I ran this adventure as a one of on New Years Eve. Told the players (6 of them) to prepare level 5 PC's. I hinted on beefing weapons and armor. They did not expect to have to keep the monsters alive. I picked up some feathers to throw at the table when the cockatrice attacked... what a hoot. The wizard got turned to stone almost right away. Paladin lost her armor (+1 Breastplate) to the rust monster... the look on her face was priceless... we role-played our buts off with the shocker lizards. The PC's had climbed up from the outside saw the lizards (two small one large) and at that point just stepped into the room to grab the potions (thinking they were the stone salve) to help the Wiz. No go. I felt just a little sorry for the guy just sitting on the sofa like that but a failed save is a failed save. By the time we got back to the lizards the only effect left was tongues. The rogue said to herself "Where did the big one go?" Another astonished look when the lizard replies "No more big." Ha Ha I was loving it. After a long struggle (-4 to attack to deal nonlethal damage) with the ravid and all the objects it had under its comand they finally get it into a cage. The bard casts cure light wounds... rest of the party groans as the bards backpack is animated... We had such a good time.
This is my first post.

KevlarKnight,
Thanks for the kind post. I'm glad you all (except maybe the wizard's player - sorry) had fun playing it. Because of the speed at which I had to write and submit it, Menagerie didn't get a proper play test until Origins, when I got to DM it for some of my fellow module makers and developers. We had a lot of fun too though the results were much different as you can tell if you've ever visited this thread.
Glad your first post was a happy post. The Paizo boards are so civil that I rarely if ever go anywhere else (as testified by the shear amount of yacking I do here).

Welcome KK.
I haven't had an opportunity to run GGG's adventure yet. I finally started DMing again last month, and my party's only 2nd level. I DO know exactly where Gwen's Relics will be placed though, and I can't wait for the party to get there!
Those shocker lizards are the best encounter. It reminds me of Gremlins 2: The New Batch, with all the different potion effects, etc. When I run it, Anaki will be talking in a deep, sophisitcated baritone, and maybe sitting calmly on an old tome, ready for either philosophical discourse or a big fat whoopin'.

Yes, absolutely right. The shocker lizards-encounter is great to run!
I also placed a barrel of monkeys in the shop (from an older D&D edition) which made things even more... chaotic! ;)My player's had a lot of fun though!

Um, yeah, about those 'results', I can explain. Well maybe not. But just remember, we all agreed: it wasn't my fault! Or at least not entirely. . .
