And that's it for me- I've got some last minute packing to do, and I won't be back on the boards or over at Rondak's for another week. I'll see you all then, and sorry to but the brakes on this thing so soon after it got started. But, it's just a week!

I'm back! (as many of you will have noticed by now) I'll be getting the campaign rolling again ASAP, but I need to recoup my thoughts on the thing (I didn't get any work done on vacation at all, for anything, and I can honestly say I'm glad), and I've been playing catch-up this week. This weekend I'll get the thing rolling again, and my workload should be reducing itself somewhat in the immediate future, so posts should come more regularly. At any rate, it's just two months, approximately, until the semester is over, and then I'm 100% free for the summer to move us along at a faster pace.

Sorry for so many delays, and thank you all for bearing with me on this. I know it's been trying for me, and probably for you as well. Hope you're all still interested (I know at least Sexi is!).

All right, Ethras has been accepted to the game at last. Also, to be clear, you're not looking into a cave, but a dense trail under the boughs of the trees, perhaps a game trail, with some indistinquishable tracks.

EDIT- I've posted again over there, so it's moving once more. Again, sorry for the delay!

Grand Lodge

Hooray! Now what are those things moving in the forest?

It's you!

Grand Lodge

Haha! I knew it!!

What they DON'T hear, however, is me tracking you through the trees....

Grand Lodge

According to the newest Rondak-post, there is something that "looks to be an elf" beside me. Of course, that does not necessarily imply that I am aware that you are right next me...

That post was tricky, deciding how much to say about each character. I wanted to go ahead and get you all in there. I know Fatespinner has restricted access at work, so I didn't want to just leave him out of the picture, so I went ahead and just added his description. If you'd like, I can modify it for Ethras to not be so obvious immediately.

Grand Lodge

I don't really think that's necessary. After a chance encounter, he'll just have tagged along with me and Ian for less than a day on our way to the big city - three are better than two when journeying through the wilderness.

Yeah, Ethras probably spotted you initially, trailed you for the better part of a day, and then joined up with you once he had adequately determined that you were not bandits or murderers.

Grand Lodge

Just put up my first post. Here's to hoping that we won't slaughter each other quite yet...

I put one up too.

Yay! The party is together at last! I'll let you all continue with the introductions for a while. Good stuff, so far.

Grand Lodge

Yup. Now we just need Thanis to pipe in, and we'll be chattering like a flock of birds.

Grand Lodge

Hmmm... Has it really been a week since the last Rondak-post, or is it just that my browser is incapable of reading more recent material? Just curious, y'know...

Vattnisse wrote:

If it is then my computer has the same disfunction....

You all seem to have the situation in hand. I'm kind of waiting for you all to leave the thicket, and/or someone else to say something. Haven't heard from The White Toymaker or Arcmagik in a while, although Fatespinner and Thanis have been around on the boards. There's not a lot for me to interject at the moment.

Gah! Sorry, I had to get my ducks in a row and totally spaced on the posts at Rondaks... Posting now...

If by "ducks in a row" you mean "things out of the old house and into the new house" and "internet set up" I'm right there with you. I'm back now.

Grand Lodge

This is great! I'm used to gaming with parties of severely Cha-deficient PC, so this is a very nice change of pace. Also, it makes the conversation feel less..., um, strained. Imagine the conversation between a gang of Cha 6 introverts...

"So."

"Uhm... yeah."

"Wha?"

"Ya' know."

"Oh."

Something like that?

Grand Lodge

U-huh.

The Exchange

I am registered at Rondek's and logged in, but I can't find the campaign. I even followed all your instructions a few posts back. Help! I wanna watch!

FH

Ha! That means the shield is working; it only allows REAL healers into the system. :)

Sorry, I'm not sure what the problem is. I'll try and look and see if I can find a way for you to get to the game, or maybe someone else will if I'm slow (I'm on campus today).

EDIT- Try logging in, then go to Available Worlds, then on the bottom of the screen, select the filter Lurkable Worlds (or something like that), and then Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 3.5. Northwind Sun is a ways down the list.

Found it, I couldn't find it without going to lurkable worlds, AD&D3.5, then to your campaign. It didn't show up under the other stuff.

I got it added to my favs now so I can watch. sorry to interrupt.

FH

Good timing on that post. :)

Since Arkmagic seems to be away from the boards at the moment, Arerath is taking a little nap. A simple Heal check should reveal his malady (passed out from the cold). That's your province, cleric!

Grand Lodge

Done! I added a little flavour text of my own - hope you don't mind. It shouldnt be anything a warm bath and some shots of vodka won't fix... But first we've gotta get to East Haven!

You know what... i can't see any kind of post or anything as a lurker... am i missing something?

I have no idea what's wrong with the lurkers. Arkmagic could probably answer your questions if he were around- he's been on the site the longest.

Well done, Vattnisse! We should be advancing to East Haven soon. :)

Grand Lodge

Good news - I'm getting both cold and hungry...

Ahah I see now... I can only see things posted after I signed up as a lurker.

That strikes me as odd.

Grand Lodge

We're on the move! Or some such thing... Again, Saern, let me know if I put too much "action" into my posts, or if I'm getting ahead of myself.

No, by all means, I appreciate your keeping things moving more. I'll have a big shiny introductory and descriptive post of East Haven sometime tomorrow morning. The dirty dishes beckon to me in the meantime....

Grand Lodge

Nice! I was wondering if you would do a write-up on the party a la what you originally did with the "here are three travellers" post; I liked that one a lot, and I'm kinda curious about how you "see" us three newcomers. Of course, this might just be me...

The DM hears the wishes of his players and agrees! When I write it up in a while, it shall be as you desire! :)

The longest, most massive post yet to the campaign has been added! Welcome to East Haven. Please, feel free to move about the cabin.

Grand Lodge

Very nice. More or less how I imagined it - desolate, yet crawling with transients and n'er-do-wells. Gotta watch our purses here!

As for something completely different, how do you handle magic item creation? It won't be an issue for some time, but I'm trying to decide between going down the Brew Potion/Create Wondrous Item path or whether to stay with the "outdoorsy" concept (Endurance/Track etc.).

I handle magic item creation exactly as it is written in the DMG.

Obviously, it's your character and you should design him as you feel, but from a party synergy viewpoint, we've got a lot of the outdoorsman covered in the ranger, and we have two people capable of making potions of endurance.

Grand Lodge

Good point. I guess the next in line will be Craft Wondrous Item - which also happens to be one of my favourite feats. I love crafting magical items! Not in Everquest, though...

Darn! There goes my plan to switch this game to a play-by-post version of pen-and-paper Everquest midgame! :)

Well, Arcmagik has bowed out of the game. I'll really miss the character concept of Arerath, and thank you for your time in the game, Arcmagik.

That opens up a slot. I believe Tequila Sunrise has precendence in this, so if you're still interested TS, the position is yours. The hole has come at a fortunate spot, early on and where characters are easily interchangeable.

If TS is too busy or otherwise unable to join, Aubrey can call dibs. Afterwards, I think it goes to the first bidder.

Look over the earlier part of this thread to get an idea of the character info and detail I'd like to see. The more, the better, so go nuts and don't be afraid to write novels about your PC!

EDIT- I don't expect anyone will take this option, and that's fine, but I've also got plot ideas centered around the character of Arerath, plots I'm particularly fond of. One could continue playing Arerath himself. If not desireable, any arcanist should be able to have a background developed capable of sustaining these plots with some modifications. If that doesn't happen, I'll scrap them and make something completely new. :)

Grand Lodge

He never quite recovered from that cold walk in the woods... R.I.P., Arerath - it was good knowing you.

You might want to repost this on the play-by-post thread as well.

I'm not thinking of killing him... just having him decide to stay on in East Haven, wander off from the party. I like the concept too much to kill him! :)

I'll look into re-posting this so it gets more attention from those who skip this thread.

I'm in, though it might take a couple days for me to read up. Anywher in particular I should start?

Yay! Well, I suppose the first thing to do would be to head over to Rondaksportal.com and sign up as a lurker for the game to read up on what's happened. At the same time, if you wish, just start thinking about a character concept. The arcanist spot is open, but the party is large enough, and the nature of the game such, that I expect we can get by just fine without one if you aren't motivated to play one.

I'll just throw this out there now for your consideration: there are about five flavors of human in my setting, not just one homogenized race. All the differences are descriptive and cultural, however, not mechanical. If you're so interested, I'll be happy to provide more information. You can e-mail me at williebiel@epowerc.net to discuss this further, so we don't clutter this thread anymore than it already is (I should probably start another one like Grimcleaver did).

Ok, so I'm chronologically a bit behind Hrothgar at this point... my net connect has been obnoxious lately. Anytime I wasn't being writer's blocked, it would say "Sorry, try again later."

It's operating at the moment under threat of percussive maintenance. I'm just glad I didn't ask Ian for directions to the temple of Heironeous or Pholtus!
