Tsuto got away!

Rise of the Runelords

The Exchange

Anyone else have the problem of what to do with him after he escapes? The text was a bit short with him actually escaping.

It says that he uses the escape tunnel to head to Thistletop and hook up with Nualia there. He'll take Ameiko if he gets the chance, but that's unlikely unless the PCs rest or something after killing most of the goblins.

That's correct. And I seem to remember there's some descriptive text for one of the rooms at Thistletop, indicating it's where Tsuto will be if he managed to escape the Glassworks.

Once he flees, he's 'sposed to hang with Lyrie on Thistletop Level 2, room D15.

Tsuto would report to Nulia the PCs names & powers. She might send him back to Sandpoint in disguise to spy the PCs activities and to get fresh news from Eylium. If the PCs defeat Erylium, Nulia might ask Tsuto to assassinate them or to plan an ambush with the bugbear ranger.

My group killed Tsuto semi-accidentally. He was down to 2hp and trying to escape. He'd stopped at the door to the escape tunnel, then got hit with a 12-point blow from an 18STR, 2HSword-wielding fighter/cleric with Smite.

So much for questioning . . .

My players beat him well into the negatives, hauled him up and threw him the garrison. Because he was wounded and unconscious, they didn't bother to try to question him - and sort of promptly forgot about him while exploring the Caverns of Wrath. I was going to have him kill himself, but then because they let several days slip by, I had Lyrie Akenja sneak into town from Thistletop and free him - the players had organized the militia into patrols, dutifully guarding the town in the sheriff's absence, leaving only a pair of guards at the jail. I know the text says that Lyrie is pretty much a coward, but because she's in love with Tsuto, she'd go pretty far. I had them flee back to Thistletop.

Which, in the end, provides a perfect segue to the Thistletop portion of the adventure - I'll just have all signs (tracking, gather information) point to them escaping to the north along the Lost Coast road. The players have now made it their mission to track him down.

My Tsuto was captured by the LG PCs and brought to Belor. He was then transferred to Magnimar as planed. Tsuto will make a comeback during chapter 2 when PCs are going to Magnimar on the bloody Skinsaw trail.

Yeah, I had him run off and the PC are tracking him I was just hoping to make him a more solid character and his capture more exciting.

It was impossible for him to escape, at least in my game. The party chased a surviving goblin to his room, and since it is a 4 square room, with one exit, the party fills the hall way outside and slaughters him.

I did have a really interesting encounter in the catacombs of wrath later though, which I'll probably make a post about in a little while.

That's almost exactly what happened in my game, though he did manage to get a sneak-attack-enhanced suckerpunch in that almost killed a PC before he dropped.

That happened exactly in my game as well. Things looked grim until Tsuto just gave up on Tumble and arrows, switching to flurry of blows which began knocking down PC's like flies. Last one standing got him good, and they took him straight to the Garrison where he hanged himself the next day.

The Exchange

Must be nice... I have a fighter wielding a greatsword and a rogue popping arrows at him and they chewed him to pieces before I could even think about running away. hehe

I had Tsuto flirting with one of the PC's (elf bard) from the moment she came to town, but skipping out on their date (to rob the graveyard, etc).

So when they track him down, guess who opens the door to get readied attacks by the two remaining goblins? He tried to keep her out of the fight by pleading, which mostly worked except she ended up grappling him as he ran down the tunnel.

They knocked him out in the end, and threw him in the garrison. But the bard volunteered to watch him while the PCs and most of the guards helped clean up the mess of bodies in the Glassworks and keep the crowd calm.

After questioning him, in which he carefully blamed everything on Lonjiku, she released him, gave him back his ring (of protection +1), and let him knock her out to make it look like an escape.

Should be interesting.

That might be a good idea, considering how badly he was maimed by one of the PCs in the group I run.

The pc (CN Shoanti Barbarian) got dropped by him in the Glassworks and was smug about it during the interrogation session. The PC subsequently ripped out his tongue. (He rolled a nat 20 and confirmed crit..tsuto was tied up. Other PCs tried but failed to stop...lost init or got shrugged off by the very strong barb in attempts to grapple).

Spoiler:
(This kinda alienated him towards the other PCs and Ameiko, sigh...BUT it works well for Wrath consequences in PF2 and others that have been mentioned...maybe I 'll give this PC two haunts!

It's okay, I did the same thing last week.
