comic was Son of Broken Tusk???
Best death HAD to be
I didn't mind Alien 4, but wasn't too keen on Alien 3. Predator 2 was a bit meh, but still enjoyable.
