Wingclipper's Revenge

Dungeon Magazine General Discussion

While Chris has written an excellent adventure there are two things I want to address. One of them is a bit of errata, and the other is a question for Chris himself (or perhaps someone else in the know).

I was just looking at Agrio "Wingclipper" Starkson's stats when I noticed he was only 7th-level. While this presents no problem for me those that like to play by the rules may want to note that Agrio is not high enough level to have a crocodile as an animal companion (he must be at least 8th-level according to the PHB). Now if this has since been errated I apologize, but if it hasn't its a point of order I thought I'd address. Also the hobgoblin druid's alignment is wrong if he's a druid.

the second thing is I don't have a copy of DRAGON COMPENDIUM 222 (is that the latest one?), so don't have the unseelie/seelie templates. In what DRAGON magazine issue was it in because I have all the 3rd Ed. and 3.5 Ed. DRAGON issues except one? I just hope it's not a 2nd Ed. DRAGON issue.

Dragon 304, I do believe.

Hey Phil. . . how's that "angry druid" manuscript coming along? Thanks for posting about the following issues. I can adress 'em.

Yup, it's technically wrong. Its also wrong that the croc isn't statted out with extra abilities. I really wanted one in the area, and I couldn't think of any other justification to have it lurking around. I just kind of threw it in.

If I were to do it over, I'd just say that Wingclipper doesn't currently have an animal companion, and the croc is continuously charmed by both Bale and Wingclipper at various intervals, via the charm animal spell.

Yup. That was just crazy talk. I'd change it to Neutral. It fits him better anyway.

Thanks Phil. Looking forward to YOUR druid-y goodness at some point in the future. Good luck!

Freaking fantastic adventure by the way. Soooooo well put together as far as plot and NPC reactions. The broken horn is key! So key! It makes the adventure perfect!

I love the bachanalian revels too. Makes for great role-playing encounters!

Great great adventure.

The druid part has been taken out of the adventure altogether because I came up with an alternative that was more Eberron-like. I have the original version (with the druid in it) still on my computer just in case they don't like the changed version (these editors can be fickle sometimes). Anyhow, I just want to agree with Nicholas and say that the adventure is yummy. With unseelie ettercaps, splinterwaifs, dire toads and a maimed satyr in the adventure what more could you want?

Wissel, I figure you will read this thread, so I can ask here. Any hint on what the next installment of Wissel's Greatest might be? Maybe the Way of the Grommit?

Sorry, no internet at home, so I might not read it for a while. But still most curious.

I have to agree the Wingclipper's Revenge is a really great adventure that I've definitely filed away for future use if I have the opportunity. They're only minor parts of the adventure, but I love the grey-skinned Nerull worshipping halflings and if I come up with a home-made campaign setting I definitely would flesh them out and feature them prominently. So even if I don't find an opportunity to run the scenario as written, I've found something interesting to expand on for myself, which is a definite sign of a great adventure. Great job, Chris!

Hey Sean!

It's a secret. . . but it involves Mrs. Waddles the Duck and her disastrous Easter Egg hunt with the baby bunnies.

I'll have to give you a call then. . . I heard you may be moving back to Indianapolis. Well done. :)
