Adimarchus finally Defeated

Shackled City Adventure Path

After 2 1/2 years of constant struggle my heroes of Cauldron finally defeated Adimarchus Tuesday evening. In an epic 4 hour struggle Cade (tallfellow halfling, smoking eye rog 3/wiz 7/blood magus 10), her wife Lilly (elven/1/2 bronze dragon sor 10/dragon disciple 10), Tlyn (cleric of Fharlarghan 20), Erasmus (Ftr 15/tempest 5), Quisha (Paladin 17/purple knight 3), and Nidrama bumped a few fighter levels battled the demon prince of madness to his ulitmate defeat. Only one hero was lost in the battle (thanks to Tlyn's constant battlefield surgury) and that ironicly enough was Cade.

This was the best published campaign I have ever had the honor of running with the best PC's any DM could ask for. Saddly, four of the original six players who began the campaign in those dark, trapped filled halls of Jazdirune where unable to complete the adventure with us, but ultimately were their in spirit. Loran elven cleric of Corellon Larithian who now tends to the small flock of elven and 1/2elven worshipers in Cauldron (relocated just before Zeinith), Arn 1/2orc monk called to greater service (deployed to Iraq), Val ft/purple knight/sentinal also called to greater service elsewhere (deployed to Germany), and Giegan barb/sorc/rage mage also called to greater service elsewhere.

Now, its on to AOW. So long as the quality of the AP can be maintained I hope they go on for a long time.

Well done to you and your players (past and present) Walter. That's a real achievement. I hope our group can get there too one day (nearing the end of Flood Season, so there's a while to go...)

Congratulations!

Now it's time for Age of Worms! :)

Congratulations! I've heard of a lot of people who reached Adimarchus but could not finish him, so your group's accomplishment is something to be proud of. And to the brothers and sisters who have been called to greater service, keep fighting the good fight. We are all honored by them.

I would like to thank everyone for there responses, AOW begins in April!

Congratulations! Our group recently finished Strike on Shatterhorn, so hopefully the party will defeat Adimarchus soon. Currently all at level 18, with one at level 19.

Sincere congratulations. Best of luck too with the Age of Worms, which is just as good in my view. I hope you had as much fun as we did, and that when you play AoW you'll have as much fun as we're having.

Lucky you. My party hit the first encounter after the giants, the fighter jumped upon the alter and poof! While he chopped his way out of his acidy bath, the cleric scryed, while the rog/wiz/Bm picked up the ring and was quickly sliced and diced by the medusa. Once the lost ftr was found (lucky for him the cleric enchanted his rapier Embril had already done her deed and plane shifted away, the drow had the rapier. They teleported in kicked but (captured the drow), and then left for Cauldron, and proceeded on to Assylum. The drow escaped swearing revenge for the death of his lady love.

They actually finished the path with Alustani and one other cagewright (from SoS) still unaccounted for, and Mhad still on the run. In the aftermath, I will keep Alustani around to reoccur if we visit these PC's again, the drow I will probably have found insane, the other missing cagewright as well. They also captured one cagewright in foundation of flame (the pretty boy) and turned him over to Cauldron. He also went on to become insane when adimarchus was freed/slain.

Adimarchus has finally fallen for my group as well (actually, Shebleth, God of the Galchutt in Nehwon has fallen) after a year and a half of solid gaming. Seven PC deaths overall.

Lord Vhlantru was certainly the highlight of the campaign. He made himself a patron of the party early on. I also played up a lot of racial tension in the city, with Lord V wanting to rule with an iron hand. Many, many discussions on whether he could be trusted or not. Once he was revealed as a beholder, there was great joy that they could finally act against him.

Dugobras turned out to be the second highlight. After killing one player, he managed to escape during the Demonskar. He was reencountered in the Fiery Sanctum where the PCs trapped him in a forcecage. After boasting of being the greatest smith in all of Nehwon, the PCs were torn on whether to be judge, jury and executioner right there or take him back to town. The lawful types eventually won out but not without some hard feelings.

Great fun was had by all with the DM getting to enjoy things without tons of work. APs all the way from now on. Next up, Savage Tide.

You can poke around our campaign here if you're interested:

Out of curiousity, why skip the Age of Worms?

Just never grabbed me the way Savage Tide did.
