The two of you who posted already... There is a whistle in Adventure Gear. I dont see us needing another in the hoped for set 2.
A drum is a good idea. I would like to see a harp and recorder as well. An alternate lantern and more torches is a good idea.
Another backpack and a more expensive looking lock would be nice additions to the gear. I just got this set and already I look forward to more adventure gear cards. Please make it non-random like this first set!

How many people would buy an "Adventure Gear 2" set (assume the same number of cards, price, etc.).
--Erik
Just about everyone who bought Adventure Gear #1. :)
Seriously though, anyone who's bought into AG1, already enjoys handing out cards for their mundane items, and with the limited size of AG1, Adventure Gear #2 would help fill out what's missing.
Count me in for 6 sets.

![]() |

I usually run groups of 4-5 PCs so I picked up 4 packs of Adventure Gear. I'd probably pick up that many of a second set.
Two thoughts about shifting towards camplete sets though.
#1 - foils! It took me a while to figure out what to do with them, but now I really like foils. I use non-foils from all sets as mundane items and magic items the PCs haven't figured out are magic yet. Once they Detect Magic, I swap them for foils (if they do indeed turn ot to be magic). Is there any way to work foils into a complete-set model? Maybe a Deluxe Set printed on foil for a few bucks more?
#2 - trading. I hated the idea of random cards as much as anyone else, and there are about 5 cards from Heroes' Hoard and Relics of War that I have STILL not managed to track down, but I must confess I've had a lot of fun swaping cards with folks from the Paizo message boards. I'd be sad to see random cards disappear completely. At this point, most folks probably have a pretty good base assortment of cards to work with so you could probably put out an occasional Speacial Randomized set once in a while with some of the more unusual and special items, potential artifacts and what not.
What ever you all decide to do, another Adventure Gear would be great!

I DM in my group & I bought 5 sets of Adventure Gear #1.
My players are notorious for forgetting to choose equipment & write it down on their character sheets; this makes it MUCH easier for them, and easier for me when I ask,"Are you SURE you have rope?"
Amaril |

Here's an idea for item cards:
1. Produce a complete deck of each set so that it's easy to obtain at least one of every card.
2. Produce booster packs for each set so that it's easy to add additional items, especially items that are usually purchased in quantities (e.g. - flasks of holy water, caltrops, torches, etc.)
This model could be ideal. In fact, if complete decks of the first two booster sets were produced, I'd consider buying them as well.

![]() |

If we sold both decks and boosters, I'm not sure we could sell enough boosters to be profitable.
(By the way, the people who thought that we were doing booster packs as some kind of money grab couldn't be more wrong—our profit margins are much better on decks than boosters. All that randomizing and extra packaging is expensive!)

JM |

I also motion for the call for Adventure Gear Pack #2
I bought six packs of AG #1 and I'd gladly buy six more of AG #2.
Two other DMs I play with have also bought 5-6 decks of each of the Item Card decks.
Complete decks please! - NO Random Stuff
Paizo, strike while the iron is HOT.... these Item Cards seem to be a HUGE hit! - Don’t let the excitement/idea cool down...

Put me down for at least 5 of AG2. I LOVE Ad.Gear 1 and so do my players. Personally, I can't get enough of these cards as long as they're useful and the Adventure Gear pack is much more useful than the earlier packs (though they have their own usefulness in a certain niche). The mundane items kinda demand a one-for-every-character system and so you've managed to secure my purchasing future in no time!
Coins, outfits, different quality locks, keys, more books (including different quality spellbooks), jewelry, different rations (maybe something more "travel"-friendly), ale & spirits, different cups, different amulets/periapts, maybe some artsy-fartsy stuff like figurines and paintings...it's all good.

I would. The thing about these cards, though, is I plan on placing them in sleeves and handing them out as players equip themselves and find things on their adventures (which is probably the no-brainer use of these cards), but does anyone know where or how to get duplicates of "common" items? Backpacks, pouches, rations, rope, and bedroll just to name a few are cards I could use multiples of. One for each character.

JMkimba |

things like torches are in short supply.
Hey Kyle B -
How I handle issuing a multiples of things like torches, rations, arrows is:I issue one card of each; then I put a 2” x 2” removable label/sticker (from Avery) on the back of those item cards.
The stickers indicate a set quantity, like 10 for food, torches, crossbow bolts, and 20 for arrows. Kind of like 10 little check boxes.
The players just check off how may they buy/find and erase each check mark as they use the items…. Works well for our group.

JM |

MORE Mundane Item Cards!!!
- Different Types of Clothing: merchant clothing, peasant clothing, etc - different materials for clothing: furs, leather, cloth, silks, etc. (could even dedicate a whole deck to this one)
- Furs, Animal pelts
- Cold-weather clothing
- Mundane boots, shoes, sandals, gloves, gauntlets, bandoleers
- Mundane cloaks
- Art objects
- Jewelry - broaches, bracelets, earrings, armbands, headbands
- Ornate boxes, Jewelry boxes, chests
- Exotic books (more of them)
- MASTERWORK Thieves Tools, Disguise & Healers Kits (and other various kits)
- Mount related items- barding/armor, tack & harness, feed
- Mounts- horses, other mounts, animals (for trade or animal companions)
- Row Boat
- Wagons (different wagons- from small/cheap to expensive lavish coaches)
- Horse Carts
- Paper
- Parchment
- Colored (exotic Inks)
- Empty Flasks/Bottles
- More Lanterns (Different Kinds)
- Alchemy Items
- Expensive or Meta-Magic Spell Components
- EVEN mundane spell components as listed in another post (a full deck could be allocated to this one)
- More Wine Bottles
- Exotic Ales, beers, mead, other alcohol
- DRY rations (Dried meats, fruits... whatever consists of Dry rations I guess)
- FRESH Rations: meats, cheeses, breads, etc.
- Tobacco (cheap & expensive), pipes
- Spices (mundane & exotic)
- Soap, perfumes
- Barrels, jugs
- Different styles & quality of each armor type (from mundane to masterwork)
- Different Helmets (from mundane helm caps to mundane & masterwork full helms with visors)
Make them 110 card packs!! (none of this random stuff)

I bought full-sheet removable labels to custom print a perfect sized square for the back and do exactly what you're saying. However, if each character has a card for torches, and they find a corpse in a dark alley, I need ANOTHER card if that body has a torch on it. I love using a small envelope for treasure. i.e. Party kills bad guy and I give them a sealed envelope. It's like Christmas every time they loot the bodies!

Nice way to spring a trap on PCs as well. Open an envelope marked "chest" and - POOF! - a little card that says POISON GAS TRAP.
Hey... maybe put trap cards or random hazards on the Someday list along with spell cards and crit cards.

Doc_Outlands |

TRAPS!! omg, that's fiendish!! Naturally, I shall use it as soon as possible
Yeah, sign me up for an AdGear #2, as well - most definitely.
Something that just flitted thru my brain-cells... what about a "not quite booster" set that uses the "standard adventurer's kit" model? Each pack would have a backpack (maybe 4-5 different designs here?) and then a varying - tho limited - selection of the more common basic gear, like thieves' tools, torches, rope, grappling hook, and so on. Yeah, it would be a random assortment, but if you keep the selection limited (particularly to reprints of AdGear 1 & 2 cards), the utility would go up, I think. Other suggestions?
(I've had to put Item Cards on my Christmas List - the joys of having children who grow and demand new clothing and food!)

Amaril |

Regarding the comparison of sales between boosters and decks, is that a direct comparison? Meaning if you took the exact same cards in a deck and offered them in booster packs that didn't include anything additional, would they sales comparison be the same? My guess would be that buyers wouldn't be frustrated with trying to get at least one of a particular card if its available in the deck, unlike the new cards in Hero's Hoard that can only be acquired randomly or the entire set of Relics of War which is entirely random.
In other words, I believe the sales of the boosters might be greater under the following conditions:
- A set was available as a deck that can be a baseline purchase
- Add-on boosters included more commonly used items (rope, backpack, bag, etc.) and fewer infrequently used items (whetstone, disguise kit, dice, cards, etc.).
My mentality to this approach is that I could purchase the set deck, guaranteeing at least one of each and purchase boosters to get additional frequently used items that I know every player will have at least one of.
As it is now, if I have five players, I end up needing 5 packs at $10 each, just to make sure the each have a backpack. That's $50 I have to spend on a purchase that includes 5 copies of other items that I don't need.
Am I alone in this thought?

Rhothaerill |

I am just about to order a few decks and boosters and I was thinking about this. I would tend to agree with Amaril that boosters would probably sell better if you could be assured of getting the more common items rather than a random chance. Like him I don't want to buy a deck of adventure gear for each player since many of those cards would go to waste. But I would buy boosters that I was sure contained the "common" items that everyone has such as a backpack and bedroll.
Perhaps for the weapon cards you could rearrange boosters so that you'd have one booster of all swords, and one of all blunt weapons, etc. Have a potion booster for the magic items separate from the rest, a ring booster, a wands/staves/rods booster, etc.
It would probably mean a bit of work to make the allocations like that, but I think it would make the booster packs far more palatable for the average consumer to be able to know which cards they will get out of a booster the same as they know what they are getting from the full deck.
See guys, I told you that you should get rid of Bulmahn and hire me instead as the resident architect/McArtor insulter. :)

I'm a little late to this party, but I'd love to see more mundane gear. I have 2 sets each of Item Pack 1 and Adventurer Gear, and am waiting to buy more packs until there are more equipment packs available. I'd rather go all-or-nothing for mundane items. (I'm using those, and Hero's Hoard and Relics or War exclusively for magic items right now.)
If a relatively complete set of mundane gear was available, I'd easily buy 6+ packs of each.

Jim Richmond |
I've recently ordered a bunch of item cards which will ship out to me once Dragon's Hoard comes in, and I've been reading up on the cards during the wait.
Here's what I'm realizing ... I'll be needing more of Gear 1 and would definitely buy Gear 2 if offered.
Once my finances calm down a little more I'll be placing another order. These things will be a great addition to my game.

Het Paizo crew,
(I know you guys got your hands full right now with Origins), but any headway on the Game Mastery Item Cards Adventure Gear #2 set?
or maybe even the Crit Fumble deck?
I'm going to Gencon this year and was hoping those products would be out and at your booth by then.
Let us know.... (the good news I hope).
Thanks.

Uh... Gen Con is only a month away. Even if we turned over files for those products a week ago, they wouldn't be out in time for Gen Con. Sorry. :\ On the other hand, there are going to be lots of cool stuff in our booth at Gen Con this year. Please drop by and say hi. And bug Wes. Because bugging Wes is fun. :D

Kyle Baird |

Gar (AKA Jason Bulmahn) is going to be there. In our version of AoW, Gar beheaded Kullen in one chop... ;)
I'm counting on it ;)
So what will be the odds of getting a copy of Expedition to the Ruins of Greyhawk signed by the Chimera? (Jason, James, & Erik)
This begs the next question... Which one is the Goat?

JMkimba |

Just a bump for this tread... don't want this Adventure Gear #2 pack idea getting lost to the winds, or cobwebs at the bottom of the forums.
Adventure Gear deck was by far my favorite in the series (not that the others were slackers by-any-means)… but that first set of Adventure Gear just wet the appetite.
I've tried to get rid of equipment sheets altogether, but there a just too many items (mundane items) still not represented in the item card series.
Here are some of the items I've collected from others on this board that I think would make up a good Adventure Gear #2 deck:
EQUIPMENT (Worn)
Different Types of Clothing: merchant clothing, peasant clothing, etc - different materials for clothing: furs, leather, cloth, silks, etc. (could even dedicate a whole deck to this one)
Furs, Animal pelts

Mundane cloaks
Mundane Armor
Different Helmets (from helm caps to full helms with visors)
