Over Arm Throw - "Dumb Reminders" (No Use For A Name cover)
These guys are really good at playing their instruments, but their grasp on the English language (or lack thereof) makes this cover a complete gut-buster.

TNX - "Why Doesn't Anybody Like Me?" (No Use For A Name cover)
Another Japanese No Use For A Name cover, but this band actually took the time to learn the words.

The Lord Weird Slough Feg - Traveller
It's metal, and not particularly proggy, which is odd for me, but it is an awesome space opera story.

I didn't find Slough Feg til later Ape Uprising! Track 7 Ape Outro. The vocals reminded me of Dee Snider. Met a guy at GenCon with the band shirt. He'd been to about 12 of their shows. Would love to see them live!

Warcrab - local doom/sludge band. They play heavy
Old Man Gloom - The Ape of God
Had a weird release with a fake review copies (with alternate mixes in a different sequence) and was then released as two albums with the same name.
Hard to find the real thing online. The link is to the head-messing version.

I just realized that my reasons for liking two of my favorite bands are quite similar, despite the bands' outward dissimilarity.
3-piece NoCal punk band Jawbreaker features a tight rhythm section comprising bassist Chris Bauermeister and drummer Adam Pfahler. Singer/guitarist Blake Schwarzenbach sounds OK at singing and guitar, but writes amazing lyrics that drive the songs home.
3-piece Canadian prog rock band Rush features a tight rhythm section comprising singer/bassist Geddy Lee and drummer Neil Peart. Guitarist Alex Lifeson is very good, but pales in comparison to his bandmates, and Peart's lyrics shine through it all.

It was pretty badass.

I like it because it's better at being mid '70s Fleetwood Mac than mid '70s Fleetwood Mac were.
I'm still not sure about The Courage Of Others. I should like it even more, but have never really managed to get into it. Maybe it needs a few more listens...
