yeah, a lot of my group is very angry at 3.5 and have gone back to 2.0. I have tried to join several play by post games and they all seem dead; take letters from hommet for instance; been two weeks since anyone posted and all we have done is gone to two buildings in town. I am up for a game as I just want to play.
Use the looking for players or the play by post threads when you do; will be watching.

I don't do PbP (or PbE-mail, MUDs, or online gaming of any sort). I'm a pencil-and-paper, everyone around the table sort. OK, I'm old school; computers have their place in prep-work, but the best role-playing is face-to-face (besides, I spend enough time staring at a computer screen as an IT-professional).
Even though I made the transition (reluctantly) to 3.5 after just getting comfortable with 3.0 and enjoy the robustness and scalability of 3.0/3.5, I still get the urge to play 2nd Ed (or certain settings thereof; Spelljammer, anyone?) every so often, or even 1st Ed or the D&D boxed sets (OK, I'm really old school). Of course I get the urge to play in other systems (Alternity/Star*Drive, Ars Magica, Champions/HERO, Shadowrun (1st Ed!), Star Frontiers (Alpha Dawn and Knight Hawks), Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay), as well. Too bad that most of the time I'm the only one in the gaming group that's familiar with them. Usually, the only use I get out of my old gaming material is an idea library.
I wish you luck on getting your 2nd Ed PbP off the ground, though.

Would you accept players who have no experience with 2nd edition (and I mean none whatsoever). I must admit that THACO is scaring the s**t out of me but by reading the different threads relating the good ol'times, I feel like I missed somethings (if not everything)...
Sure. Second edition is very easy to learn and flexible. Better simplified in some aspects to third edition or third edition revised. If you can find any on-line resources for second edition then by all means track them down and use them. There should be something involving third edition rules on the web. Try e-bay or Amazon.com for out-of-print materials.
Just on a side note, I play both second edition and third edition revised Dungeons and Dragons. My other games include Mutants and Masterminds second edition, Gamma World 4th Edition or d20 Modern/Future homebrew and D6 Legends (DC Universe Super-Hero variant) or the old WEG Star Wars D6.

I'll prep up a matter list of the books I'm going to use. I let three old modules slip out now.
Dundjinni Map Maker. Yes, this game will have maps and tokens.
It will being in Cormyr, before the Death of King Azoun IV, thus I will use the Haunted Halls of Eveningstar.
It continue into the Ruins of Myth Drannor Box Set (I’ve Always Wanted to do an exploration into Myth Drannor) and possible conclude in the Undermountain and Skullport. No Waterdeep however.
I will not send invitations until August after Summer Class and Gen-Con.
If you have an address, send it to me at pigeonblue@gmail.com (preferred) or devilboy@anv.net.

Would anyone still dust off their second edition books and use them for a campaign in a second edition Dungeons and Dragons game, say in a Play-by-Post or Play-By-Email game? I’ve an itching to start one sometime in August and well I’m trolling for opinions and players.
I would really love a 2 nd ed game towrds the end of august - let me know if you need an experienced player or a co scenario designer! I have all core rulebooks and a good number of the FR and Ranvenloft supplements as well.
And 90 percent of my dice are 2 nd ed compatible. Including a D 100 that lloks like a large golf ball.

2nd ed.? That's very masochistic of you. 1st ed. or even basic maybe, but 2nd ed? The dark days of D&D are not to be spoken of.
Masochistic? Nay. Second edition D&D shined through in its final years before the sloppy Third Edition reached my cave. And may I suggest a floodlight and a large car battery to anyone who thinks 4E will top 3E Revised. I personally think darker days are ahead with the expected publication of the fourth edition. Having gone through 1st, 2nd, 2nd Revised, 3rd, and now 3rd Edition revised, you can count me out except for the core books. Since Dragon and Dungeon were allowed to die with no dignity or honor, it looks like I'll continue my favorite gaming drug addiction through Pathfinder and Gamemastery.
