Here's the question I need to know to make a decision about where my money and subscription credit is going to go....

Is Paizo independent from WotC? Or are they tied to the publications department (from whence they came?)

'Cause frankly, I want to send a message, and that message is "I'm pissed". I don't want to give WotC my money right now, and I'll be reluctant to do so in the future, too.

I just want to make sure I'm paying the good guys here.

My understanding is when a company is spun off, the former parent company has little or no control of the new company. If this understanding is correct, then Paizo being spun off means not buying from them does not hurt WOTC in the slightest. It would only hurt Paizo.

I could dig out my accounting notes to make sure for you...

Does Paizo even have publicly traded stock? There a company I'd like to invest in...

Paizo is a privately-held company, independent of Wizards of the Coast or anybody else.

If you ever do decide to make an IPO, please make an announcement about it here...

Who owns Paizo...how much to buy it?

Ummm... One BILLION dollars!!

Seriously, though, that's the thing with private companies. Paizo is a labor of love. I can't imagine it being sold anytime soon. But then again, I'm not an owner, just a happy employee. :-)
