Charm Person as a Spell-Like Ability

Rules Questions

Question for all the folks out there. Is there a relatively easy way to get charm person as a spell-like ability, or, failing that, to add it to an alchemist's extract list?

The hard lines of the character at present are alchemist, and half elf. Other factors are open to change.

Thanks all!

Easiest way would be to research the spell as a formulae. I would add that it has to at least be splashed onto the target to reflect it being alchemy.
Check out the rules for researching new spells for guidelines on how to get it into your formulae book.

It requires you to multiclass as a rogue, at least 4 levels of it.

Quote:
Major Magic (Sp): A rogue with this talent gains the ability to cast a 1st-level spell from the sorcerer/wizard spell list two times a day as a spell-like ability. The caster level for this ability is equal to the rogue's level. The save DC for this spell is 11 + the rogue's Intelligence modifier. The rogue must have an Intelligence of at least 11 to select this talent. A rogue must have the minor magic rogue talent before choosing this talent.

Charm Person is. among other things, a 1st level Psychic spell.

The feat Psychic Disciple enables you to cast a 1st level Psychic spell twice per day.

That feat has two other feats (Psychic Sensitivity and Psychic Adept) as prerequisites. These feats also have an intelligence requirement that an Alchemist should have no trouble meeting.

My new preference is to take 2 levels of rogue, along with the Extra Rogue Talent feat. I have a feeling this might show up in more than one future character build... particularly if I want True Strike twice a day.

I had forgotten about Extra Rogue Talent. Not a bad idea.

You could also take the racial heritage feat and grow a magical kitsune tail i believe.

Why take 2+ levels?
A single level of bard/shaman/sorcerer/wizard/witch gets you at least a single 1st level spell, and it is a 1st level spell for those classes.
You can do it as a cleric if you have the charm or slavery (sub)domain.

If you are a Samsaran, you can add it (and other spells) to your list.

Gaining it as a spell instead of an SLA or extract caps the caster level, though.

If a samsaran adds it to the spell list, it is not capped.

If you use the Major Magic rogue talent, you are capped at the Rogue level.
