Captain Vaustin...

@Tyrithe Ah, an elven archer! We are glad to have another skilled bow-arm here. You can't believe the monsterous beings we've encountered over the past 24 hours. Hold on a second... Captain Vaustin fetches white feathered arrow from a sachel bag which he had stashed under a pew. Here, take this. I expect you will be able to use it better than I. I found it on the corpse of a strange humanoid nighmare monster that tried to attack us last night!

1x sleep arrow

The nightmare is back! Winter, Winter!! Adria and some other patients are out here but the NIGHTMARE is back!

The men in the bushes begin shooting arrows aimlessly into the mist, toward the gathering shapes, as they move and cause the yellow fog to swirl and billow...

Guy in the bushes: Adria? Is that you? Go back! It's not safe to cross the courtyard just now...go back!

Sandin knows that the sigil is...

Spoiler:
a name. It's verb tense suggests it basically means Come Miglargu in Abyssal script. Horrifying, no?

Snow falls. The temperature drops. DC15 Survival check (unless you have other means of resisting the colds effects, which will of course be honored.)

readaloud:
You travel east through the lunar jungle landscape. Eventually You come to a great tor of black stone,
which towers into the sky above. As it rises toward the stars, the stone darkens and gains a glassy sheen, ending in a tall, thin tower high above-a shimmering spire of porphyry and obsidian. The stars are mirrored in the glassy sides of the spire, as though in supplication to the heavens.

some features that draw your attention:
1. A winding stair climbs the stone tower, spiraling around it, leading to the wide double doors into the imposing structure, about half way up.

2. In a clearing before the steps, a natural stone pillar of speckled bloodstone rises. From the pillar hangs a pair of manacles encrusted in glowing runes. A single sigil has been etched into the stone above the restraints, and emanates a low thrumming sound when approached. Perhapse someone with knowledge of the planes or linguistics could tell you more.

The moonbeast grunts and garbles on lunar plants, unaware of Gabi.

A light snow begins to fall.

I mean, what else happens in a pathfinder game on halloween, haha!?

    MAP UPDATED. Position yourselves!

Gabi sees the creature but it does not see her: a hulking white monsterous half ape / half elephant with short tentacles all over it's face. It appears to be eating moon-vines. They snap their teeth at the monsters and squeal as he pulls on them, making the rope sound as they recoil and try to get away. But you can't go far when ya got roots.

    Monster: chomp chomp chomp.

    MAP UPDATED.

Elros I moved you so you can see down the trail. There is a big tree between you and the sound. I drew a line for your line of sight. The creature is only making passive perception checks.

You can all hear the rope sound now. Along with some strange grunting and the sound of heavy stomping feet.

    Elros wrote:
He looked up to the sky to see if the stars were different.

1/3 of the dome of the sky is dominated by the shining blue and green planet Golarion. A sight so awe inspiring that it might give one vertigo...

    Gabi wrote:
    what's the temperature like here?

It is the lunar twilight, heading in to the next 30 days of night. Temperature about 55 degrees F and falling. Snow will certainly fall as you rotate away from the Sun. In the dark parts of the sky away from Golarion you begin to make out the spiral arms of the nearest galaxy. This will provide good lighting during the lunar night, though it does seem strange to be operating by "galaxy-light".

Elros Perception: They sound like some kind of rope stretching and coiling.

A trail leads away from the portal to the east...

Around a bend up ahead you hear a creaking and rustling sound.

Read Aloud: The scent of rot is suffocating in this lush, discolored jungle, and the sounds that permeate the air have a hollow, wet tone. Majestic trees rise from the twisted ground like strange arms, their almost fleshy trunks covered in sinister vining nettles and flowers unlike anything on Golarion.

    Map Updated.

Sandin knowledge: examining the portal you know that this type of jaunt through space ill give you a 60% chance of being stunned for 1 round upon reaching the other side. Yet who could resist a trip to the moon - a place even more mysterious and uncharted than the shadow plane?

    so that leaves us here...

    Round 2

  • Gabrielle - leaps to top of portal. Slashes poor Katyana for 15

  • gabi wrote:
Hmm... doesn't energy drain require a touch attack, after which the target just gains negative levels with Fort saves later to clear them?

Yes, this right. I got lazy and didn't look up the rule. You can't trust your memory in Pathfinder! Gotta look up everything. Since i didn't make the roll, just assume Nadezdha's ray missed Gabi.

  • map updated.

The sisters smile at one another. And begin to move toward you un-threateningly. Indeed, it would seem they only intend to take some of you in their warm embraces...

    bluff 1d20 + 32 ⇒ (19) + 32 = 51

    What do you do?

Gabrielle thanks for the reminders about your passives, it helps:)

    All your knowledge rolls:

    Knowledge planes 40-44:
you know that Succubi very rarely travel with other succubi. They do not like to "share", haha!

    knowledge planes 45-50:
you know that Succubi very rarely travel with other succubi. They do not like to "share", haha! But these three must be very powerful and nasty indeed. In fact, you have herd tales of three Succubi who, as the stories say "guard the gate" to the abyss. But you can't remember their names. If only you could roll a 50 or higher!

    knowledge planes 50 or higher:

In fact, you have herd tales of three Succubi who, as the stories say "guard the gate" to the abyss. But you can't remember their names. If only you could roll a 50 or higher. Oh wait, you did! Which means you know that these are the infamous Sisters of Vigilance, most seductive of evil consorts...have fun!

Have fun rping those "knows" haha

Map updated. Griff I moved you forward. Still not in combat, so you are welcome to take actions if you wanna be somewherz else

As Griff peeks into the structure he sees a grisly site: the bodies of all the expedition are strewn about dismembered. But not in a vicious way. They appear to have been surgically amputated apart. And strangest of all, the faces of the corpses heads are smiling or poised in looks of ecstasy. Sitting on three of the stone thrones that surround a glowing blue portal are three bat-winged beings. Beautiful women. They sip blood drained from the limbs of the fallen into silver chalices, and sip it with delight...

Your perception checks: both Elros and Nobb hear a soft "slurping" sound from up in the structure, then a soft voice sighs ahhhh as though someone might say when sipping an excellent glass of wine.

Elros detects 3 evil auras, of moderate intensity.

Valera's secret augury roll (caster lvl 16, right?):
    1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30
The words woe whispers in the wind.

Vidar is able to detect all tracks of the Aspis expeditionaries. And also the tracks of two, possibly three barefooted humanoids. Female by the look of them. Looks like the expeditionaries followed the barefooted females into the structure.

You reach the dig site the following morning. The sky is overcast, but at least the rain has stopped. You approach from the south.
MAP UPDATED (scroll down to see yourselves. Pay no attention to the monster pogs in the white space, haha!)

Before you is an ancient Azlanti structure. But there is no one in sight. It's very quiet. From within comes a soft bluish glow, but you can't see anything else.

    What do you do?

    Everybody Ready?

When asked to give some details Nixie sits down at the table, pulls out a slim cigarette and looks around nervously.

    Sandin:
I should have said "normal" teleport magic. To use a teleport-like spell to get to Somal you would need to use Interplanetary Teleport. You certainly CAN get there via Planes Shift OR two Gates, but the plane you would have to go through is the Abyss. Which Sandin knows due to his knowledge check.

Knute knows everything from Sandin's knowledge check above.

A young women enters the Tavern dressed in Varisian red velvet. Her eyes light up as she recognizes each of you from some low level adventures years ago...

    Map updated

    Sandin's Knowledge checks...

    Spoiler:
    Knowledge Nature: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (14) + 18 = 32
You know that the moon is tidally locked with Golarion, making it's days and nights each about a month long. It will surely be a steamy place by day and a chiller by night.

    Knowledge Geography: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (20) + 18 = 38
You know one cannot travel there with teleportation magic, which does not work between planets. So you assume the moon is uncharted.

    Knowledge Planes: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (7) + 29 = 36
You know the zarkonian azimuth lines of the Abyss intersect the moon, but no one knows why.
    yes, just made those up:)

Sandin's knowledge geography check: you know you are at the edge of the Mindspin Mountains in the wilderness nation of Nirmathas. Avelonia is a junction town between Skelt and a dormant volcanoe which you know is called "the Growling Skald".

You look up at the clock above the fireplace. 10:45pm. Plenty of time for another drink.

Get to know eachother and team up!

As some of the most powerful adventurers in the inner sea region, each of you is highly sought by organizations of all types, for tasks both good and ill.

And normally you would have scoffed at a request for services from the Aspis Consortium! But this official Aspis letter was signed by the young assistant of an old friend of yours, Professor Von Lunershine. The girl's name, you vaguely recall, is Charlotte "Nixie" Blackwell. In the flickering firelight of the Tavern you read this letter again now...
