Seoni's Sword?

I know it usually comes down to the artist... but why is Seoni depicted as having what looks like a katana on her back? I mean other characters have feats appropriate to their spin, and Seoni has debatable feats. Why wasn't the sword given a nod in proficiency.. or is it not a sword and just looks like a katana?

I've only seen her with a quarterstaff. I hope I haven't missed any pics. Can you link or reference it?

there is something that looks sort of like a wakazashi across the top of her butt (it is much to short to be a katana), but I amguessing that the appearence is coincidental, I expect that it is meant to be a rod or wand of some sort.

You're right. I didn't see it. Must have been distracted...

Since she's a spellcaster, it is probably a metamagic rod or something.

A wakazashi is right. But if it's a sword, a rod, or a wand, why isn't it on her character sheets?

Because a masterwork shortsword (which is what the DMG lists as a wakazashi, except for the slashing damage bit) blows the wealth by level table for a level one PC right out of the water?

From what I've read, Paizo asked Wayne Reynolds to draw up some awesome iconic characters, and Paizo built the characters after the art was finished. So perhaps, in RoRL #2 or 3, we'll see see a rod or wakazashi on her character sheet.

Maybe.. maybe not. She is level 2 in D1, and it's not listed there either.

Whatever the case maybe it's worth noting/discussing/speculating. Maybe they didn't even think about it or notice it like others here hadn't. :)

Wonder how much implants cost in Varisia? And check out the nose.....looks like someone is playing in the "snow".

The "sword" she's got on her back is not a sword. It is, indeed, some sort of magic rod or wand or other sorcerous geegaw. Seoni'd probably cut off one of her fingers if she tried using a sword. And Merisiel would laugh until she passed out.

Maybe taking a page out of Magistrate Vamros Harg?

Sure does look like one but ok. So when we going to see that particular item stat'd? :)

Implants? Why do they have to be implants? She's a sorceress after all, high Charisma and all that stuff. 10 is the human average and at 15 those certainly look above average. ;)

I almost gave her a rod of lesser enhance metamagic in Pathfinder 3, but she didn't QUITE have enough money to afford it. She'll have one by Pathfinder 4, though.

Always about buying. I don't remember Drizzt buying his scimitars or Arilyn buying her moonblade. Did Blackstaff or Raistlin buy their staves?

Oh well, probably unbalance the adventure if it was just looted early on off a corpse of a wizard enemy. Keep in mind that "buying" isn't always the way heroes get stuff. :)

Hm... now we find out even more about our beloved iconics...

Yes indeed, all because I noticed something that was over looked by many.

I HOPE that Paizo finds a way to publish a lot more about the personalities, histories, and such of the Iconics. Not just leave them as pregen'd characters for novices to play.

A novel would be nice, a few short stories every pathfinder or two would be even better. :)

Hmm, 11 classes, 12 months, 2 genders. Have a Varisian Calendar with each PC class and a "swimsuit issue" with all of them (of course, full stat blocks. One for the males, one for the females. What's that? Calendars don't sell? Well, I'm sure a Vista widget can be created ; )

WotC was thinking when they created the Classes!

You can have your thread back now ; )

<rolls eyes>

By "buying," of course, I meant "assigning to Seoni the proper amount of gear for a PC of her level according to Table 5-1 of the DMG."

Sometimes, answering questions here makes my head hurt.

*pats James on the shoulder* Why do you think I try to help you out so much mate lol. I know how hard you work.

HA! Well played!

I really thought he meant buying, as in magic shop.. which I fully endorse. :)
