I am thinking about starting a new Eberron PbP game, set in Eberron. The action will kick off in the city of Stormreach on Xen'drik.
For more info on Eberron, read through Aubrey's notes here no point in duplicating his good stuff.
A word of caution, I have never played DDO, so Stormreach will be my stormreach, based on the info in Secrets of Xen'drik, not anything from that game.
I will take the first 5-6 players that have character concepts.

Technically plagirism is claiming your work as mine... this is pretty much laziness.
No deffinite no-nos yet, but I will be carefully considering everything outside of the core books (including PHB2 which I own) or Eberron books.
I will need to be convinced that the shifter barbarian really is a master of the iron everything school from book of 91 double swords

I would love to play if you will have me. I have also been following Aubrey's campaign, and it seems like a really good time. I have been wanting to play a shifter for quite awhile. Thank you for your consideration.

Feel free to jump in with a character concept, Dreamweaver.
I am not trying to limit anyone's discussion. I encourage you (plural) to talk about what you (singular) want to play, before scratching out concepts. I intend to help the not Eberron fantics who want to try the setting to mesh their character with the setting.
One more thing, out of respect, the game will almost certainly not start in earnest until Aubrey returns from his two week surgery to have the ball-and-chain attached.

I have been tossing around a Medani inquisitive but I think since it is based in Xendrik a less urban character would be better so I think I will go with a changling artificer that I wrote up. Let me know if this will work and if you have any background info you need and where to send my character sheet.

It starts in Stormreach, and will probably have its home there, but it isn't necessarily going to be into the wilds of Xen'drik. Either character would work.
I think I will stick with the changling artificer and leave any direct Dragonmarked house contact out of it.

I'm thinking changeling. Not sure what character class, but, mmm, changeling.
It is worth noting that I will be away for a couple of weeks at the end of this week. So you might need to NPC my character quite a lot to start with.
Aaaaagh, someone else got changeling. Can't have two, would seem a bit silly. Maybe something else. Something short. Mmmm, short....

I am starting to piece together a character concept for my Wildhunt Shifter ranger. Born in Breland (Shifter to be named) spent his late youth during the war (assuming we are playing post-war)at Orcbone, a fort on the western border. He acted as a scout for the Westwind Riders. After the war, he has watched the borders for any hositilities. Recently, an officer at the fort was murdered. Shifter (to be named) has been charged with searching for clues and bringing the murderer to justice. He has followed the scent of orcblood to Xen'drik. He has recently left the harbor at Stormreach and now finds himself in a rank tavern. Sometimes he wishes that his nose wasn't so good.

Ruuz is my changeling artificer who was born in Sharn and he is hiding from House Cannith in Stormreach after impersonating a d'Cannith to learn his skills as a artificer.
I have a more detailed background but I don't know if you want to keep the characters backgrounds unknown between the players. If you want I can email you his background and character sheet.

I would love to play. I'm thinking a shifter psionic warrior, from the Eldeen Reaches come to the city to learn more about his powers and live in a faster, fiercer environment. Any interest?
I don't want to say no out of hand, but this is one of the character concepts that I will need convincing on. I just don't see shifters with the discipline for psionics, except wilders.
On the other hand we need another tank...
See what you can come up with, either a convincing back story, or a different concept.

I have currently accepted:
Aubrey - Goblin Wizard
Dreamweaver - Changeling Artificer
Utak - Shifter Ranger
The Eldritch Mr. Shiny - Warforged Druid
I am considering:
Whimsy Chris - Shifter Psionic Warrior
Mothman - Human explorer
I am still deciding if 6 will be too many.

My earlier post must have been eaten. I have the start of a character concept that will hopefully get me on board.
My Wildhunt Shifter Ranger grew up in Breland at the fort called Orcbone. Orcbone guards Breland’s western border. In his late youth, he acted as a scout during the war (assuming this campaign is taking place post-war) for the Westwind Riders. Scouting out any attacks from Droaam, then informing the calvary. Since the war has ended, he is still scouting out the area. Recently an officer at the fort was murderered. My shifter has been charged with finding the murderer and bringing him/her to justice. My Shifter (to be named) has followed the scent of orc blood to Xen’drik. He has recently left the harbor in Stormreach and now finds himself in a rank tavern. He wishes that sometimes his nose wasn’t so good.

I wasnt sure if I should post the background. I could always delete it if need be. I tried to figure out those cool spoiler things, but alas my lack of brilliance has won again. Any tips would be appreciated. This is my first PbP.

General Rules:
32 point point-buy
Core books, everything eberron, the rest by permission only
I can be reached here, or by email at vlad.derosa.mps@gmail.com with questions
Okay, some house rules,
Number 1, once we have a party, someone needs to be elected leader. Their special job is to keep things on track. That is, if someone misses posting for 24 hours, come up with something characterful for them to do, if it is their turn. I don't like being the auto pilot.
2. feats which let you use old skills new ways (urban tracking, investigation, et al) grant you a +10 to the task, and if successful grant additional insight. For example, any body can make the DC 22 check to find the blood stain, the person with investigate will find it on a 12, and will no the person was laying still bleeding for an hour before they were moved on a 22.
3. I grant bonus action points for exciting actions. I hit it with my sword, no free point, I step on the skeleton wolf, to jump over the skeleton, to get to the necromancer behind gets a free point... 2 AoO, but a free action point
more to come

post it if you want people to read it, email it if you don't.
and spoiler is <spoiler> stuff </spoiler> with [] instead of <>, you can hit the show button under the posts for a short guide

Well, I'll chip in a character concept just in case. I'm thinking a human Swashbuckler/Rogue, mabye with a few levels of Beguiler thrown in. What level is the campaign? I should mention that I know nothing about Ebberon, I have never played in a campaign set there so if I suggest something that isn't allowed in that world let me know.
For the DM only
If you want to create a spoiler than you just go into the BBCode tags on the screen where you create a post and then copy and paste the spoiler one in your post. Replace the instructions for using the spoiler with whatever you want there and then it should work. Hope that helps.

Whimsy Chris - Shifter Psionic Warrior
Mothman - Human explorerI am still deciding if 6 will be too many.
Hey mate, I don't want to steal Chris' spot, so I'll give him time to get back to you with another character concept.
Assuming things work out and I'm in, does the explorer work for you? I will almost certainly begin as a rogue, probably building up to the Extreme Explorer PrC, maybe with some levels of ranger or barbarian or some-such along the way... Does a background with Morgrave University suit?

Let me grin as I think about the valenar ranger/rogue/extreme explorer from my PNP game.
Only reason I haven't said yes to you Moth is because you are in Aubrey's game.. spread the eberron

Yep, I hear that. Same reason I almost didn't put my hand up. Well, like I said, I don't intend to steal Chris' spot, and if you are considering another, Arctaris is a dedicated gamer and a good strategist, so you've got some solid choices either way.

Since you want the privacy
The concept is fine, if it isn't evil.

What is an 'action point'?
You get a certain number of action points per level. Specifically 5 +1/2 char level.
Any time you roll a d20 you can spend an action point to add a d6 to the roll.
Or you can spend 2 action points to reuse certain class abilities, like rage or smite evil, an extra time.
There are also a bunch of action based feats that give you either more action points, or more things to do with them.

Thanks Mothman, for your consideration.
I've never done an online play by post and am really just wanting to try it out. If you've got others Dragonmann, don't let me get in the way.
As far as a character, if you're concerned about two shifters in the party, I can figure something else out. I was going for a very "feral" character, but an elven rogue would do just fine. Either way, I'd be CG.

I didn't get the sense that Dragonmann had an issue with two shifters, more that he needed convincing on how a shifter would have become a psionic warrior... If you've got a good background idea for it, I'd try to convince him - or else find something similar that fits your feral background idea. I like shifter barbarians myself, but maybe you could get the same sort of idea as your feral psionic warrior using a barbarian / sorcerer build or something?

I was far less concerned with the two shifters than I was with the shifter - psychic warrior. If you want feral, I would allow a shifter - barbarian without hesitation. Same with a half orc anything.
And there are always the seren.
Arctaris, your concept will be in once you refine it.
And I will hold a 6th place for you Chris, see what you come up with.

Hey, here's an idea Dragonmann. I'm off the list (but if I can be your first reserve that'd be cool) ... but if it suits both yourself and Aubrey, I could run his goblin wizard while he's away, if you wanted to start the game before he got back. I'd have a bit of time, since presumably Aubrey's game wouldnt be running at the time either...
Only if that suits everyone of course.

I'm fine with it if he is, but I still won't be starting for a few days once I have characters, so it won't be much time.

Ok, well I'll only do so if Aubrey is comfortable with it, and if it makes sense to do so - if there's only a couple days gap, probably not worth it...

My concept for a shifter phychic warrior came from -Magic of Eberron- which mentions in passing that there are occasional occurances of "wild psionic talent". I was thinking that this Shifter found at an early age that he was different from others because of his ability to manipulate his body using his mind. His mind also seemed sharper, more focused, like a hunter or panther. He remained a loner because of this difference, spending more time in the woods than in towns or villages. Eventually his "freakiness" led him to want to leave the Eldeen Reaches and find a mentor. Perhaps he found a kalashtar (or for a twist, Inspired) mentor in Stormreach. However, he still remains pretty wild and aloof.
However, if you are still concerned about the physic warrior aspect, I would gladly play the shifter barbarian or the elven rogue.
Thank you! I'm excited to play.
