Just wondering: Does a freedom of movement spell or ring protect the beneficiary from the (non-banishing) effects of the blasphemy/holy word-type spells?
It seems like FoM would provide protection versus the Paralyze effect (up to caster level -5). Though, it obviously would not help versus the blind/deaf/kill/banish effects. Eh, that's how I would rule it anyways.

Good. Thanks, guys. That's what I thought too. So if you've got a bad guy with unlimited blasphemy spells and minions, the PCs are in dreadful trouble.... :-)
No, if you've got a bad guy with unlimited blasphemy spells, what you have is a DM with another campaign idea he wants to try ;)

CH, I liked your comment. :-)
No, I’m not looking for another campaign idea (it’ll probably be Rise of the Runelords), but one of the encounters in an existing AP I’m referring to: [spoiler alert]

The final encounter of City of Broken Idols has just such a situation. If I DO run the encounter that way, it’s certainly a TPK. I want it to be challenging, but not a TPK. Maybe blasphemy for, say, 5 rounds… Mwu hahahahaha. ;-)
