I am not sure about the relation of these entities to each other. I see that the Crimson Fleet is a pirate group, the Scarlet Broz are a merchant consortium, but then how are these two related? Is the Crimson Fleet working for the Scarlet Bro. on ocassions besides being independent?
In my FR conversion I will use the Rundeen for the Scarlet Brotherhood, but I am not sure how to fit the Crimson Fleet. Also i thought that the Crimson Fleet was a group of bloody cannibal maniacs, which Harliss Javell doesn't seem to fit. So whats the deal with this? Any help would be appretiated!
Thansk in advance!

It's the tie between the Crimson Fleet and the Scarlet Brotherhood that i am looking for and also how Harliss Javell fits in. In the Bullywug Gambit (at the DC 15 diplomacy check result entry) it says that Harliss finds a safe ride back to the Scarlet HQ in Scuttlecove. Is she supposed to be a Scarlet Brotherhood member working currently with the Crimson Fleet on something? A little editorial advise would be greatly appretiated! :)
(In FR i will use the Rundeen for the Scarlets and leave the Crimson Fleet as it is, not to accidentally interfere with future STAP modules.)

The scarlet brotherhood is no simple merchant organization. It is a racist grouping bent on dominating the world (or something like that). They are all of a human race called Suel or Suloise, and view other humans in general as inferior, fit to be slaves at most. They have a rigid hierarchy, with monks being the leaders. Imagine a cross between asiatic monks for discipline, fascism for purity ideals and old imperialist haughtyness towards lesser races, and you get a picture of them.

The Crimson Fleet is an organization of violent pirates whose leaders are half-fiends. The majority of the Criimson Fleet pirates are merely (really reprehensible) humans or humanoids. They're based in Scuttlecove, and while they have a sizable fleet, the majority of the ships on the seas flying their flags are mercenaries who work for them. Harliss is one of those mercenaries. In fact, the PCs don't actually meet any actual Crimson Fleet pirates until the fifth adventure in the campaign.
The Scarlet Brotherhood is entirely seperate. And MUCH more powerful. They have contact with the Crimson Fleet now and then, but aren't allies. The Scarlet Brotherhood's presence in the Adventure Path is actually fairly minor in the grand scheme of things.

hmm.. half fiends?
Sounds like something to put up as evidence for the grandfather in the brotherhood, once the players start nearing a final lethal strike on the pirates.
Then getting like a hundred level 6 monks for a attack to destroy those misgenisating pirates :D
The suel race must remain pure from fiendish influences.. heheh
