Kyuss

3.5/d20/OGL

I'm looking for information on Kyuss, and I can't seem to find anything about Kyuss himself. Can someone tell me where I might find something? Dieties and Demigods was nil, as was Fiend Folio. Please help...?

The Age of Worms adventure path has info about Kyuss throughout its 12-part run (from Dungeon #124 to #135). Issues #130, #133, #134, and #135 probably have the most info about him.

Dragon ran an "Ecology of the Spawn of Kyuss" in issue #336.

One of them older LG Journals (I think issue #4? #5?) had some info about him too, but most all of that's been updated in the issues I mentioned above.

He likes apples a lot, since you may find WORMS in apples...

He's the kind of guy who, when he says : "Bang, you're dead !", really kills you. However, it's not his sense of humor that "kills you".

He has triads working all over the Flanaess for him ; but those triads are not chinese secret societies.

I guess he went through awful days, since he lost many teeth and most of his hair.

He should send his clothes to another tailor, since they are dusty, torn and dirty.

He has a drag working for him. This could be fun with techno music, fancy and exotic clothes and all the "fiesta", but this one is no dragqueen. Instead, his drag has a more gothic look, listens to organ music and requiems, and has no sense of humor or no mood for "fiestas".

'Hope it helps... ?!

Seriously, the whole adventure path in dungeon 124-135 evolves around Kyuss, his cult, how he ascended godhood, and the adventures are great !!!

Prior to the Age of Worms campaign, there really wasn't much to know about Kyuss. His name first appeared in the first edition Fiend Folio, referenced in the Sons of Kyuss monster entry. Roger E. Moore and Anne Brown picked up on this reference when they put together the Player's Guide to Greyhawk (1998), which mentions Kyuss in a big table of deities as a hero or demi-god of "creation of undead." As James mentioned above, the article "Blood of Heroes" in the Living Greyhawk Journal #3 (2000) included a few more details. The Age of Worms campaign is really the first place where he has been covered in any meaningful way.

You can find some of Kyuss' prehistory (done pre-AoW) on my website at http://melkot.com/mysteries/kyuss.html
Those ideas are where SKR got some of his background info for the Living Greyhawk Journal treatment (which of course was later built-upon).

I thank you all for your help. I was hoping I wouldn't have to buy the other nine issues when all I'm looking for is a single entry on who Kyuss is, however, and a statblock. I sincerely hope it isn't a waste of money. Oh, and I would like to personally complain about someone(s), the writters of the 3rd edition Fiend Folio and Dieties and Demigods. Kyuss should be in atleast one of them, yet is found in neither, therefor I complain.

The whole campaign is great.

However, if you really are looking only for Kyuss'stats, check Dungeon 135 (the end of the campaign).

Hate to threadjack, but...

Maldin, thank you for your articles on the Twin Cataclysms and the info you have on Keoland. This information really helped me with my Keoland/Suel campaign I'm running right now. Kuddos!

Many thanks Daigle! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
One of these days I'll get time to put up more. ;-)

His stat block is in #135. 30 character levels, a divine rank, and an epic template. *shudder*

Thanks. Now I just have to get it. It'll deffinetly help my campaign though, as the evil PCs are followers of Kyuss and he plays a major part in it.
