The Demonomicon of Iggwilv has quickly become my favorite article in Dragon. I want more! At first I thought the Pazuzu article was a one-time thing, but I was really impressed once again with the details of Fraz' Urb Luu. I'd love to see this article as a more regular fixture in Dragon. How about detailing Soccothbenoth next???

No need to worry there.. more installments of the Demonomicon are on the way.. the next is one of my favorites... but if I tell you who, I will be skinned alive.

I'd like to second the motion. In fact I'd like to request more frequent articles as well. One every four issues in not enough. One every other issue is more to my liking. I know some may protest and there is the risk of over-saturating the topic but hey, I don't really care what other people think!
One other thing occurred to me. The demonomicon series is good enough to warrant it's own compilation...in a hardback...preferably 400+pages...with maps..full color...lavishly illustrated...
I drool just thinking about it. of course it wont happen for another year or two, if ever. Just thought I'd throw it out there.

I, too, would like to see future Demonomicon of Iggwilv installments. However, I'd rather see a few a year that maintain the quality of the first two installments instead of one every issue that is just churned out for sake of having it in the magazine. In other words, keep up the great work you are currently doing.
The Manual of the Planes (page 100) has a list of Demon Lords that you seem to be working from. I'll be happy to see any and all of those. But I would like to refer your attention to page 103 and request that Merrshaulk, god of the Yuan-ti and lord of Smargard, 74th layer of the Abyss, be the subject of a Demonomicon article in the very near future!
Thank you.

For right now we're going to stick with demons. We have other plans for gods, but I must say it'll probably be a while before we get to Meershaulk in any event. Is there anything on him in "Serpent Kingdoms"?
--Erik
Unfortunately, Serpent Kingdoms focused on Set. There was a little information on Merrshaulk, but it was mostly that his portfolio was taken by Set and he was either killed or is in permanent torpor or somesuch. I liked Serpent Kingdoms for what it could give me about the Yuan-ti, but I've had to rework quite a bit of the Realms-specific material to fit my Greyhawk campaign.
I understand that you want to stick to demons. I figured that Merrshaulk walked the fine line between Demon Lord and deity the same as Lolth, demon queen of spiders and drow goddess. Other demon/gods include Yeenoghu, demon prince of gnolls, Juiblex, the Faceless Lord of slimes and oozes, Orcus, demon prince of undead, and Zuggtmoy, demoness lady of fungi. Merrshaulk is lord and ruler of a layer of the Abyss after all, just like Pazuzu and Fraz-Urb'luu.
But I can respect that you have other things planned for "gods." Since I just renewed my Dragon subscription for three more years I can afford to be patient for Merrshaulk and Smargard to appear after "a while."

Yeah it should come out every other month... but i have one question. Do you reserch all the information because it seems like a lot of work!!
Basically James and I are obsessed with D&D's demons, so much of the "research" has been done over the course of years. From there, it's more a matter of knowing where to look to refresh the memory.
I suspect that we'll eventually get around to demons who are "whole cloth" creations and hence do not require lots of research, but that is some way off, as there are still several "known" entities suitable for coverage in the column.

The subject of Demon and Devil lords, while dark, do add a contrasting look to campaigns that seem to often get too lawful goody goody. More in depth storytelling and background on Demons, Devils, and Greater Undead would be a welcome addition. Especially for those which are purely of "role- playing" origins.

Keep up the great work on the Demonomicon articles. One suggestion: Be sure to add a sidebar about how to integrate a demon from a specific setting into the other current settings. For example, if a demon is discussed in a Greyhawk-specific context, then have a sidebar with a few sentences regarding Eberron and Forgotten Realms integration. Thanks.

For Eberron, I think these guys make pretty good rakshasa Rajahs (who are the rakshasa's masters, but not rakshasas themselves, despite the name) with a few tweaks... LE alignment, original names, and a low divine rank about covers it. Oh, and an alignment change and the "native" subtype instead of "chaotic", "evil", and "tanar'ri" for anzus, skurchurs, and whatever other special demon minions are to come.

How about an article on the deposed arch-devils (Zariel,Moloch and Geryon)? I prefer demons, but seeing what the pre-Reckoning lot of Baator was like would be great. You could call it the "Scrolls Fomorian" or something. Either way keep up the brilliant work on the demons, its one of my favourite articles, despite the difficulty of acquiring the right issues over here in Ireland. Looking forward to the next one

Wizard did a piece on Geryon as part of a web enhancement for the Book of Vile Darkness. You can still find it on their site. The enhancement also contained info on Pazuzu (prior to his more in-depth treatment in Dragon), as well as Rhyxali, the Demon Princess of Shadow. All in all it was an excellent web enhancement. If you can't find it on the Wizard website, let me know and I can email it to you. My email is zetazombie@yahoo.com

i know this isn't quite the same thing, but are there any plans for a series on yuggoloth lords? i feel that the yugg's get neglected these days, and are in need of it. it would of course be a shorted series, as i know of only three major lords (Charon, The Oinoloth and The General of Gehenna)
anyway, keep up the good work on the demon lords, they are the highlight of any month in which they come out!

I second that nomination. More yuggoloths. That would be awesome.

I would like to continue with the plea for more of the "Demonomicon." It has simply been great and has given me much inspiration. I'm running Eberron arcs right now, but fully intend to use this material for demonlords in that setting. For that reason, I am not terribly interested in seeing the gods done up as they are less portable to other settings: demons and devils and daemons, however, are easily ported.
That said, I would love to see more demons -- the old stand-bys (i.e. Orcus, Demogorgon), but also brand new ones. To echo previous comments, I would also be interested in the devils and the yugoloths (love them yugoloths). While we are on the subject, why not "Lords" for other populations such as the Slaad (terribly underused race). "Lords" don't need to be be relegated to simply evil creatures (I'm sorry, Evil).
And if you want to throw in the occasional Raja or Daelkyr, you would certainly get my approval. :)
Just in case I haven't stressed it enough -- these are great articles!

I agree that we should get some new information on Merrshaulk. We use him alot in our campaign, but we need stats and history and lots of stuff!! He is an abyssal lord, so he deserves space in the Demonomicon. And if Iggwilv is writing it, she probably has an entry for this very significant power.

Kudos to the Dragon staff.
The latest article on the Demonomican and Iggwilv herself is by far my favorite Dragon article of the year. This whole installment has been a boon for Dragon and I do hope it keeps going for months to come.
I just wish they had given some stats for Iggwilv herself.

Well, just make her a epic-level conjurer, perhaps with some levels of some fitting prestige class. But Iggwilv is IMHO so out of league for most heroes that you just don´t need any stats for her, much less for the various demon lords and such. I won´t judge a game in which the heroes start battling demon lords or gods or something like that, its just too far off to me. The idea from ad&d2 with gods and the like having avatars with stats and the gods themselves being so far above the power level of mortals that they just don´t need any stats is just the way I like it.
