I would be interested to here if anyone has detailed this area. I'm not sure if my players will take the bait I threw them and investigate the village or not. However, I am preparing anyway. Currently I am looking at Ghost brutes and an evloved, swarm form vamp/cleric as some of the local inhabitants.

I've not detailed it but I have been tempting the party's Wee Jas cleric with details of it. A ruined town/village (originally called Liduton) where everyone was killed by the undead that Kazmojen Lidu, a great necromancer and contempory of the mighty earth elementalist Surabar Spellmason, animated from the ancient underground necropolis (whose I wonder, spellweavers or kopru). Given Kazmojen was female she could have been Surabar's lover. Pretty sure her first name isn't Kazmojen, as that's a villain out of AP1 Life's Bazaar, but it's something similar, can't remember of the top of my head and I'm at work (my memory is not what it once was). Defenitely and opportunity for an epic level dungeon. If Surabar could quiet Cauldron's volcano and turn himeself into a mountain then Lidu must have been capable of terrifying necromancy.

Well how about the PCs go and investigate this seemingly Haunted Village and find everything alright. Villagers in the fields, shopping in town, you know doing villagy stuff. For a bit of excitement have them clear out an old lady's spider in the basement problem, (you know like in the Baldur's Gate game)
Then come nightfall the PCs sleeping in the inn awaken to see all the villages gathered around a bonfire. When the PCs investigate the villagers turn to them revealling their ghostly visages! All of them slain years ago but some curse brought on by adventurers and now the village of ghosts wants revenge!
Obvisouly you'll want the PCs to be high level or a village of ghosts will wipe them out but how cool would this scene be?! The players will be scared @#$%^&*%^$! LOL

Craig, where did you get the info on Surabar, and the making of Cauldron? Did I miss that somewhere?

BIG MAC,
DUNGEON #104 The Demonskar Legacy:
Page 49, rumours table, rumour 2 specifically.
Page 57, Campaign Seed covers the Haunted Village. It's Kozomagon, no wonder I had trouble seperating it from Kazmojen :)
Page 59, Talking With The Chisel, covers Surabar's life although it could be interpreted his transformation into a mountain is symbolic of his death. I decided it was literal.
Having thought about this I will continue the camapign after Asylum, using the Necroclastic Doom idea on page 60 DUNGEON #116. The concept will be that the Ritual of Planar Junction, that caused the problems in Foundation of Flame (DUNGEON #111), has destabalised the Soul Pillars and they threaten to erupt (as per the initial idea) but that they have also leaked entropic and cold based nercomantic energies that are breaking down Surabar's wards that prevented the vocano from erupting again.
Thus ensues an epic quest to Liduton and the Necropolis beneath to find Kozomagon (now some kind of powerful undead studying the Spellweavers but this last bit would be dependant on Age of Worms and how it covers the collapse of the Spellweaver Empire as hinted at in Asylum page 61 DUNGEON #116) and stop the Soul Pillars from erupting, and then use Kozomagon's guidance to quest to find Surabar (as a mountain) and convince him to help then stop Cauldron from erupting (Soul Pillars stopped but wards already too far gone so volcanic eruption this time). Making him the mountain under the Keep of Jarl Khurok makes for an interesting castle filled with frost giants, although this might be a bit much given DUNGEON's only epic-level module already had frost giants in it (DUNGEON #93 The Storm Lord's Keep). Perhaps the frost giants are dead, slain by fire giants, who live in the beneath the keep inside Surabar and are totally opposed to the PC's preventing Cauldron from erupting. The Elemental Planes could creep into this one, obviously Fire and Earth. Perhaps I should right it up and send it into DUNGEON :) Perhaps not.
PS I know that these last few paragraphs have nothing to do with BIG MAC's question but I had to share my idea with someone and it can't be my players. One of the reasons I love these Adventure Path forums.

There is another adventure you could download from Wizards.com called Lest Darkness Rise.
It was written for 3.5, and includes maps from the map a week feature. It's meant for 7th level, but you can always adjust that to meet your needs.
It's a neat adventure that was released as a Halloween treat. If I had this adventure earlier on, I would have worked it in as a side quest. It was fun exploring the areas around Cauldron, and running side quests apart from the main story. It gave a broader feel to everything.
