The spell-like ability specifies that "A vine horror can use this ability at will to animate any single strand of sargasso within 90 feet. An animated vine fights as an assassin vine."
Let's say you have one vine horror in a 5 round combat. Does their ability let them a) animate a vine each round for a total of 5 assassin vines or b) only have one animated vine up at a time, example: animate a vine on round 1, that vine is killed on round 4, so they can animate another one on round 5?

It takes an action for a vine horror to animate vines, but once it's going, it goes until it's killed or the horror moves out of range (90 feet). Each vine horror can have one vine going at a time, and if its vine dies or whatever, it can animate a new one.
It's best to fight vine horrors in places where their animated vines can't reach.

The group just found the Captain's Log in the Rage. The three assassin vines almost toasted the entire group. A situational weak floor was added which broke away when the lead character trod upon it - while this was the primary cause of the group having to fight the vines, they are nasty - So, your point in a previous post re not changing things is noted.
Looking into the future, will the assassin vine entangle ability affect the vine horrors in any negative way? Common sense says no - but not sure if rules support this? How many assassin vines can constrict a character at once?
Given the horror's malleability - Can it actually move under and through the Sargasso itself (perhaps only using it's swim speed though)? Seems to make sense to me (sort of like fighting wraiths popping up from below). Any thought that a horror draws an AOO when it pops up next to an opponent? (I'm assuming because the ability does not say it can attack through cracks, it must move to a clear spot to attack - eg. it must exit the sargasso mat to attack)
The a-vines seem to be the major threat once animated with the horrors piling on once the a-vine is grappling/constricting. With the horror's int/wis, i'd say they send their vines at the small-folk and spellcasters first.
Also - Questions re the Mother. I assume that either two things happen - The party (all or some) goes down the Maw (probably after checking it with some light) or they decide to just try "blasting" from above.
Can the Mother be harmed by blasting away from above? I assume so - she does not have the malleability feature of the horrors so it is likely that if the PCs drop a light they see her hanging out there at the bottom. Of course, they may not know what they are looking at... I suppose if they start blasting, she would use her transport ability to rise to the top and smack the characters about up there. I imagine with her int/wis, move and bonuses bull rush would be a favored tactic to dump PCs into the maw.
Any other thoughts on tactics would be appreciated. Thanks!

Catsclaw: I had the same thought while prepping the adv today. Why wouldnt the MoAll just transport behind a group of her onrushing vine horrors?
She could then fight the PC's with the aid of all of her children. I'm not going to have her do this, because it's got TPK written all over it, but I don't see any reason why it couldn't happen.
