Convert I3-5, Deserts of Desolation? Or for that matter, X4-X5 - though the conversion there is even more difficult.

Sandstorm was just released, so I would keep my eye out in current and upcoming Dungeon releases, as they may try to do something to correspond loosely to that release.

Of their recent stuff, Obsidian Eye and the Twisted King (? not sure on the title - it used Meenlocks as the primary villian - around issue #115 or so) both have at least a partial desert setting, though are designed for somewhat lower levels and would probably require some hefty reworking for 9th level characters.

i've got the online adventure that goes with sandstorm and a few other thing they are all lower levels so far but i'm still looking.. thanks for the sugestions i will have to take a look at those... dose anyone else have ideas

Koldoon has some good suggestions that I agree with (I like her style!). Here are a couple others.

Dungeon 89 - "Headless" and "Rage" Both can be placed in a desert environment with craggy hills. Though "Headless" is written as a wintery mountain setting, you'd be surprised how easy it is to covert a blizzard to a sandstorm. The frost giant mohrgs can be converted to fire giant mohrgs and the white dragen simulacra into a blue dragon simulacra.

Dungeon 84 - "Dungeon of the Fire Opal", "Dying of the Light," and "Demonclaw" None are actually set in a desert, but can easily be adapted to one. Simply create a dried up lake with a rocky tower jutting from it for "Demonclaw" and change the town in "Dying of the Light" to a large oasis near a dead volcanic crater. "Dungeon of the Fire Opal" is way easy, but you have to make significant changes to get up to the level you want.

Dungeon 103 - "Glacial Inferno" this one is easy to place in a desert since as written it's already near one.

There are probably a ton of others that you can tweak to fit a desert setting. The above need a little bit of scaling the adventure and the first 2 issues are 3.0 so you have to look for the little rules changes since the game went v.3.5.

You're not going to find a whole lot of desert adventures other than those Koldoon mentioned in recent Dungeon issues, so get used to the thought of doing some converting.

Thanks

i was not saying that those idea were bad an i know i will need to do some converting... i just wanted to see what anyone thought was out there...

Thanks again

Anyone notice that the map from that adventure looks awfully like the Necromancer Academy from Return to the Tomb of Horrors? Recycling at its best ladies and gents....

I heartily endorse The Obsidian Eye by Nicolas Logue and Brandon Victorson from Dungeon 120. Very playable, good desert feel. Plus, if you've got Sandstorm supplement, plenty of opportunities to incorporate things from that into the adventure.

Thanks Troy! I recall seeing a letter in Prison Mail many moons ago from you about how you adapted "Cry Wolf" for the Wheel of Time Setting. I'm glad you dug those two adventures.

Adapting Obsidian Eye for 9th level shouldn't be too hard. Just replace some of the monsters with bigger baddies and give Harbinger and Mio a couple more levels each. Maybe even just make the jackalweres into jackal lords instead to simplify things if you run to it in a pinch.

The sequel called "Lightning Curse" is for higher level characters (14th) and it is not finished anyways, but may be seen in Dungeon sooner or later.

Good luck putting something together lordmolay!

The Wyrm's Hoard (http://www.paladinpgm.com/wyrm/) is an online, seachable collection of adventures. It contains all of the Dungeons from 3.0 on plus a lot of other stuff. Go there and search for "Desert".

Or search there for the level you're interested in and see what you can adapt.

Wasn't there a desert adventure in the Dark Sun issue of Dungeon? I think i remember it, defending a trading post. It would probably need work, converting the bad guys and such. But it could work, but i dunno if it would suit your requirements.

If you want to go old school and you have the Dragon Archive CD, check out "The Ruins of Andril" in Dragon 81. I remember a few interesting traps from that adventure

For a good desert adventure, if you are willing to do the conversion work - Seek out Serpents of the Sands in issue #37. One of my personal favorites back then. The primary antagonists were Yuan Ti and the Spirit Naga which still exist in 3.5. As Yuan Ti have class levels you can adjust it fairly easily to any level above around eighth.
