by the way, military service did not turn me into a survival nut... it just taught me better tactics... no seriously I live in a rural community in Florida(yes they do exist), where we grow citrus, and raise cattle, the few times I could help with my uncles cows my job was to round up straglers, mostly calves that wondered into the brush, so I learned early to be ready for anything...and the fact that said uncle taught me to move through the woods like a Ranger(he did 4 tours in Nam) for when he took me, my dad, and my cousins hunting kind of helps...
game on, and may God keep and love my dear uncle Buddy

Let's see..going through m'pockets, I have my wallet, cell phone, a LOOOOOOONG(little over a foot) collection of key rings linked into one another with keys at both ends, a swiss army knife that has more tools than I can count(although it isn't the $100+ one that is an amalgamation of every swiss army knife in existance and is more than two inches across), and a mini-maglite. I don't own any guns, but I do practice martial arts and have a small collection of swords, long sticks, not so long sticks, shinnai, sai and boken at home.

Yeah, I forgot to mention: 10yrs of martial arts, 2 longswords, 1 mace, 2 flails, 1 warhammer, 3 nunchucka (1 is padded), a set of sais, a set of tonfas, manriki-gusari (ninja battle-chain), quarterstaff, 3-section staff, 1 ninja sword, various throwing stars and knive (real good shot with em too), 1 Tai chi sword, 1 chinese ring sword, 1 halbard, 2 battleaxes, 1 throwing axe, 4 dagger (various shapes and sizes), tiger claws, a sap, 1 round shield, 2 butterfly knives, 1 morningstar, a set of Escrima sticks, a full suit of chainmail (made it myself from links I bought from The Ringlord online) and a decent assortment of pocket/folding knives, and a working replica of a 16th century crossbow. The only guns I own is a single shot bolt action 410 that my father gave me when I first learned to hunt and an over-under .22caliber top 20 gauge bottom breakaway that I loved hunting with (haven't been in years), and a blue-steeled muzzleloader that I built from a kit.
scary huh?FH

Man, and people think Texans are heavily armed!?
As a technical writer for a contracting company, I believe that USB drives count - just for a different kind of emergency. You wouldn't believe how often a client has data on their PC that is vital to me being able to complete a project with file sizes that will not fit on a floppy and they don't have a CD burner.
My laptop satchel has multiple pens (with multiple ink colors), a pencil, a click-eraser, a USB drive, a compact screwdriver with four interchangable heads (2 flat, 2 Phillips), a calculator, a pad of paper, ear-bud headphones, and a CD case full of 10-15 CDs. I carry a Palm Pilot, business cards, and a keychain with an aluminium penguin-shaped fob that acts as a bottle-opener in a pinch.

Damn....Fake Healer--the arsenal of democracy! If the end of world scenarios all come true, his house will be the founding source of arms and equipment for a new order of Knights who will come out to save the world, slay the aliens and repopulate the planet!
After I run out of ammunition, I'm headed for your house!

As a true english gent, I need only my trusty walking cane... ;)
...or an umbrella with a stiletto blade in it....I've seen James Bond movies--I know what you crafty English types can do ;)
Seriously, the English martial tradition is the finest and most long standing in the world. When I went to the Tower of London my jaw just dropped by the incredible collection of weapons and armor housed there.

Koga: The Ninja Trick |

The Koga would like to hang with you. (When you're sporting guns, not blankets and crap lol..)
He has a personal collection of knives and swords, mostly small daggers, but alot of them of oriental designs, infact, his favorite set is his katanna, longsword, and short-sword..
Course he doesn't carry them anywhere, he doesn't need to, The Koga has "the evil-eye" for self defense, you would only believe him if you saw it with your own eyes, but he can just look at people a ceartain way, and they start to get panic attacks, mom has it too, but her evil-eye looks like the people's eyebrow. XD

I don't think I know anyone who doesn't own a gun, often more than one.
In the county I live in it is the law that every household must own a gun.
Interestingly, the crime rate is the lowest in the Atlanta, GA area. Oh, yes, the law has been on the books since the Civil War.
One thing I always carry are condoms. Forget about the keychain knife-thingies..
