I don't know if this question has come up yet, but I would like to know where in Golarion is the city of Absalom located?

Take your pick of analogies:

If Varisia is the Pacific Northwest, Absalom is in Florida. Roughly speaking.

If Varisia is the UK, Absalom is Turkey. Roughly speaking.

If Varisia is Mongolia, Absalom is the Philippines. Roughly speaking.

If Varisia is in the northwest corner of a pseudo-European continent, Absalom is in the eastern half of a pseudo-Mediterranean sea.

You get the idea. It's roughly 3000 miles east-southeast of Varisia, which is basically the only landmark we have to give right now.

So if Varisa is New England then Absalom is 200 miles west of Morocco on one of those little islands off the coast? does that sound right?

...so if Varisia is Texas, Absalom would be like...Boa Vista, Roraima, Brazil?

If Varisia is a ham sandwich, Absalom is some sort of marsupial...

Wait, what are the rules of this game?

Only if 3000 miles east-southeast of your ham sandwich is an area with marsupials...

Question what if varisia were the south pole? you can't go southeast of that...

To anser your question . . . if varisia were on the southpole, then absalom would be a turkey on rye . . . to the north.

darn and I thought I had it - I was going to say that then Absalom would be 3000 miles under the ice/earth (is that even possible, or is that in magma?)

If Golarion is like Earth, 3000 miles would be deep in the outer core, which is mostly liquid iron. So maybe a little too warm.

So is Absalom used as a holiday place for fire elementals and iron goloems

Yeah. Absalom is warm, but not THAT warm (although visitors might whine that it is).

I just flipped through "Gallery of Evil", but I couldn't find any information on Absalom itself, only one of its districts. To repeat this thread's question: Where is Absalom? The information about it that is, if I am ever going to run this I will need a lot more information about the city. My players are not really the types to frequent the Ivy District...

Someone will correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe that Gallery of Evil has the only published information on Absalom at this time. There may be more information on it in the forthcoming Gazetteer or in future Pathfinder modules, and there might be more information here on the boards or the Paizo blog -- have you tried a search of the message boards?

If you're lucky, J. Jacobs or one of the other Paizo folks will jump in with some more tidbits, but I wouldn't expect anything in-depth at this time.

We'll be developing Absalom over a long period of time, in the form of GameMastery modules set in various districts of the city and, potentially, in the form of future Pathfinder adventures or articles.

In the meantime, I suggest creating your own information for the rest of the city or simply transporting the events of "Gallery of Evil" and other modules to a city of your choice.

The upcoming Pathfinder Chronicles Gazetteer will contain a very rough (and quite short) overview of the city, with more information to be released in the following year and beyond.
