Hi everyone!
As a player i would be interested if you guys could give me some ideas on how to raise spell DCs to the fullest, so that our group would have a chance against Dragotha and other menaces.
The basics i am familiar with, but i am looking for any thing extra besides these methods:
- raising ability scores
- adding spell focus feats
- using a focus item
Thanks for any help! Our lives depends on this :)

Use spells that have an attack roll. These are usually ranged touch attacks. That way there isn't any save DC to worry about. However, most of these allow for spell resistance. Melf's Acid Arrow doesn't allow a saving throw or spell resistance, but I don't think it does enough damage to do what you want.
Also, spells like Haste, Greater Heroism, Mass Bull's Strength/Mass Bear's Endurance, and Magic Circle against Evil are useful for improving your party's chances. The Summon Monster or Summon Nature's Ally spells are good for getting others to help you fight, and they don't allow for a saving throw.
Spell Focus and Greater Spell Focus are useful for improving save DCs, but only for the specific school of magic (Evocation is most useful for these feats). Spell Penetration and Greater Spell Penetration are useful for getting past Spell Resistance.
That's all I can think of right now.

Thanks but we need to force the beast to the positive energy plane. That's our plan. We could trick it but it would probably just dont come on it's own, so we thought of sending it.
For this we would use a heightened plane shift or something similar. The only problem is that the save DC for the spell should be crazy high if we would want to succeed... So that's why I am asking you if there are any tips on doing this, besides the methods I wrote above.
I was wondering if a gate spell cast under or in the way of a speeding dragon would automatically send it through to the other plane?

Up to your DM but I'd say no - Generally you can stop during the course of things like double moves. Maybe you could grease it in or something but I doubt it.
Also if your planning on making Dragotha fail a critical save I think your out of luck. It is one thing to raise your spell DC by a few points and another thing to get it to the point where a creature of Dragotha's stature is 75% likely to blow the roll.

I did read about a party who used grease and a PC shapechanged into a titan to bull rush Dragotha through a gate to the positive energy plane. But he might have means of escaping before he could be destroyed there.

Hmmm! You should be careful surfing this section of the boards to avoid spoiling your fun. Better to post a query like this in the general D&D section, which will have a broader readership, and you can get some more general tactical pointers regarding your question. In general, buffing the appropriate spellcasting ability and taking the spell focus and greater spell focus feats will help you raise DCs--but with an opponent like Dragotha, even if he misses his saving throws, you probably will have difficulty beating his spell resistance.
Your plan sounds clever, but not particularly flexible--if one thing doesn't go right, you'll have wasted a couple of rounds of actions, and you'll be wormfood. No plan survives contact with the enemy. You're much better off casting buffs on yourselves and using healing magic to keep everyone in the battle.

If anyone has use magic device or is a druid. Get scrolls of Owls insight for clerics it rules. Gives you a + insight bouns to WIS equal to half the caster LV. We bought 2 scrolls from a 20 lv Druid gives us a +10 insight to WIS our saves are crazy. Right now my saves are a 23 for a ZERO Lv spell.
Whats the source fpor this spell?
Edit: Never mind - DM Tools knows all. Source is Spell Compendium.

Magic items are always good. You could probably have your DM give some small side adventures for treasure hunting, selling items that are obsolete and having some stuff shipped to Magepoint from the Free City. Or you could beg Manzorian for some freebies. The side quests could also be a valuable source of XP for levelling and such.
The Malacanthet Dragon had a list of spells without SR. One of my favorites is Orb of Force. No save no SR. Nice

Well, there is a cheesy way to get Dragotha.
You should have Dragotha's Phylactery by the end of Kings of the Rift.
Cast Trap the Soul on the Phylactery using the Object Tigger option. You have Dragotha's name and the phylactery is valuable enough for his number of hit dice. Make sure the name and trigger word as scribe on the bottom so it is not visible. This method means that spell resistance and the saving throw doesn't apply
During the party's encounter with Dragotha, it is time to so some serious roleplaying. Dragotha wants his phylactery back at any cost but may get suspicious if the party just offers it. If the party can con Dragotha into taking the phylactery by bartering it or offering it up as bribe to save their lives or seeming to abandoning it (it is fairly large) while running away - anything to fool Dragotha into assuming the puny mortals can be intimidated, threatened or duped into giving up the phylactery. In his arrogance and greed to get his phylactery back, he is likely to grab it up without checking for spells if the party's acting is up to task.
At any rate, if Dragotha touches the phylactery without checking to see if it enspelled, it is a done deal. No SR, no spell resistance = one soul trapped dracolich.
Cheesy, but it works if the party is up to running a con to get Dragotha to accept it without checking it out first.

You basically have to make the DM screw himself (or herself) over. Good luck getting one to do that. Its just way to easy for the DM to justify using someing on the Phylactory. I mean Dragotha has been able to go to it for centuries - he just has'nt because he's been suspicious of a trap.
