As the Spellweaver from MMII features in the AoW AP, I looked it up and wondered about the challenge rating for these creatures.
To me a CR of two lower than its sorcerer level, coupled with its special abilities, seems underrated. A human sorcerer has CR equal its level. So something is amiss here, I suspect.
I have not used spellweavers in gameplay to date, has anyone experience how dangerous the creature really is?

While I agree that the spell weaver CR is probably a tad low, keep in mind that these guys have a relatively low Armor Class and criminally-low hit points for a CR 10 creature. One good hit (aka critical hit) with pretty much any weapon and down he goes.
A 12th-level sorcerer's got a higher CR than a spell-weaver mostly because it's expected that a 12th-level sorcerer will have about 20,000 gp more of magical items and equipment.

The AC of 18 is really quite low. A 10th level fighter should have no trouble hitting a spellweaver. The hit points are roughly the same as a 12th level sorcerer without a constitution bonus would have, however.
The example NPC Sorcerer in the DMG with an AC of 17 at level 12, even though he has 44 hp, it is not so far away from the spellweaver stats.
Numbercrunching aside, I just had this gut feeling about the power of the spellweaver.
The stats can be interpreted in a way that seems to support my point of view, thus my question about experience with the creature in gameplay, as I have none.
I think I will give the creatures a CR of 11.

spellweavers also appear in two seperate articles in dragon number 338..ecology of the spellweaver has an intersting rune system/ alaphabet for these guys; and there is an advanced spellweaver that has a CR of 12in that article
the other article is a sort of spellbook that was created/desinged by spellweavers
