Masterwork Weapons Question - ANSWERED

Rules Questions

Okay so I have recently started a new game with some people I've recently met through a friend. For the first time I am not the DM and this DM brought up something that I had not heard of, nor been able to find since the last session we had.

The DM gave out a "Level 3 Masterwork Weapon" I can't exactly remember which weapon but it was a sword or something such. I know there are masterwork weapons and Magic weapons consisting of +1 through +5, but I've never heard of levels of Masterwork weapons.

I am aware a magical weapon is still consisted a masterwork weapon, but based on the DM's phrasing I am assuming she meant something other then a +3 magical weapon.

Has anyone heard of different levels of masterwork weapons? If so can you tell me what is the source so I can read all of the details myself?

My goal here is not to question my DM's judgement but rather to gain more information about an item I had no idea even existed.

Thanks

nope

Grand Lodge

No such thing as a Level 3 Masterwork Weapon by any written rules for the Pathfinder system.

Grand Lodge

Complete houserule.

There are Masterwork weapons, and non-Masterwork weapons.

All magical weapons are Masterwork.

There are no varying degrees of Masterwork.

The is only one level of masterwork quality. The only variance occurs in the kind of item. A MW weapons gains a certain benefit, MW armor gains another, MW tools gains aother, etc. Sounds like a house rule to me. Why didn't you ask the GM what it meant?

Thanks I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing over something before I talked with them. I didn't get the item and I didn't want to seem like I was just bringing it up because of that.

Grand Lodge

Weapons don't even have levels. Magic, Masterwork, or otherwise.

A "Level 3 Masterwork Weapon" is as useless a statement, as a "Level 3 Brown Cloak of Browness".

Ask for a list of the DM's houserules.

My guess, is there is a lot of them.

Living Arcanis before it abandoned D20, had things such as Greater Masterwork weapons which gave a +1 to hit and damage, and maybe another layer onto that. Maybe the DM is an Arcanis veteran

Grand Lodge

That's, still a houserule.

Kingdoms of Kalamar had several varieties and levels of Masterwork weapons and armor, but I don't recall anything referenced that way.

Grand Lodge

Well, houserules, and/or 3rd party.

Either way, ask for all being used.

You need to know.

Knowing, is half the battle.

So I asked and one of the other members said it's from the ultimate equipment book but they still didn't give me a page number. Anyone with the book know if this is true?

Grand Lodge

No.

There is nothing like that in Ultimate Equipment.

If they want to use houserules, at least they could be honest.

I scoured not only Ultimate Equipment, but Ultimate Combat, Ultimate Campaign, Advanced Player's Guide, Advanced Class Guide, and Pathfinder Unleashed.

None contain such a thing, or similar.

They finally responded. They said they don't have a page number, but they were told it from someone in pathfinder society and his words, "They really know their s!++ there."

Yeah I think I'm gonna believe the books and just wait for a DM ruling.

But it gives a bonus to fighting the evil empire! A +3 bonus!

Grand Lodge

There is nothing like this in Pathfinder Society, as there is nothing available in PFS, that does not exist normally in the game.

Who said this?

John Compton?

Just because you play PFS, doesn't make you some kind of authority.

It's not a exclusive group of "master gamers".

I know 10 year olds that play PFS.

If they mean some kind PFS material, it's not in there either.

I scoured the PFS scenarios, and PFS sanctioned modules, there is nothing like this in any of them.

Yeah It kinda funny I checked it this morning looking for a DM's response and the guy whose been saying all this has posted.

"Now that I think about it I've never tried to buy or sell a masterwork weapon over +1. Maybe I got it mixed with magical weapons."

So it's kinda hilarious he argued back and forth for nothing.

DM said she's gonna check her own books and ask her own society source about it just to be sure, but thanks to you guys, I already know what shes gonna fine.
Absolutely Nothing.

Well it will finally be solved and done soon.

Grand Lodge

Just a mistake then.

It happens.

Remember, Masterwork provides only a +1 Enhancement bonus to hit, and not damage.

So, there is no +1 Masterwork, just Masterwork.

Also, outside of the PRD, Archives of Nethys, and d20pfsrd, are great resources.

Make sure there are no hard feelings all around. It sounds like you all are learning.
