Met Elmore at MegaCon in Orlando a few years back--nice guy. For some freakish reason I had my beat-up copy of the D&D Expert Rules in my backpack. Needless to say when I found out he was there I had it signed.
Loved his covers, but it's his B&W line art in the BXCMI sets that really made me appreciate his art and set the mood for my earliest D&D experiences.

From the FAQ:
Will the final issues of the magazines include any special content?
Most definitely! With more than 50 years of history between them, we couldn’t let these fantastic magazines go out without a bang. Both will be special oversized issues. Dragon will feature two commemorative posters and a cover by Larry Elmore, and Dungeon’s gatefold cover will feature all 11 Paizo “iconics” in a scene painted by Wayne Reynolds. Dungeon #150 will also include a complete index of all adventures ever published in the magazine. Dragon #359 will include a special feature exploring the greatest “unsolved mysteries” of D&D, we’ll enjoy another installment of the Demonomicon, and no doubt some of our faithful contributors throughout the years will want to include some special memories for the historic final issues of these venerable magazines. Keep your eyes on paizo.com for announcements of additional special content.

Met Elmore at MegaCon in Orlando a few years back--nice guy.
I concurr completely. For me, it was '06 GenCon and he had a booth with several staff; one to run the register, one to get the prints, and one as a personal aid. He eating McDonald's and graciously took the time to look through our portfolio. (and despite the secret sauce he made sure to be quite careful while doing so) But what was really moving was that he actually LOOKED-LOOKED. Went through every page, some twice. Ended up signing one of our pieces with a few words of encouragement that still serve as an inspiration.
All in all, a classy guy.
I was admittedly too 'star struck' to take a pic, but if I can figure out how to post an image on these boards (and its allowed) I'll show off what his autograph.
He's the best choice to do the final cover. Well, 2nd best if you count us. ;)

p.s. ended up buying a print of the fighter vs. red dragon which graced the cover of the boxed the Basic Set, to which he made an 'old school' comment. lol
