That's a good idea, and one that we've talked about adding. However, adding new code that automatically sends out a bunch of email makes me extremely nervous. (Any code that sends email makes me extremely nervous.... One bug and you've just annoyed a LOT of people.)
For now your best bet is I think to subscribe to the "new products" RSS feed for the node on which your product resides. Or perhaps the "upcoming products" feed. Have to double-check that code some day.
Oh c'mon, what harm could a little "reply-to-all" do (shudder)?

Not sure how hard it would be, but perhaps you could add some code that, when it detects an item that has had a status change in someones shopping cart, would change the color of their shopping cart icon.
