It's an age old party question: "If you were reincarnated what would you come back as"? But this is D&D, so: "if you were reincarnated in D&D land, what would you come back as - and why"?
Me? I'd come back as Treant druid (there's a shocker). I love the wilderness but feel pathetic as lone human attempting to survive in the wild. Treants and the D&D portrayal of druidical faith seem to really define the spirit of the wild so what better combo. Plus, I've got Tree Beard for inspiration. Perhaps a lesser known fictional character are the Forestals from Steven Donaldson's Chronicles of Thomas Covenant - Earth Power baby (I'm not really that much of a hippie type if you met me).

HAlfling rouge. I'd sneak around getting as much amusement as possible out of every thing and person I meet. Pissing off nobles and powerful wizards would be my #1 past time and I would be tickled pink living a life of narrow escapes from death.
I would also be very very veeeeeery nice to mister treant druid so that ( in the utterly certain eventuallity that my highjinks would get me whacked) he could reincarnate me into a gnome so I could enjoy the magical side of mischeif for the rest of my continuing life.
P.S. I know that reincarnate is a random chance. But if I didn't throw my entire life to fate, then what kind of halfling would I be?
If I had the opportunity to choose the creature in which I would reincarnate I think it'd be a beholder. Blasting with my 10 small eyes to all those ugly "fake" copies who live just to be eliminated. My central eye would help me a lot against magic users, but would also negate my eye-rays. I'd have a lair full of petrified "statues", victims of my flesh to stone ray.
I would want to be reincarnated as a centaur--I mean you're a horse and you can still scratch your own ass!! How cool is that!!
Treant druid is not on the table, neither beholder.....
I would choose elf, easy to understand why.

If Tolkien is anything to go by then haflings and treants would seem to get along just fine. Besides, those nobles and wizards are city types and need a good raz'in ;-)

This is going to be a shocker to everyone, but I think I'd want to come back as a Silver Dragon. But as a second choice I'd probably pick a halfling rogue. I love those little munchkins too! I can envision myself pick pocketing nobles at banquets and stealing the court mages spell book...ahh one could only wish...
