Where is the manor from cove #2? My money is on #48 or #49 on the map of Sandpoint.
Where is the temple the PCs ought to protect at the beginning of BO? My money is on #1 on the map of Sandpoint.
The Sandpoint Cathedral is indeed area #1 on the map of Sandpoint. The mansion from the cover of Pathfinder #2 isn't actually in Sandpoint, though... but it's close by. It's not on the map of the town, though.

Great! Obviously the map transports the right feelings.
But I hoped for a haunted mansion on the edge of town where the young ones go to testing their mettle, in the second volume. Perhaps a house with its own will in the way of a certain article from Dragon and Leiber's The Jewels in the Forest.
There is a haunted site where the kids go to test there mettle... but it's not really a house. It's Chopper's Island, north of the Old Light.
At first, I was going to make one of the southern mansions the haunted house from the cover of #2, but decided against it since it was such an intriguing and irresistible place, I didn't want to really give it up as a "go here and explore" option. First, because it'll be a month between the first and second adventure, but mostly because the things in that house would crush 1st-3rd level adventurers. Far better to not have it on the map tempting PCs and DMs to go to it before its time.

Very nice! I always loved that hook for The Whispering Cairn.

If I may say so: wise, very wise. I clearly remember the session I killed my own mother's paladin, who wanted to chat with Balabar Smenk and entered his home uninvited. His pet apes tore her to pieces. Perhaps her actions were a bit unwise, but it was simply no fun for everybody around the table.
Despite it, speaking (or writing) of all this I remember the greatness of the Diamond Lake backdrop article and again of course Mr. Mona's awesome adventure. From what I know yet, I bet Pathfinder is similiar or major in quality!
