Requested info; asking for suggestions

3.5/d20/OGL

ok; am running a game and dont know all the 3.5 books very well, and though i have a lot of Dragon mags nad Dungeon and stuff, I haven't read most of them.

I am looking for anything in any book to do with frogs; frogs are going to be the main bad guy in my game at the moment; characters are about 4th now; so am looking for all types of frogs and frog men; froglike humanoids; frog theme empires; anything like that; if anyone has any suggestions i would appreciate it. I will probably make up a lot of stuff myself; but would like to look at other peeps stuff in case i can use it.
thank much.

If you use the Anthromorphic Animal Template, you can make Frogmen yourself, I can't think of any mysef at the moment. And using them, you can also potentially make a "Half-Frog" template using the Chameleon Template (it being similar to frogs with it's abilities). It's in the Faerun - Underdark book.

Then as a silly example, the Titantic Template (Forgot what book, someone else might get it for ya) features a giant frog as it's example and makes for a giant thing for when you get into epic ^^ (or just lower how the template works to make it lower level capable).

Sahaugin (I know I spelled it wrong) are similar, but more fishlike. Guessing you could try to make them more froglike, but I don't know how that'd work myself.

I know this doesn't help much, but I hope I helped somehow.

Look up the monster 'Bullywug'... They're pretty frog-like.

To clarify for Ultradan, Monsters of Faerun is where to find the Bullywug

Liberty's Edge

Dude-- read "Legacy of Heorot" by Larry Niven. Not an actual frog per se, but it's along those lines, and the creature was based on the habits of an African frog... Best "steal this monster" novel evar.

Frog-related monsters:
Bullywug (Monsters of Faerun)
Froghemoth from "The Champion’s Belt" (Dungeon 128, page 61).
Slaad- MM (Blue, Death, Gray, Green, Red), Epic-Level Handbook (Black, White), Fiend Folio (Mud)

Adventures:
Dungeon #101 has “Prison of the Firebringer”, about a trapped slaad lord. Although nominally set in Forgotten Realms, it’s easy to set elsewhere.
IIRC, there’s a high-level adventure in Dungeon with an awakened Titanic spellcasting toad, but can’t remember the adventure name or issue.

God:
Wastri, “The Hopping Prophet”. This is a minor Greyhawk god, who’s concerned with frogs and racial supremacy, for some weird reason. I imagine that someone has a link to website that can give you more info. His followers probably include bullywugs and human cultists.

If my memory is correct, in one of the Dungeon Magazines from two years ago (around issue 105 more or less) in the "Critical Threat" section there's a Were-Toad bad-guy that was pretty cool.

Here are a few more to add --

Bullywug (Monsters of Faerun)
Red, Blue, Green, & Gray Slaads (Monster Manual)
Mud Slaad (Fiend Folio)
Black and White Slaads (Epic Level Handbook)
Froghemoth (Dungeon 128)
Firetongue Frog (Dragon 285)
Killer Frog (Dungeon 126)

There are, of course, a lot of templates that you can use to modify existing creatures either changing existing frog-like creatures or making others more frog-like.

Good luck and hope this helps.

Dungeon 118, Throne of Iuz, features King Bog One-eye, a titanic awakened toad.

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/oa/20070223a I just checked the Wizards D&D homepage and they talk about an adventure, the link above to "Return to the Temple of the Frog" which is for 10th level adventurers, but hey, suitable for later.

Dragon 324 features a player race called the Grippli; basically primitive humanoid treefrogs.

Could be great if you want NPC's instead of monsters :)

cool, I forgot about hte grippli; have the bullywugs and some of the other base monster frogs, but thanks for all the things I forgot and the book references. Am kinda looking for humoniad frogs; perhaps aberations arounf 6-8 hit dice before I introduce the slaad. Thanks for all the suggestions. I wanted to check out what was in play before I started making stuff from scratch. Hehe gotta check out them weretoads :)

I know you said you are still looking for the 6-8 HD range, but as another suggestion for a PC/NPC race more than a monster, the Neraph from the planar handbook are a LA 0 race that is very much like a "are they realted to slaad or not?" kind of species. Just a thought.

cool; will look into it; thanks
