Nualia

Rise of the Runelords

One of the best villain concepts in D&D history, with real depth of motivation that sadly I don't think will be done justice in most actual play, including my own. At what point can I insert her soliloquizing on hypocrisy and the down side of her celestial heritage?

However, I'm not fond of the illustration. The cartoony style doesn't bother me much, but those giant hand shoulderpads just look goofy the way they are drawn.

I really liked Nualia too.

I don't want to see her defeated so soon though....hopefully she'll be able to make an escape and be a thorn in the PCs sides for awhile.

Hey, if Nualia arm wrestled Eli Tomorast, who would win?

With absolutely no prompting of my own my son's character for Pathfinder is going to be an aasimar crusader of Saranrae (from The Book of Nine Swords) who is going to be the antithesis of Nualia. I'll throw some of the same things at him that Nualia suffered but since his adoptive parents (he grew up in Windsong Abbey) did not treat him as Nualia's father did he has become a very different.

This approach will help bring out Nulia's story. I'm just glad my son made an aasimar.

Ahem. I DO believe the question you meant to ask is: If Nualia and Lyrie mud wrestled, who would win?

Spoiler:
The answer? Everyone.

I cheered when I saw evil aasimar. I've used it once. I don't think I'll be able to lure any of my potential players into playing an aasimar. *sigh*

Nualia is indeed an awesome villain - I hope she gets away in some campaigns to become a thorn in the PCs sides. DMs - do your thing!

My player has so far been very keen on keeping Tsuto alive and capturing a goblin for information. Playing Kyra, I'm anticipating the possible exploitation of Sarenrae's aspect for redemption to first try to bring Naulia back into the light.

Here's a motivation thought. How would Nualia react to a tiefling? Jealousy? envy? anger that the tiefling was 'born with everything she wanted'? Just curious.

Oh, and I picture her 'final transformation' form being all twisted and muscled and taloned, like her arm, except her head still looks the same beautiful form it is now.

Nualia has notes that would reveal her entire back story if the PCs defeat her (or drive her away).

If she becomes a recurring villain, you can mess with the players by constantly changing her appearence so they're never sure if it's her or not.
