Doesn't the inability to use handle animal while raging kind of nix this archetype's viability?

was the worst idea ever.....

Try it! take your friends and first figure out who has the highest score in each ability.

when you get to int and wis the big brawl will start.

As I recall everyone said they were the smartest except "beaker" who only played fighters anyway! He knew he was last! ;)

We found a way to make it work pretty well.

Instead of ranking a person's attributes individually based on merit, you rank them in order against that same person's other attributes from 1-6. For example:

Me

Strength: 3 (Third best)
Dex: 4 (Fourth best)
Con: 5 (Fifth best)
Wis: 6 (Worst)
Int: 2 (Second best)
Chr: 1 (my best)

One player at a time, everyone orders that player's attributes in secret on slips of paper. When finished you just count up all the votes and assign an arbitrary spread of scores to the attributes in the order the votes direct. Our arbitrary spread of scores was: 18,16,14,12,10,8 So, in my case, my scores ended up as...

Strength: 14
Dex: 12
Con: 10
Wis: 8
Int: 16
Chr: 18

It's a pretty drama free way to get a fairly accurate representation of what each player's strengths and weaknesses would be in a fantasy world.

Since the Tactician gets 4 skill points per level and the Lore Master gets "an additional 2", does that mean that if you use both archetypes you get 6 skill points per level?

Brambleman wrote:
Lore warden gets +2 skill points for Int based skills, so even w/ tacticion

That's a great idea. Wouldn't choosing both archetypes be even better than either alone?

Thanks to Bob, the GMs, and all who participated for making it an awesome weekend of PFS at Winter War. :)

I can't speak for anyone else, but I found some of the modules to be duds (either in terms of encounters or in terms of plot). Assuming there are plenty of non-dud modules out there, why would I treat my players to a sub-par gaming experience?

*Shrug* Guess we figure we can't really judge a module till we've played it. The gamers I know have WIDELY varying tastes in modules and one mans trash is another mans treasure. Add in taking multiple stranger's words for it and things get even more muddy as to what to play and what to skip.

As a relative newbie, I don't have much I can add to this other than a newbie's perspective. The folks I play with have always worked under the assumption that, other than brand new players at 1st level, if you don't have a character of the appropriate level... you can't play that scenario. We didn't even know there were pregens for scenarios over 1st level.

You can't miss what you never knew. lol

This has been a fascinating read due to the variety in though process. :)

We played PFS for the first time early last year at a con. When we came home we started up our own regularly scheduled PFS game for local gamers.

When deciding in what order we should run the scenarios I never even thought twice. The answer seemed so obvious that I never even thought to ask the question...

We started with 1, continued on to 2, moved on to 3... continue patern until all scenarios have been played.

Obviously we skip retired modules, and If we come to a point where we need to run something lower tier, we set the adventure aside and play it as soon as we are of the proper level.... Why would anyone not want to experience all the modules in the intended order?

Are there any PFS Admins who can shed some light on this situation?

I would have gladly bought the year of the ruby phoenix shirt instead of the goblin shirt. I like both of them. :\

As a human, could you use the "Adopted" trait from the APG to obtain the halfling racial trait "halfling jinx" from Halflings of Golarion book?

Given that you're now allowed to wear any faction t-shirt to gain the re-roll, not necessarily the t-shirt of the faction of your current character being played at the table, might it be a good idea to expand the t-shirt re-roll to include any official Paizo/Pathfinder t-shirt, including purple golem logo (clearly promoting the company), grey maidens (a little obscure, but a fun fashion t-shirt in golarion spirit), and the goblin t's (which now sold out, must have been a hit!) Re-rolls might help to sell any Paizo t-shirt.

I've occasionally wanted to wear my goblin t-shirt to a game instead of a faction t-shirt, but haven't, solely on the basis of the re-roll. (I know I can just carry it in my bag, sometimes I do, but that's not really the point).

I ran into this issue at Paizocon. I had forgotten my faction shirt at home, in the rush to pack. Arrived at Paizocon, went to the store Saturday Afternoon to pick up a shirt, and they were all out of my size shirt, except for the Paizo blue gollum.

So I was DENIED the opportunity of my reroll at Paizocon.

:(

Whoa whoa whoa! Are you serious? My girlfriend and I went to the Paizo booth at Gencon to buy reroll shirts. When picking which shirt we wanted we asked the guy Identified as the "customer service manager" which shirts allowed rerolls and he said any of the official Paizo shirts. I asked if he was sure the goblin shirt was included and he said absolutely. I can't remember his name, but he was very memorable. He had a big curly old timey mustache.

Please don't tell me we spent like $50 on 2 goblin shirts and the guy was full of it? I like the shirts, but a shirt wasn't all I was purchasing.

Excellent!

There's a contact poison in the rival guide that, though a little pricey, should work nicely. Thanks Enevhar! :)

Hey,Raymond Lambert.

I'm still holding on to that Eastern weapon boon for you. If you click on my name and read my profile I have included an email address where you can contact me.

:)

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

Hmm... well that's no good for me. I was hoping Mark had updated the list.

This is the thread I was referencing:

http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/paizoPublishing/pathfinder/pathfinderS ociety/general/ninjasAndPoison&page=1&source=search#0

Hopefully the powers that be will see this and rectify the situation.

Thanks again for the answers. :)

I hate to do it but... BUMP. :\

I used my Eastern weapons boon on the Poisoned sand tube for my ninja before I realized there were no contact/inhaled poisons available and I'd hate to think I wasted the boon.

Thanks in advance for any info. :)

Back in January Mark said he was going to add access to an inhaled/contact poison for use with ninja bombs. With the addition of the poisoned sand tube we have yet another need for such an item. Is this still on the to do list or is it done and I can't find it?

Also, the onnly place I can find any info referencing ninja's poison access is in a messageboard post by Mark. I can't find anything in the guide to organized play, additional resources, or faq.

Thanks in advance. :)

I'm still looking to trade an Eastern Weapon boon cert for a Tengu...

Raymond Lambert, I'm looking at you. :)

Herolab keeps trying to tell me that my new rogue is proficient in Wakizashi. Error on Herolab's part or did I miss something buried in UC?

Raymond, I would gladly trade my Eastern Weapon Cert for your Tengu. Interested?

I agree with Jason S. It's not about whether you were right or wrong; Of course you were technically correct. It's about whether being right concerning something so small was worth the cost of slowing the game and ruining the player's fun. Personally... I can't see how it would be.

Character wise I'm thinking either Monk or inquisitor. I've always been a fan of Tengu and don't care much for tieflings. I know a lot of people love Tieflings though and figured someone might want to trade.

Hmmmm... I hope I wasn't in the wrong for posting this in the first place. I figured swapping sheets would be ok. I wouldn't try selling then or anything.

I posted a legit thread, you posted a legit question, I politely answered your question, and you proceeded to dump all over my thread... So yes I got annoyed. Sorry to have engaged with you.

You both know that these were rhetorical points.

They were prizes given away and not everyone received them. One participant won free airfare and hotel for Gencon 2012. I don't feel as if I'm owed that just because he won it.

What about the people who can't afford Pathfinder books... Why don't they get to play PFS?

What about the blind or illiterate... Why doesn't Paizo put out the core books on audiobook so they can participate?

What about people without computers or Internet access... How do they complain on these forums?

Lol. No. The sheets allow them as a playable character.

I received a Tiefling chronicle sheet at Gencon, but would like to trade it for a Tengu chronicle sheet. Is anyone interested in swapping? PM me.

I just wasn't sure if it applied to enhancements other than simple pluses. Thanks. :)

The guide to organized play says you can upgrade a +1 weapon to +2 "and so on". Does this include upgrade other than simple +1, +2... ?

For example: if I purchase a +1 greataxe and later in my adventures I get access to a +2 flaming greataxe, can I just pay the difference to upgrade my axe or do I have to sell my +1 for 50% and purchase the +2 flaming at full price?

f they follow the same logic as they did with Humans and bonus skill + Favored Class Skill then the minume is 3.

-1,000,000,000,000 Cha + 3 = 3

And that's a pretty big difference. It would be nice to get an official answer. :\

Clerics can channel energy 3x per day + Charisma Modifier. Can a Cleric with a 5 Charisma (-3) never channel energy at all or is 1x per day the minimum?

I thought the Halflings of Golarion trait "Helpful" was legal for PFS, but Herolab says it's not. Can anyone confirm either way? Thanks. :)

I think there is definitely confusion centering around how people are defining "away".

Another reason I assumed that lateral and diagonal movement would trigger this feat is that the next feat in the tree "Following Step" allows you to move up to 10' when using the "Step Up" feat.

There's been a fair bit of discussion on what the point of "Follwing Step" is. Why would one ever need to move 10' to follow someone who took a 5' step away from them? The only reason I can come up with is that it was meant to allow the PC to follow an NPC whose 5' step was a forward diagonal while still maintaining the same relative orientation to one another.

I think the feat's name leads on to believe it's only for giving chase whereas the intent was to allow for tactical repositioning.

I wondered if some folks might not see it that way...

The feat just says that the enemy must "Attempt to take a 5' step away from you". It doesn't say they must end their movement farther from you than they began it. Nor does it specify a restriction on the direction their movement takes them.

I'd assume as long as their 5' step takes them away in any direction, regardless of the direction, that it triggers the feat.

Can the feat "Step Up" be used if the 5' step away from you is to the left or right rather than directly away? Can it be used if the 5' step away from you is actually diagonal and past you?

Basically:

PC Fighter= @
Orc Shaman= %

A|B|C
D|%|E
F|@|G

Does the Orc only provoke the use of this feat if he moves into A, B, or C? Can I use the feat if he 5' steps into D, E, F, or G?

..."It's also clear that if you run one that you don't have a PC ready for then you hold the sheet."...

So when you say this do you mean that I could run an adventure today, hold on to the sheet, and apply it to a character I make with options from ultimate combat after it comes out?

There's tons of PFS at Diecon... like 18 total sessions. Check out Warhorn and get signed up for some. :)

I'll add my thanks as well. I wish I could have made it into another scenario or two, but the ones I made were a blast. Thanks to all :)
