Manzorian / Tenser's legacy

Age of Worms Adventure Path

Hi all,

A question for the Greyhawk history beef out there (come out, don't be shy):

What other spells (i.e. other than the two in the PHB) has Tenser developped?

I don't think that there are any other spells named after him in any 3.0 or 3.5 product, but what about 2nd edition products?

It would be interesting to revisit these and try to adapt them to 3.5. It would make an interesting and unusual contribution to the spellbook of the group's wizard (adressing the issue raised on another thread).

Well, This may sound like a no-brainer, but there is a greater floating disk spell, which he made. And the only other one I know is Energy Spheres. Both are in the Spell Compendium, though the actual entries have his name removed. (I never learned too much about Greyhawk. Started 3E.)

A dozen or so spells appear in the Greyhawk Adventures hardcover from 1988, so they are 1st Edition. Most of these spells are combat-oriented, especially melee combat.
(There are spells from other Greyhawk mages in there, the whole Circle of Eight at that time is represented with spells which have a fitting theme for the mage in question.

Thanks, this list of spells is brilliant. A pity I don't owe any of the 1st edition books.

Is there one given 1st edition book where they all are or are they pretty much scattered? It would be nice to see what they do and try to replicate that in 3.5 version.

If there is one specific book where a bunch of them are I could buy the pdf drom Paizo. Thanks for any tip about which book to pick!

This is the book I mentioned above.
You will find all spells listed as "additional spells" in the wikipedia entry in there.

I always thought that Tenser, creator of the floating disk spells, would have no need to walk. I plan on introducing him that way to my players: always moving about on a greater floating disk.

Thanks, I had missed this reference in your post! I will buy it tonight. Can't wait to see these Tenser spells.

you can also find all of Tenser's spells, i think in the 4th volume of the 2nd edition's encyclopedia of spells.

Actually, you don't even need to buy anything. The named spells found in the old (2e) GH Adventures hardcover have all been converted to 3.5 and are freely available here:

It's not official but it might as well be given the quality.

You are aware, I trust, that the FD wasn't developped (originally, I mean) to serve as a poor wizard's flying carpet? (not to mention it's impossible given the FD must "follow" the caster at all times)

Think rather about a wizard plundering dungeons and unwilling to leave anything behind and you'll be closer to the truth...
