What's the difference between these two shipping methods (for shipping my Pathfinder subscription)?
(For where I live, the "Pathfinder Standard" method costs only 20 cents more than the USPS Package Service, so I'm curious if one is more likely to get my Pathfinder to me reliably and as undamaged as possible.)

The "Pathfinder Standard" option is sort of a holdover necessitated by the fact that we announced Pathfinder before the postal rate changes, and we had promised folks that they could get it shipped for $4 in the US ($5 internationally). For some destinations, we ended up being able to offer a slightly better price for the exact same service, and that's what you're seeing. USPS Package Service actually encompasses a few services, and in the case of Pathfinder subscriptions, the specific service we're using is Bound Printed Matter.

I guess my question is "what kind of condition is mine going to come in?" I live in an apartment and those mailboxes aren't very nice to magazines.
This being a book, and softcover at that, makes me think that they're going to fold it. Is there anything that will stop this?
Thanks

We'll be shipping Pathfinder in a sturdy cardboard envelope. When packed with a book, the mailer will flex a little bit, but won't easily fold. In order to damage the book inside, someone would have to maul it pretty good.

After getting my first GameMastery module quite mauled through postal handling (I guess), so badly in fact that paizo sends me a replacement, I´m somewhat worried about the state I will recieve pathfinder in...
Will you use the same kind of cardboard envelope for Pathfinder as well? It does not keep the stuff within from being mauled, obviously. Could you print "Handle with Care" or "do not bend" in big, red letters on the envelope? It might help...

I've never had this issue because everything bigger then a letter that's not easily folded (like a magazine in plastic wrap) gets sent to the post office for me to pick up. but if your mail carriers can't do this then have it sent ot work. It'll arrive un-mauled and since it's brown cardboard it'll be discrete. Y'know, in case you don't want your co-workers to see.

Well, the post box at my home is big enough to easily accomodate the envelope, and the Dragon and Dungeon always arrived nearly unscathed from England. So I guess it had something to do with the transport to my place, perhaps it already happened in the U.S. mailing system. The post box itself is not the problem in my case.

Unfortunately, a certain amount of damage is going to happen no matter how you package something. Fortunately, we've only had a handful of reports of damage on the two modules we've sent out so far.
We will be using the same mailer for Pathfinder. We've been using it for softcover books for a long time, so we've sent out thousands and thousands of them, and we're really happy with the low incidences of damage with it. (I know that's not a lot of consolation when you're the one who gets the damaged one, though.)
Also, keep in mind that Pathfinder is three times thicker than a Module, so it's that much harder to bend.
