It's becoming apparent to me that there are quite a few of us in and around the NYC area. As I'm always ready to make new friends, I'd love to get a group of us together for a casual lunch or dinner. I think it'd be the perfect opportunity to really organize a game or two, not necessarily D&D (you mentioned a super hero game somewhere, Freehold). I know a great bar/restaurant near my apartment in Queens, but we'll probably end up meeting in Manhattan. So if you're interested, speak up!

If I get the job I interviewed for in Long Island City (and therefore take one further step toward moving back to the city) I will certainly join in. Even if I don't and I can come up with the cash/travel time to come in, I'll definitely consider it.

I'll consider it - I'm on the MA/CT line, but I come to Fairfield every other weekend to see my GF (who I've now roped into playing as a cleric because "nobody wants to piss off the cleric and risk not getting healed" she actually RPs it well as a belief that emotion governs Natural law and therefore when someone has hurt her feelings, she can't heal them - yeah so back on topic) so if its on the weekend count me interested

Once I get my finaces cleared up (in 3 to 4 years ~sighs~) I will come up there to say hello. It is so nice that the Savannah Airport has flights to NYC twice a day.

If anything does come together, I'll hop on the 1 and make the arduous trip down from the northern Bronx.

Love to meet sometime for food and beverage and perhaps to organize some games!

Rock!

I saw New Yorker in the title of this post and assumed I was from NY, maybe I should unite, but seeing as I live northwest of the Hudson I guess I can't do that.

Wow, so many responses in only a few hours! I'm sorry some of you are too far away to make the trip; I'm sending out positive thoughts that someday you'll make it. Even if you're a greater New Yorker, rather than a "I'm a New Yorker, ***hole!", drop a line if you ever visit the city.

For those of us in the city right now, let's make a tentative plan to meet up next weekend.

Just no talk about 4 ed until AFTER the meal!

Looking forward to this!!

Unless there's copious amounts of alcohol, followed by the decision to buy ski masks and baseball bats, drive across the country in a red convertible to WotC headquarters, and demand both an apology for and a cancellation of 4E, I'm absolutely okay if the topic never comes up.

Does paizo carry + 4 keen bane (false game designer) baseball bats of submission? Do they have them in cherry red?

But seriously, how bad could 4 ed be?

hello guys? guys??? where did everybody go?

Trying to order that cherry red bat you mentioned.

It's not that I think it will be bad, I just don't think it's going to be the game I've been playing since high school. I'm sticking with calling 4E DDINO- D&D In Name Only.

I was just telling my girlfriend that it's a weird feeling knowing that for the first time in twenty years, once I get the three core books for 4E (out of some bizarre sense of obligation mixed with tradition), I won't be picking up "official" D&D products on a monthly basis. And that's fine by me, because I'm loving the Paizo stuff more and more.

Oh yeah, I just realized that my sense of time is still slightly askew (two months off for the summer and then, after a week and a half back at work, a four day weekend, will absolutely make you forget what day of the week it is). Were we looking at tomorrow or (15 Sept) Saturday a week from now (22 Sept)?

DDINO - LUV THAT!

(to the tune of old McDonald - http://kids.niehs.nih.gov/lyrics/mcdonald.htm)

There was a Wizard who lived off the Coast. D - D - I - N -O
and off the Coast he had a dog, D - D - I - N -O
and Ddino was his name oooooooooh,
D - D - I - N -O.
D - D - I - N -O.
Adnd Ddino was his name ooooooooh!
With a "crap-crap" here and a "crap-crap" there
Here a "crap" there a "crap"
Everywhere a "crap-crap"
the Wizard who lived off the Coast
D - D - I - N -O.
D - D - I - N -O.
Adnd Ddino was his name ooooooooh!

(And the dog stunk on ice!!)

(ahem)

As to timing the meeting, i'm most likely not in NYC until Oct 2-3 but will be in town until late december. I would hate to miss the 1 st paizo community NYC meeting of the minds but if you guys meet please keep good notes and dont form a competing toy company just yet. Please.

Let's say lunch at the Tick Tock Diner (8th and 34th) on the 22nd. I've never been, but my roommate recommends it. I'm hoping that others will joing up before the 22nd, but if not it'd probably be better to wait until October. And don't worry, we'll be sure to keep you in the loop, Baron!

Ah, New York. The San Francisco of the East Coast.

Spoiler:

At least according to San Franciscans

Spoiler:

Though I must say, as much as I despise NY in all it's center-of-the-universe-ness, it's only one city. The whole damn state of CA thinks it's the center of the universe. And, it's infectious. It scares me that I now refer to any state that does not directly border CA as "the East Coast".

And I've given up on my dream of having people understand that Michigan and Minnesota are actually different states.

I'm certainly in. The Tick-Tock diner is pretty standard diner food, but it's a very central location. Where do most people live? If we're up for diner food, Odessa at 7th and Ave A is great. And they make cheap, strong drinks.

Btw, I'm on 11th Ave in Brooklyn.

As a displaced Southerner, I'm not sure if these Yankees here realize that while this might be the center of the universe, it's not the same universe that the rest of us are living in.

That being said, I really do love my new home in New York! :)

And I was going to suggest we hit The Slaughtered Lamb. What better place to meet up than a dungeon?

Alas I am out of town on the 22nd! Perhaps we could do it in October again and I'll jump on board then!

EVERY ONE knows that WotC HQ is the ceter of the Known Universe.

I was born in Belgium but moved to San Diego by 2 1/2 and always considered myself a cali (not a bore from LA despite getting my education there) and even when i moved to London and then New York i remained a proud cali ... then 9/11 happened and i became an Imperial New Yorker.

And as an aside, what is this Michigan you speak of ? Will it be covered in pathfider or the game mastery product line ?

Well if we're doing theme night, how about Ninja New York or Barcade.

I am ready to go to the ninja place now. Right now. Not in ten minutes; I'll get dressed on the elevator.

And Barcade has Abita. I've been to Abita Springs. Many times. I love Abita. One of the Abita Pub Crawls helped me ace my Praxis exams. I don't really need to say any more about that.

Could we go for the gold and try for a place with Woodchuck Amber on draught? It's like a tasty healing potion for your tummy *and* your brain.

I appreciate it, but right now I'm happily ensconced in my apartment, trying to get the paint off of my desk that built up over a summer of painting minis like a fiend. Besides, everyone else I know here is asleep or off doing silly things like lesson planning for the coming week. I'm not ready to reach the low of being in a Manhattan bar on a Friday night by myself. I need a good, seedy dive for that.

You seem to live your PR work, Baron. If everyone's cool with it, let's just change from Tick Tock to the Gansevoort. How long does your reservation last? I myself don't like to eat until 6ish, but if it has to be an early dinner that's cool too.

Current Roster:

Baron

Nick, starting in October
James, if he gets his LIC job
Kirstov, on the weekends that sinc with his biweekly visits

Correction. You forgot Texas.

That one gets me, too. But the worst one: try to convinve anyone not from there that there's actually an entire State of New York--a fairly large one with farms, lakes, mountains, etc.--attached to NYC. They'll look at you like you're claiming the Earth is flat.

So are we on, i'll be in manhattan early friday - what time works. The reservation is for 4 pm but we can make it for 6 pm no problem - i wanted a little earlier because it is outdoors and mojitos work better in sunshine. Let me and Tequila know folks. Your paizo secret society needs you.

Saturday afternoon.

And I did not lose a bet, it was when the student had free time.

Damn you New Yorkers and your 9 million people living in a 15 square mile area!

Seriously, have a great time guys and let me know if you plan to do this again some other time. Weekends are bad for me (work) but like Sam I might be a ble to pop down there for dinner on a Thursday night. Would love to meet the guys behind the avatars.

Not too late at all. I've actually been waiting for you to pop into this thread, as I remember you live in the city from other threads. And yes, it's 5 pm on Saturday at the Gansevoort Hotel. Btw, is that a goofy name to anyone else?

Oh, and how do we all know where in the hotel to meet, Baron? Should we give some kind of code word to the host/ess?
