So wadja get?

Liberty's Edge

I got a sweater, a Bathroom Reader day calendar, and I bought myself the FC II. My kids got a dolly, a play washing machine, and a Geotrax RC trainset, among other things. The girl is 1.5 y.o., and she was just confused and overwhelmed by it all. My son was too at that age. He just had a hissy fit.
I got my wifey a video game, which is her favorite thing to get. People jack me up for getting her a video game for Valentine's Day, but they don't understand.

My wife got me a Colossal Red Dragon miniature (if you can call it that), clothes and a War of the Dragon Queen booster pack as a stocking stuffer. She got a Johnny Cash Legends CD set, a Spell Compendium, jewelry and cash. My son got enough toys to replace his entire current collection it seems and my teenage daughter got a video camera, clothes and jewelry.

I'm glad the holidays are over, almost......too tired.....Geotrax are cool, Heath, my son got one for his birthday and he got expansion sets for Christmas.

Yeah, it's pretty cool. The train can stop at the windmill and make the windmill turn, cool stuff.

Glad they're almost over too.

I was fortunate enough to receive books on Heironymous Bosch and Peter Bruegel the Elder, Complete Divine, a War of the Dragon Queen booster (Tiamat!!), a scanner/copier/printer for the computer and my sister got me quite possibly the coolest tie ever. It's green and has a squid with an exposed brain silkscreened onto it.

I'm really happy because it seems that everyone liked the gifts I got them this year, which is very satisfying.

I got the second printing of the D&D Basic & Expert boxsets acquire from a thrift store that are all in quite excellent condition. These were identical to what my mother bought for my 9th birthday back in 1982. I also acquired the latest Doctor Who 2005 & 2006 season box sets from the BBC.

Well, our (my) Christmas is on hold, awaiting the arrival of my sister and her boyfriend. (But, my sister sent a "care package" ahead weeks ago, and I started to open it, but saw a note indicating gifts for me for Christmas were enclosed. I resisted my inner child and looked no further.) However, I soon couldn't resist (you see, my sister works for Random House, and nowadays it seems that Random House publishes a lot of the D&D books... so I looked inside the hallowed contents, and was surprised, overjoyed, disappointed, and confused nearly all at once. (Hmm... some heavy warding spells on this box.)
Anyway, the GOOD stuff within that treasure trove, the Dungeon Tiles (and I am a total D&D minis "geek"), and then a packet of the deluxe character sheets. Now, the reason for my disappointment and confusion... (2) copies of PHB v.3.5 (I already have one of course), the deluxe D&D basic boxed game (have it), the Player's Kit; w/ Aberrations booster (didn't want the Player's Kit really, and thanks to eBay I have all the minis from Aberrations), and finally "The Grasp of the Emerald Claw" Eberron module trilogy (again, have it.) In a way I'm glad I looked into the 'care package' (no one knows I did this BTW) because I can try to still appear surprised and appreciative of the gifts. (Not sure I'm going to 'appear' happy with 2 copies of the PHB though.) My thoughts on these 'duplicates' and the other items I already have, is to take 'em to my local bookstore, say they were gifts (a true statement) and buy or order things in exchange.

As for any of my other gifts, no idea at this point, clothes I'm sure, some DVDs (I hope), and other little 'odds 'n' ends.

Peace on Earth (or Oerth, Toril, Eberron, Krynn, or wherever you hail from.)

I got an iPod 'plug into make a stereo thing' but my iPod broke yesterday (so it's useless) and an all over body hair trimmer but I am not really a hairy person... and then I had a nice argument involving work! I now intend to spend the rest of the night having uneasy angry sleep in a big drunken huff because I'm at work tommorow! ARrrGhrh...

My wife loves me . . . I got a laptop, so that I can surf the web anywhere in the house, and as such, I can spend more time in the general vicinity of my wife. Ironically, she also got me NWN 2 and World of Warcraft, so the net result may be LESS free time for her husband, since WOW and NWN 2 have to go on the desk top.

Kids got a ton of Magic: The Gathering Cards, lots of clothes, MP3 players, a bunch of books, and from my step son in college, a Kareoke (sp?) machine complete with the lyrics that display on the screen and all of that jazz (he works part time as a DJ).

And the biggest delayed gift for all of the kids is the Wii that we have promised to them, but failed three times in trying to secure. So they got a nice picture of one to look at.

My kids got the Geotrax stuff too. 2 expansions of tracks (regular and the high rise ones), a Basic set (the one with the windmill and factory), and 2 extra, shiny metallic trains (purplish chrome and green/silver). I love em, they are so easy to put together!

I got Dragon Chess, a pack of minis, the X-men trilogy, a packet of metal item cards, 3 packs of the Paizo item cards, a food dehydrater, a new "messenger bag"(manpurse) which I love cause it is a bit bigger and can carry some emergency gaming gear, gift certificate to Best Buy, and a nice looking battle-axe (has a hawk motiff to it). All-in-all, a good haul. The In-laws wore me down badly last night so I feel like I earned it all.
Kids made out like bandits!
Wife did real good too.

Dude, my son (3.5 y.o.) played with that Geotrax for 3 hours.
He doesn't do ANYTHING for 3 hours.
Then, we went to granma's for dinner and presents, and after 2 hours there, he pitched a fit and wanted to go home and play with his Geotrax. It's a hit, man.
I'm gonna start building a Geotrax city, I guess.
And my daughter's pushing her baby doll around in its little stroller. She looks so bedraggled. She just woke up, and her hair's all tousled, I get flashbacks to the "first three months of a baby" thing.

He's enough to make me question the first level barbarian's whole "rage 1/day" thing.

He rages 1/encounter, and then when he's done, everyone but him is fatigued.

Sounds like some kind of "prestige toddler."

Liberty's Edge

Yah. He looks just like my little clone. I wanted to name him Boba, but my wife insisted on "Minime."

Got the wife some diamond earrings and perfume. Baby stuff for the little one on the way...Looks like we'll be doing a Beatrix Potter: "Peter Rabbit" room. Sounds expensive!

As far as gaming items go, my bro gave me a theory book that i've already read (way to know your twin brother, eh?), but the wife signed me up for another year with Dragon, so all is well.

Merry Christmas

As ever,
ACE

Hmm, I got some jammies and slippers, a couple work shirts; wife knitted me a scarf and a couple stocking caps, I got munchkin 3 clerical errors and munchkin 4 need for steed and some nuts and a couple videos and a new waffle iron with little holes not those stupid Belgian big holes, and a wet/dry vac and several books 3 novels and 3 non fictions, some Jasmine/lemon preppie tea; some bath bubbles fizzy cubes and wierd smelling soaps and some wierd foot brush and some other wierd stuff I want to try like jerky flavored popcorn and whatnot that was in my stocking; oh, and a pullover type sweatshirt sorta thingy.

My kids, 8 months old and 4 years old probably got about 40 presents each from our extended family as they are the only kids among lots of Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents and whatnot; hehe; was teasing my oldest that we would have to throw out all her old toys to make room for all the new ones; boy did I get a dirty look :)

So glad you asked!

I got a thermos, stinky cologne, a shirt that’s a bit too small, a $10 gift card to Hollywood video (can I pay late fees with it?) and the HOLY GRAIL of all presents…

The D&D Animated cartoon on DVD!!! Thank you Dungeon Master!!! I’ve been waiting for this for …. Well, for a long time. I checked out the kids stats and chuckled. WOTC did the best they could, but Hank, Bobby and the rest of the kids are simply in a different realm than the rest of us game in. Merry Christmas!

Liberty's Edge

How so? What're their stats like?
(heh...heh...I oughtta fiendish templatem and make them work fer that one horned varmint). Wouldn't that give them another top tenner for "why I hate my dorky dungeonmaster?"

Grand Lodge

I got a leather jacket and Thomas Friedman's From Beirut to Jerusalem. Then I bought myself FC II; I won't see it until I get back to Oregon in mid-January, but I think it will be worth the wait...

Yeh it will. It's as good as FCI imho.

Before I had either of my two kids, I asked a guy with twins how much kids cost a month. He responded, "how much you got?"

Then my son was born and there's the face of my grandfather, who passed away 2 years prior, on this 1-minute old infant. It blew my mind.

The worst part so far is the first 2-3 months or so, until the kid sleeps through half the night. At least I had a little bit of time in the National Guard to teach me how to function in a constantly sleep deprived state. And I didn't know ANYTHING about changing diapers, or bathing infants, but it's doable.

I'm like seriously cutting back on new toy shipments at the holidays. My kids have so many toy midden heaps throughout my house, they don't need any more.
