To begin AP...

Shackled City Adventure Path

Hello! I'm about to begin the shackled city AP with my players here in france. But I'd like to know how long it takes to run all the adventures. Some of you have finished it yet? Thanks!

Hi Mathieu !

Another "fromage qui pue" (stinking cheese :) ) on the message boards, that's good news. I feel less lonely now :))

I started DMing a five-character Forgotten Realms-based AP in October 2004. We're playing on a very slow pace : one five-hour session per month. I hope we'll be through "Flood Season" (2nd AP installment) tomorrow night for the ninth session. I've also DMed a small home-made module before "Flood Season". My PCs are close to the 6th level. We're far from the end.

A plus !

My group of 5 PCs made it through Zenith Trajectory last session. We play 4 hours every other monday, and each adventure so far has taken 5-6 sessions to finish.

I estimate that this campanign will probably take us about 2 more years of playing to finish if we continue at the current pace.

My group has played about 25 3.5-hour sessions (give or take) and we are about halfway through AP3 Zenith Trajectory.

Playing a four-to-five hour session once per week, my group has taken over a year to reach "Secrets of the Soul Pillars" after starting in November of 2003; but my group of 14 plays slower, obviously, due to logistics.

We started in januaray... and we are just about to finish soul pillars however my players don't do much Rolyplaying they are more of a smash and kill group. We play 5-6 hours sessinos each week but we have been know to ither go longer (sunday night was an 8 hour session) and we are also known to cancell some weeks... Hope this helps

It does. I understand it's gonna take a loooong time to run the adventure path. I think I'll start as soon as the hardcover is available.

So would you guess that on average each adventure would take around 20 hours of game play to work through? Or is this an under estimation?

We are only half way through Life's Bazaar and it has taken us 4 six hour sessions so far.

My two groups are playing at a snails pace...

Group 1: started 26th june 2004 (a Year ago) plays every two/three weeks. They have now 17 sessions under their belt and we are still in "Life's Bazaar". They entered the Malachite Fortress two weeks ago. Today the search for the missing children continues.

Group 2: started this year in March, plays (nearly) every Wednesday... they took 4 sessions for the journey to Cauldron (including "Thieves In The Forest" as an introductory adventure to bolster the XP's a bit) after 6 sessions they entered the Malachite Fortress in the 7th yesterday.

The speed is so slow as they are exploring the city too. There were great moments about the surrender of Keygan Ghelve to the St.Cuthberts after the heores retrieved Starbrow and a little rift between Rufus (a fanatical zealot) and Jenya (very down to Earth), the first meeting with Skylar Krewis, Lord Vhalantru, the Stormblades, Meerthan Eliothorn and Maavu. They met Sarcem Delasharn on his quest (accompanied by Alex Tercival) on their way to Cauldron, and encountered Shensen Tesseril in the 'Lucky Monkey' on their last stop. They had trouble with the town guards and the Last Laugh. There was a big fight in the jail of the town guard barracks as the Dark Stalker wanted to free his fellow Creepers from capitivity there. Both groups immensely enjoyed the mimic and the automatons (especially the female players).
