im in a small group that is always looking for en extra player. currently, we are on hiatus due to the recent "world issues" but doesnt hurt to start reaching out now, for when/if things ever get back to "normal". when we do get back to playing, we meet every other week, on Sundays starting around 11 am and going to around 5 or so.... we are currently playing Pathfinder, a personal campaign (so not any of the published Adventure Paths- though we might crib an encounter from one :) ). the players are varied in ages, gaming experience and such. this group for the most part has been gaming together for a few years, some of us even longer so when we do invite new players, we prefer to have them sit in for a game or two, to see how we all fit together before we worry about anything more permanent. give me a shout here if interested, and we can see where things go from there.
so is there a time limit to these quests?? was doing the Onyx one again this morning. got up to 25 of the 50 bags I needed. then get the failure message and they stop spawning. then my counter goes from 25 to ZERO!! when the timer restarts will I be back to 25 or have to start all over again?? and if there is a timer, anyway to know how much time is left?? really crappy to be completing the quest then all of a sudden it drops out on you. and on an unrelated note(might be better to start a new thread) having a few issues with combat: 1) tab doesn't target closest- always cycles outward until you eventually get to closest- by then, im dead. 2) when attacking a group that contains archers (mostly been killing the bonedancers) after killing all the melee guys, I pull out my bow and try to kill the archers. yet all I ever seem to see is the fly text saying attack interrupted. until I engage in melee, I can never shoot back. 3) if I am out of range while in melee, then how are their melee attacks hitting me??
thanx for the quick response. as for possibly rezing in a different hex, that im not sure about. from the map, I was near the center of the hex and the rez point was very near by to where I was fighting and dying at(most of my dying due to tab not targeting closest enemy, but everything else). as for the document issue, when I asked about it yesterday in game, was told it has been an issue for a few days at least and was a known issue.
was doing this "quest" today and after turning in a few onyx gems, the quest would update, for example saying "turn in onyx gems to wizard 3/10" (numbers and names just for example. so all seemed okay...... I noticed however, is that if I died, this would reset to 0/10. not sure if this is intended or a bug. also, yesterday was doing similar quest with the documents, and they were always bugged to be under tables an unable to click on them to gather them as needed.
current group has recently lost a few players due to RL issues. we are looking to fill out our ranks and are looking for 2 or 3 more players. we are going to be starting the Rise of the Runelords Adventure path in the near future. we play every other sunday, noon-7 pm. prefer mature players that are reliable. if you are interested, but the game day (sunday) does not work, i may be able to talk the group members we currently have to change to saturdays.
saw it opening day- think the movie was awesome. cant wait to see whats next. as for spoilers- did anyone else notice this...... : when Stark and Banner were talking about The Hulk, their faces were being reflected in the "screen" between them. when they showed banners reflection- it was actually The HULK!!
unfortunately, the answer is no. to scribe a spell into your spellbook, you have to do a few things first. 1) be able to read the spell- this can be by using READ MAGIC or by having the owmner of the spell book teach you his notation for the spells. once you are able to understand the spells, you are able to do this from then on without having to use read magic or have the help of the spell books owner. 2) once you are able to read the spells, you must then MEMORIZE the spells. this is where a wizard has the issue of others spell books, as spells of higher level cannot be memorized.
after 3rd edition came out, i had converted Return to the Keep on the Borderlands and The Caves of Chaos. the group consisted of a human rogue, dwarven fighter, elven mage and a human samurai(using the Rokugan samurai). all were still first level. they were scouting the area heading into the cave complex (for those that have never played this module, its basically a closed-end valley with various cave entrances at various heights along the slopes). they found some tracks of some small creature heading into one of the lower level caves. as only the dwarf was able to see in the dark, the rogue decided that it would be best to light up a torch so that they could all see. as they entered the complex, the rogue was checking for traps and found a 10' deep pit right near the entrance. after searching for about 2 hours, they found some wooden planks outside the complex at an old unused campsite, they were able to cross the pit- for whatever reason they decided to not try jumping over it or climbing down and crossing over to the other side. then i sprung the real "trap"...... first the mage crossed, then the cleric, then the rogue, leaving the samurai for last. as the samurai was halfway across the planks, kobolds started using commando tactics on the party- poking them with short spears from small holes in the wall, launching crossbow bolts from down the hallway, etc. the party rushed up the slightly sloped hallway into the room where they saw the majority of the attacks coming from. as they rushed up the hallway, the kobolds pushed a rather large "boulder" down the hallway towards the onrushing party, all Indiana Jones like. they see this boulder rolling towards them and relize they will be squished it if hits them, so they turn and run back towards the entrance- forgeting about the pit. the samurai fails his jump check, the other 3 make their checks (mostly due to having the bonus for running- the samurai was at the edge of the pit so couldnt get the bonus). as they get to the other side of the pit, they dont look back at their friend who has now fallen into the pit, thinking more about the huge rock tha i chasing them away. they continue to run out the door into the valley. at about this time they hear the screams of their samurai friend they left in the pit. after a minute or so they can stil lhear him screaming so they get the nerve up to go chack on him and see if he can be saved. as they reach the pit, they see the samurai covered by hundreds of BEES, his face and other exposed skin areas covered in hundreds of stings. they dropped a rope down to him, which he scrambled up quite quckly and they all ran outside into the valley and jumped into the stream that flowed nearby to get the bees off them. what had actually happened was 4 kobolds had used their tiny holes built into the walls with multiple holes to attack the party and make it look like there were 20 or more of them attacking not just 4. then they pushed a paper mache ball filled with bees down the corridor. to this day, just mentioning kobolds causes chills to run down those players spines and a smile to cross their faces.
they sell burgers and fries and such fare. they even allow you to name the burger if you come up with something weird/cool/etc as a combination for it :) i have a pretty open schedule- currently unemployed but going to school- so i have an open schedule from thursday evenings-sunday evening. and i waaaaayyy prefer gaming in a "real" group. valegrim- i noticed on your bio that you say you work Quality for a "wafer manufacturing company". are we talking semiconductor manufacturing or the actual wafer manaufacturer. i was in the previous industry for 11 years- was laid off in 07. main reason i am now in school- need the paper to backup the hands-on knowledge i already have.
i have thought about PbP- but to me that kinda defeats one of the reasons i like gaming- face to face contact with other gamers. can never beat the comraderie that is often enjoyed in a real group. some of my oldest friends are due to gaming groups put together many, many years ago..... and as for the current whereabouts of AI: yes, it is on the back side of the building (NW corner of the backside of the building). they have a small sign outside the door- walk inside those doors, follow the hallway to left, second "doorway" on the left side. it is a pretty large sized building compared to what they have on Juan Tabo/Montogmery (which is still there- just used for CCGs and such now. the RPG and mini stuff has moved to the new location). the retail space is about the same size but they now have a kitchen (with custom menu) and THREE large halls for gaming.
im not positive, but i think the OP might have been talking about making the align weapon enchanment an add-on during crafting (or upgrading the item after it has been crafted) so that any items placed inside would have the align weapon enchantment upon them when drawn from the quiver. im not sure if it is possible using magic item RAW, but as with most anything else of this nature, its up to the DM to say yea or ney on things of this nature. if I were the Dm, i would have no problem with doing this, would just need to sit down and figure what it would cost and what was needed for the manufacture of said item.
just a quick bump........ as to the questions posted: i have not tried the Inquisitive nor AI. but with AI moving to damned near across the street from me in the near future, i might check them out a bit more often :) and yes i have my own transportation- can host the gathering if needed as well. doesnt have to be Pathfinder (though i would prefer it). 3.5 would be just fine- no 4.0 please :). or maybe some other game system as well. right now, would be great to play pretty much anything.........
looking for a group in the Albuquerque area- prefer pathfinder/3.5, but will play pretty much anything right now (except 4th edition). fridays, saturdays and sundays all work great for me- available pretty much anytime on these days.... have no issues joining a current group (if you have a spot and a need for a player) or even getting a new group together- either works for me.
one needs to realize though, that +1 to a skill will still be of use from level 1 thru 20. after about 3rd level, that extra 900 gp wont really be as worth as much and by level 20, do you even remember that long ago when you had more cash to start the campaign with??? but yeah, the fact that most the time, the skill chosen as always a class skill probably wont have much effect, as it is most likely going to be a class skill anyways. but as traits are supposed to be more like half a feat, im not sure what i would do with this situation to make it worth it. but if looked at a bit closer, its just a little less powerful than skill focus. skill focus would gain you a +3 with a specific skill (+6 if you have 10 ranks in said skill), while the trait only gives a +1. thats a bit less than the power of a trait being half a feat. but as the trait also makes the skill a class skill, which also adds a +3. so to start with, it might even be a bit more powerful, but will slowly even as levels are gained.
other than house rules, all spellcasters have an innate laser range finder :) with all the changes made to combat in the PFRPG to speed it up by reducing die rolls, why add in a new roll to determine distances and such. yeah, it lacks in believability, but this is not a simulator, its a game. some corners need to be cut to keep it that way. but if anything, maybe make a perception check of some sort but use Spellcraft instead of the Perception skill. but again, this will still strain credibility for the long range spells. the mage cant even see that far but they have pin-point targeting.

adamantine is one source
unless the source specifically states it stacks, the general rule applies.
Turin the Mad wrote: Now there is a call to further increase it, along with what can be gained from adamantine armor (2/- for medium)? Who is the best tank now eh? Say you have DR 8/- and adamantine medium armor improving that to DR 10/-. The fighter can get close only at 19th level with heavy adamantine armor at a DR 8/- (and your DR cannot be targeted, while his can). unless i missed a rules change, DR does not stack when its gained from separate sources. so the barbarian DR or the fighters DR would not stack withthe DR gained by wearing adamantine armor
while i understand wanting to make it different for every religion based on their domains, i would prefer making clerics different based on their domains done another way, personally. what i would prefer is not the cure/inflict ability to be changed, but the Channel Energy ability be modified. why does a cleric of Nethys have a positive energy burst?? what do they really care about healing or destroying undead?? what of they instead had some sort of Dispel Magic burst. base the Channel energy burst on something more thematic based on the Deity worshipped (or the domains chosen for those non-deity clerics). maybe take their 1st level domain ability and base their Channel Energy upon this???
quick question on CMB- more specifically, bullrush- that occured in my groups last game. had a few characters stuck in the middle of a large swarm of centipedes. our monk decided to try and bullrush us out of the swarm. looking through the rules, it seems that he still has to make his check against our full CMB, even though we wouldnt be opposing his attempt. it was even harder to decide what the rules wwould be for my dwarf character- can he "shut off" his stability??? so is CMB passive or active?? can a person automatically lower their defensive CMB to allow these types of maneauvers to automatically suceed???
Salama, i love your character sheet. but i have one issue...... my character is multiclassed cleric/wizard and i dont have enough room for all the spells (and there is more info on the sheet than i need). i tried editing the sheet, but due to my ignorance of how to use Adobe Acrobat, i cant get it to work the way i would like. any chance of me sending you a jpeg of what i need the sheet to look like to you and you make it work????
personally, i think this should be taken a step further. the type of channeling should be determined by the deity worshipped. by this i mean, not every god should allow their clerics to affect undead or use positive/negative channeling. some gods, such as gods of magic or community for example, probably have little care for positive or hegative energy channeling. so why not come up with different types of channel energy- maybe the god of magic allows his clerics the use of a dispel magic affect. maybe the god of community allows his clerics the use of a calm emotions effect, and such. as above, i could see the gods of elemental forces giving their clerics a energy burst effect. as it cant heal anyone, they get a partial benefit that they can use selective channeling to exclude others (without having to take the feat or they get it for free). some channeling abilities would have more combat uses while others would be more non-combat; not everything has to be useful in combat. my 2 coppers......
born and bred Michigan dirtfarmer. lived in the following cities: Union Pier, Three Oaks, Galien, Buchanan, Edwardsburg, Niles. currently live in Albuqueque, NM (for last 12 years). only moved due to no job opportunities back home. scary, but i MISS the snow and winters from back home more than anything. you can keep the summers tho- it may be a dry heat here, but it actually makes a difference :)
hey all- i too am looking for a group to join. would prefer to play 3.5 D&D (PFRPG would be awesome too), but willing to play about anything right now to just get back into a gaming group- im jones'n man!!!!! if anyone knows of any groups looking for a player in the Albuquerque area- have em send me a line obi_wan_shinobiathotmaildotcom
awp832 wrote: Under 3.5 rules, grapplers were denied dex to AC, allowing a short sword or dagger weilding rogue to grapple and stab for sneak attack damage. a bit incorrect. while grappling, the grapplers lose their Dex bonus to AC ONLY to those NOT in the grapple. so a rogue (or any other classs, for that matter) would not gain the bonus for their target being grappled. but if he grapples someone and his 6 rogue buddies all surround the two, they all gain sneak attack damage against the person being grappled (or against the rogue doing the grappling- if they want to).
(not sure ifn this is the correct forum for this- so if not, mods please move) i looked around the message boards and couldnt find anything relating to this question. so....... once the Pathfinder RPG is released (or maybe even just before) are there any plans to have conversion pdf's for the first 3 adventure paths- Savage Tide, Age of Worms and Shackled City?? or is this something the community will need to do?? and yes, i realize there will be issues as those adventure paths were set in "Greyhawk" (although loosely enough to not really matter) and WOTC still owns the rights to Greyhawk. but was just wondering if there any plans for such in the future??? |
