Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

Do the titular seven dooms correspond in any way to the classic seven deadly sins of the Runelords? I tried finding it in the text, but if it’s there, I’m missing it. My players came up with that as a theory, and now I want it to be true!

If they don’t correspond as written, do people have ideas for how each doom might be tied to a different sin? Feel free to weigh in as well, Mr. Jacobs.

Hi everyone! Posting here to try and get some advice on how best to tailor Seven Dooms to my group of players. I always like to tie in people's backstories as much as possible, but I'm finding that a bit harder than usual for some reason.

As a bit of background, we played through Rusthenge prior to Seven Dooms, and have our first session officially getting into Seven Dooms content tonight. I'd already moved Osprey Cove and Iron Harbor to also be on the Lost Coast, and before Meitremar died I had him foreshadow that he was far from the only threat their corner of the world would soon face.

The first PC is a human Life Oracle named Cass. I've just had it revealed to him by his mother that he was actually born to Nualia following her exile from Sandpoint but before she was killed by adventurers, and Cass was then adopted by who he believed to be his real parents. I'm not too worried about getting Cass's player invested in what's to come.

The second PC is a human investigator who goes by E. He's a teenager, and it's been established that his parents, who are fishermen, were helping Meitremar in some capacity after disappearing from Osprey Cove. My current plan is to have them turn out to be thralls of the Midnight Dawn, but I'm unsure how they would have fallen under the cult's control in the first place. I also want to plant some seed that they were seen leaving for Sandpoint or something to especially motivate the party to go there, but I'm not sure what makes sense there.

The third PC is a human magus named PG, and veteran of the Fifth Crusade. This tie-in feels pretty organic, but I want make the Red Bishop's plans to create a new Worldwound come to light far sooner. Is there a way I can do that without giving too much about him away?

The fourth PC, and where I'm struggling the most, is a human wavetouched monk. His backstory is that he washed up on the shore of Osprey Cove as a baby, and I've already planted a lot of seeds to set up that he's a chosen one of Dagon. However, I feel that I've really backed myself into a corner here, because there's very little Dagon-adjacent content in Seven Dooms. Does anyone have any ideas for a faction I could reflavor into being disciples of Dagon? Before Seven Dooms came out, I had planned on changing the Red Bishop to a priest of Dagon instead of Pazuzu, but that doesn't seem especially fitting for him.

To anyone who owns Rusthenge: what is the general style of the adventure? How much of it is social encounters vs. exploration vs. dungeon crawling, etc?

On August 28th, Teeuwynn Woodruff went into cardiac arrest and passed away. She was someone I’d had a lot of positive interactions with in the Survivor fan community over the years, but a few days after she passed I was looking at the credits for the new Harrow Deck and saw that she was credited for the design of the divination system. She’s had a hand in other Pathfinder projects over the years, and I wanted to create a space to honor her memory and all the contributions she’s made to this game that brings so many of us so much joy.

Something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately is how a lot of 1e adventure paths drove forward the story of the setting. Jade Regent, Reign of Winter, and War for the Crown saw rulers of nations overturned. Hell’s Rebels and Ironfang Invasion saw new nations form entirely. Wrath of the Righteous and Tyrant’s Grasp both saw the cleansing and destruction, respectively, of entire areas of the map.

But in 2e, there’s been a notable lack of world-altering events, at least from my perspective. APs like Agents of Edgewatch, Abomination Vaults, Ruby Phoenix, and Blood Lords really just seem to be maintaining the status quo. Sure, they may result in stopping a grand evil plan from taking place, and the perpetrator of it is taken care of, but things in the setting are largely the same before and after the events of the APs happen. The most impactful advancement of the lore to come out of 2e is Night of the Gray Death, and that wasn’t even in a full AP.

I’m not saying this is either a good or a bad thing, but it’s certainly something I’ve noticed, and I was wondering if other people see it too. Furthermore, is this a conscious effort on the part of the developers?

I'm beginning an Age of Ashes campaign in a few months, and I wanted to put together a lore document for my players who aren't as well-versed in their knowledge of Golarion. I obviously want to touch on the history of the town of Breachill itself, but since the AP involves a lot of traveling around, I want the players to have a vague idea of the areas around them, recent history their characters would know, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions for what all should be covered in a lore primer like this?

Note: As part of this, I'll probably be sharing the entire "What People Know" section from the Lost Omens Travel Guide, although I'll only include the Old Cheliax and Shining Kingdoms regional sections.

I’ve just finished running chapter 2 of the first book, and it feels like the adventure path is flying by so quickly. I expect chapter 3 to only take 2 sessions max, and then we’ll be leaving Oppara without the PCs having had a chance to get to know the city barely at all. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions for further missions the PCs can complete in Oppara after rescuing Martella and before moving on?

I'm almost done running my Hell's Rebels campaign, and I noticed when I was reading through Lost Omens: Legends that Sapphire Butterfly is credited as a large part of the resistance movement in Kintargo. However... I can't find any mention of the character in any of the Hell's Rebels books. And it feels a little weird now to retcon in my game world that she was actually a big part of the events. Did I miss something, or was this character just sort of introduced in Legends as a stand-in for the PCs? Right now I'm inclined to replace Sapphire Butterfly with the PCs in my campaign in terms of who started the Firebrands, etc.

Jessica Catalan, if you or any other of the AP's developers are reading this, would it be possible to get a bit of information on Chancellor Kemnebi's personality, motivations, and goals? I'm hoping to start running the AP in a couple months, but one of my PCs has a Blood Lord mentor in their backstory, and I'd like to make Kemnebi that mentor so that he's a known factor from the very start.

I hope this isn't too much to ask! If it is, I'll just give him whatever personality I think feels right, in which case it's probably fine if that conflicts with how he's written later on in the AP since I plan on his BBEG status being a surprise.

Obviously every adventure path can have as much roleplay as the players are willing to take part in, but I've noticed that some APs lend themselves more naturally to rich character interactions. The main factors I think influence this are:

1. A large, diverse cast of NPCs
2. Lots of chances for downtime in the story
3. A lack of massive dungeons that take up a ton of page space

So far, the adventure paths I've found these factors to be most prevalent within are Strength of Thousands and Hell's Rebels. Does anyone have any recommendations for other APs that have the above factors, either in 1e or 2e?

Not sure if a thread has been made about this, but I just wanted to thank Ron for all he’s done for Pathfinder. He announced that Blood Lords is the last adventure path on which he’s the lead developer. The adventure paths have always been the main draw to Pathfinder for me, and he’s been at the forefront of so many great ones. I don’t know what Paizo is doing to keep losing such great talent, but they need to stop.

I’ve been interested in D&D’s Theros setting since it came out, and would love to run an adventure inspired by Greek epics like The Odyssey, but as I’m not very good at writing overarching stories myself, that’s never panned out. So I wanted to ask you fine folks here if there are any Pathfinder Adventure Paths that have a similar feel to a Greek epic, elements that feel similar to Greek mythology, etc!

The majority of my experience with Pathfinder 2e so far has been running Strength of Thousands as a one-on-one game for my fiancé, and we’ve been having a blast. It’s an adventure path that lends itself well to a single PC being the “main character” in lieu of a whole party tackling the story. We’ve been playing with the dual class rules, with an NPC always acting as her “sidekick” and the weak template applied to all enemies to make combats balanced for a party of 2 dual-classed characters. We’ve gotten all the way through book 4, and it’s been working out great! However, we’re now looking ahead to what other APs could function well for this same format.

I’ve been eyeing up both Kingmaker and Hell’s Rebels as potential stories where it seems like they’d still work with a singular “main character”, but I haven’t dug too deep into them. So I wanted to get people’s thoughts on what adventure paths best fit the way we’ve been playing SoT. For background, I’m pretty familiar with every AP that’s come out in 2e so far, and I’m more curious about 1e adventure paths that I could convert to 2e (or in the case of Kingmaker, wait for the official conversion to come out).

Not sure if this has been discussed elsewhere, but given Alkenstar’s location and the volatility of magic there, will players be discouraged from playing casters in this adventure path? I’m not opposed to the idea if so, but I’ve been curious since it was announced, and I also wanted this brand new forum to see some action. What are everyone’s thoughts on an explicitly all-martial campaign if this is the case, or if not now, in the future?

My party just cleared out a portion of level 3, leaving behind Nhakazarin, Rosk, and 10 or so ghouls and cultists. They took a book they were looking for before heading back to town for the night. I think it only makes sense for the remaining cult members to switch up what they’re doing once they find the dead bodies of their fellow ghouls.

Does anyone have any ideas for defenses the ghouls might set up overnight or how they’d change their positioning in the dungeon?
