Will paizo put out novels on Rise of the Rune Lords?
Good point Brent!
James! Erik! - Hands up over here! Before he says anything Logue hasn't written a novel and I have an email to prove it - whereas my book Empire is of course, with its styesesque flavour and shifty politicans, a fine grounding in writing further novels.
Shuffles away expecting usual agents photocopied slip saying 'thank you for your interest in submitting a novel, sadly...'

I thought novels would be great. When I really got into playing D&D it wasn't the core books that excited me, it was actually the novels. If it hadn't been for Salvatore how popular would FR be. Even short stories about the iconic characters would help.
Oh, and I am waiting ever so patiently for as much infomation about the Pathfinder world. I even got a subscription, which I didn't have to Dragon or Dungeon.

An anthology would be awesome; not necessarily themed (_Magic of Varisia_), but like Brent writes, stories fleshing out the characters.
Oh, and FR was way-popular BEFORE the Drizzt-craze, by-the-by...

I second (third? fourth? etc.) the notion for future novels or short stories (excellent idea for potential submissions by unknowns...hint, hint).
However don't overdo it. While I like some of the fiction put forth by WotC it has a tendency, mainly with the Realms at the moment, to make it feel like it's difficult to fit actual campaigns in there with all the other things being done by the high-powered NPCs. They've done much better with Eberron fiction (so far) as it hasn't given the same feeling of PC helplessness as there haven't been any world-changing moments, etc.
I hope that if there is Varisia fiction in the future that it follows the current Eberron model rather than the Realms model.

meaning you'll only ask established writers to provide it?

I have to say, I personally enjoyed your book Empire. Shifty politicians indeed, but "styesesque" may be a bit inaccurate, Mr. Card.
