Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

@ Tess & Nyssa:

Thanks for that. It was fun!

I'm sure you'll carry on having lots of fun!

Take care, then!

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

You guys enjoy!

It's been fun, but I'm going to bow out, just because my plate's full at the moment.

It has been a lot of fun, though!

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

@ Nyssa: The only snag was that the great majority of that damage came from ranged touch attack. And at that moment, I Bron and I were the only two up front. Oh well, these things happen to some characters. The time was up on one of my characters, that's all.

@ Alexis: I have a bunch of other builds I've tinkered with. Including an Ifrit bloodrager or sorcerer (fire elemental bloodline in either case, of course). I'm sure an Ifrit would be bound to get along famously (or infamously) with a Suli like Nyssa! :D

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

That's okay. I was in a bit of a sticky situation. As I saw it, I had three choices:

1. I could back up - and get killed.
2. I could charge in - and get killed.
3. I could stay put - and get killed.

At least I did some damage before the inevitable getting killed bit!

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

That's okay; this adventuring lark is a risky business, after all!

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

Sorry if I made anyone think I was walking away from this group. A new character would be fine. Čemifobbar's luck ran out, that's all.

I'll be busier than normal (in that boring "real life" stuff) for the next couple of weeks. Which is what I had in mind; I was too tired when I posted that last one.

I'll keep an eye open for what happens here.

════════════════════════════════════════

I also double checked my maths this morning (after some coffee, of course). Just to be absolutely positive I didn't make a mistake. He actually took more damage than I first thought.

Čemifobbar took 78 points of damage from three attacks (32, 24, and 10). Even at full pop, while in a blood rage, 49 is his maximum HP. So, those attacks would have dropped him to -29 HP. And his rage ending would have dropped that to -39 HP.

Too bad for Čemifobbar, of course. On the other hand, that's 78 HP that everyone else did not take. So it's not all bad, I figure.

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

That AP Was Fun! Seriously!

Someone PM me to let me know how the big battle went with Hellion. In case I forget to check in after this.

I can't see any possibility of Čemifobbar surviving the rapid succession of damage he took from Hellion.

It's just one of those things that happens in an RPG. I reckon that if there was no chance of player characters dying, a game like PF would be seriously dull and boring. The death of Čemifobbar doesn't bother me. It's got to happen to someone. So, why not me sometimes?

To save anyone asking "Do you want Čemifobbar brought back to life?" The answer is "No, absolutely not." That's just my playing style. I have studied heroic literature in the past. The select few heroes who returned from from the land of the dead are completely messed up. At best. So I just can't wrap my head around playing a resurrected character.

Anyway, it really was a good bit of fun taking part in this campaign.

Hope you enjoy the rest of the adventure path!

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

Extra! Extra! Read All About it!
Čemifobbar Died in Battle!

Unless I missed something spectacular, here's my maths:
• Hellion's first attack, after quick heal dropped him down to 13 HP
• The second attack, even with Windy Escape, did 24 HP, down to -11 HP
• Dropping below 0 HP caused him to …
• … go unconscious, thus ending his rage, which …
• … dropped him down to -21 HP
• His constitution was only 12, so death occurred at -12 HP
• Hellion's last shot was overkill, leaving him at -31 HP

It was a good run while it lasted.
But front-line types can't be expected to survive every battle.
At least I scuffed Hellion's armour a bit for the rest of you!

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

Reeling from the pain and power of Hellion's attacks, Čemifobbar runs past the robot he just smashed to pieces (Green), ignores the one trying to hit him (Red) and charges Hellion instead. Mostly to take advantage of Valt's Haste Spell

Gunshy 1: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (3) + 17 = 201d10 + 18 ⇒ (3) + 18 = 21
(charge, power attack, furious focus & bard song)

Gunshy 2: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 251d10 + 18 ⇒ (9) + 18 = 27
(power attack & bard song)

Don't know if Frightful Charger will affect Hellion or not, since I can't tell if it's technically alive or not. If Hellion is actually alive, then it could be staggered for 4 rounds.

I also gave Čemifobbar back 1 HP for fast heal.

@ GM Demonmoose: let me know if Windy Escape would've worked the last round against any of Hellion's attacks; that would be my second and last spell slot for the day.

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

@ GM Demonmoose: did my Windy Escape spell not work against any of Hellion's attacks? I posted that I'd use it against a ray attack of Hellion's, if that happened.

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

Čemifobbar goes into a bloodrage and charges one of the bots (Green), using Gunshy as his weapon of choice.

Gunshy: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 341d10 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23
Gunshy critical: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 211d10 + 16 ⇒ (8) + 16 = 24
Wow! First time I've landed a critical with Gunshy!
Charge, power attack & furious focus
Frightful Charger is probably irrelevant, since that works on living enemies
And the usual 1 HP per rage round fast healing

@ GM Demonmoose: if Čemifobbar takes a hit from that Hellion thingy, he will use his Windy Escape spell on himself.

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

Čemifobbar shrugs, casts Shield on himself and readies himself with Gunshy.

He will answer Hellion nonchalantly:
"If you're so mighty, why even ask something so painfully obvious?"

Should Hellion attack Čemifobbar directly, with one of those nasty rays or something, he'll cast Windy Escape on himself.

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

Čemifobbar will cast a Shield spell on himself as soon as battle is about to be joined.

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

"Strange he wouldn't have faced us before now, if he's that strong. But we've come this far, we may as well continue."

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

"You're welcome, Zagmaander lead on!"

Čemifobbar will quickly retrieve his falchion and follow behind Zagmaander and the others.

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

Hope you're feeling better soon!

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

Čemifobbar rushes to help Bron. He doesn't wast time picking up the falchion he had to drop but grabs Gunshy instead to attack the two chokers facing Bron.

Gunshy, furious focus: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 181d10 + 17 ⇒ (10) + 17 = 27
Gunshy, power attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 191d10 + 17 ⇒ (4) + 17 = 21
Include bonuses for power attack, bloodrage, bard song and haste spell. Hit 2 does not get the benefit of Furious Focus

And one more point fast heal from the bloodrage thing again.

The first should be staggered by Frightful Charger. I am guessing the second one would not be affected by Frightful Charger, since it's a bonus attack due to the Haste spell

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

Čemifobbar tries to break free of the Choker's Grasp
bloodrage CMB: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Hope that works; if it does, he'll step back 5 ft

got one HP back from fast healing

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

Čemifobbar decides he's needed most near Valt, since the largest numbers of them landed there. Grabbing his Falchion he moves to attack the choker grappling Valt.
+1 falchion: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (19) + 14 = 332d4 + 18 ⇒ (4, 3) + 18 = 25
(power attack, furious focus, and Alexis' bard song)
critical confirm: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 182d4 + 16 ⇒ (1, 2) + 16 = 19
If the choker actually survives that, it'll be staggered per the Frightful Charger power

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

"I'm about as ready as I can get, I suppose. If the rest of you are ready, I guess we should follow Zagmaander to end all this."

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

Čemifobbar looks briefly at Nyssa with a surprised expression, looking as pure as driven snow.

"Zagmaander here is quite intelligent. She knows full well neither of us can cast the spell she needs. But I, for my part, will keep my promise to do what I can to help her to secure the removal of her curse if she helps us all. Even if it means staying here as her hostage after defeating Hellion until one of our capable arcane friends remove her curse. It's the least I can do."

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

Čemifobbar raises his eyebrows in surprise entering the cavern. Taking in the sight, since he can in it quite well with his vision.

"I'm willing to trust you, Zagmaander. You could have attacked us earlier when we were completely unaware of you, but you choose not to do so."

"I'm glad you destroyed those panels. They caused us grief earlier. Curious that Hellion saw fit to enslave you. No matter. Finding a way to dispel your curse is all you ask. That is abundantly clear. What can you do to help us?"

diplomacy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

"We will do everything we can to fulfil our end of the bargain, Zagmaander. Lead the way!"

Looking at his friends on the landing above them, Čemifobbar says to them:
"No time to waste! Better shimmy down the rope over yonder that Nyssa and I used to get down here. Our new friend will help us against the Lords of Rust."

"I think we can trust Zagmaander. For now, at least. Turning her back on us tells me she trusts us. For now. And it looks like she's been suffering from being here too long and wants to leave our world with all speed. And I'll help her, I did give my word, after all."

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

"I'm willing to accept your offer, Xill. Since we have a common enemy.
diplomacy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
Don't know if that will butter up a Xill or not, but it's worth a go!

Speaking to the others, Čemifobbar says:
"Who can remove the curse from the Xill? It will ally with us against Hellion if we remove its curse and allow it to go back to its home."

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

"Good. Let's see what we can do, then."

Čemifobbar then shouts to the others, without taking his eyes off the Xill:
"HELLLLLOOOO? Tessara? Kharamell? Valt? Alexis? I think we could use your skills here. There's someone trapped down here who wants to help us fight Hellion."

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

Still wary of the creature, Čemifobbar, says "Well, Xill, if that's what you'd like to be called, it seems we have a common enemy. I for one am willing to listen to your proposition, if all you want is to go home."

knowledge (arcana) *: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
To see if he can recall anything about Xill; especially how one should or shouldn't deal with Xill.

diplomacy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
To try to butter him/her/it up; willing to give the Xill the benefit of the doubt, for now, because "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" idea.

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

Eyeing the strange creature warily, Čemifobbar lowers his Falchion some, but keeps it ready in his hands.

He then says "You'll forgive me and my friends for being wary of who and what we meet down here. So far, everyone down here has tried to kill us. But please, do tell us who, or what, you are and what your proposition might be."
diplomacy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26

"I don't really trust this THING, whatever it is. It must be what was painted by that pile of corpses."

I think I've got the Čemifobbar in the right part of the map, near Nyssa.

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

"I don't like the looks of this! Bodies exploding outward doesn't look at all right. There's probably something here waiting to attack us if we go back up the rope. Bron, I think you'd better warn the others of what we found here. We might need their help. I'd rather not get too close to those bodies either!"

Čemifobbar will pull out his falchion and look around (using his darkvision and low light vision) to see if he can spot anything animate (living or otherwise) in this cave.

perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

"We might as well have a quick look while the others are looking at all that fancy stuff. Can't understand any of anyway. I might as well go down first I'm the heaviest, with all my equipment. And I'm feeling in good form now, after the healing I've had. Nyssa and Bron, if you would be so kind as to cover me while I go down."

Čemifobbar will secure a rope on the railing and make sure it's well secure for supporting his weight, being the heaviest in the party with all his gear. Then he'll climb down, gear and all, to the floor below.
climb: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

I don't really need that wand, if Alexis would rather have it. I just thought that one combat-oriented wand would come in handy for a fighter who can use UMD.

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

@ Alexis:

Okay; I just thought that one wand would be more appropriate for the front line types like me.

Thinking about it. A lot of opposition might just wonder "what's this?" if they see a fighter type pulling out a magic wand.

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

"One way to get down there would be to shimmy down a rope. we should have plenty of that with us."

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

@ Kharamell:

Thanks for that. And the effort that you put into making that spreadsheet in the first place.

I've made sure to save the link this time. I have not spent as much time as I would've liked to learning how to use Google Drive and Google Docs; was there a way of marking that link in my Google drive to access it directly, instead of using a saved copy?

I just had a quick look through the list, and I didn't see anything there that I remember taking.

However, I figure Čemifobbar could use the Wand of Ray of Enfeeblement, so I've marked that on under his name in the "Distribution" Sheet. I also took the liberty of changing his name to include that funny "Č" character, and marking the name of that +1 greatclub as "Gunshy". Just for a wee bit of ambiance.

I also changed the name of "Sheet 1" to "Party Loot".

Was someone keeping track of the amount of actual cash money we've got in the pot?

Anyway, thanks for all that, Kharamell! It's an excellent model for me to use for other swag spreadsheets for other games!

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

The only potions I remember getting myself were ILW that given or bought by me specifically, and one Potion of Bull's Strength I got from one of the Orcs we killed at Birdfood's palace. Were those in the loot list? I didn't have a close look, obviously.

I forgot to save the loot list link; what was it again?

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

"Looks like this lower area is where they sacrificed their victims. Probably some other followers of Hellion hiding down there too, I should think."

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

Čemifobbar will look at the bodies he sees at the lower level to determine if they might died in battle or were part of some bizarre experiment.

perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

At least you don't need to worry about Čemifobbar hogging the cure potions!

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

"Quite right, Bron. This should be the room that Ettin and the Orcs we killed here had come out of. There might be something interesting inside."

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

Letting curiosity get the better of him, Čemifobbar goes to look in the room to the East that the Orc leader and Ettin came from (S7).

"Let's see what we have here…"

perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

"Thank you, Dinvaya!"
Čemifobbar knows now that she is oblivious to small talk.

moving along a bit

"That door is as good as any. Hopefully, nothing too nasty in there."

Čemifobbar will check the North Door Bron is indicating before opening it.
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

"Bron has helped me recover considerably. But I could use Dinvaya's help to heal me fully"

@ GM Demonmoose: I think a cure moderate wounds and maybe a cure light wounds from Dinvaya should be enough to get me back to full pop. Just 13 points shy of being at full HP.

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

@ Bron: that's very helpful! It's hard to come by Inflict Wounds for healing.

@ GM Demonmoose: I've adjusted my HP up 16, based on the above from Bron.

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

After using his few remaining rage rounds and a night's sleep, Čemifobbar regains 9 HP.

@ GM Demonmoose: Čemifobbar would probably need two to three Inflict moderate Wounds to get him up another 29 HP to be at full pop.

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

I'd still be in pretty sorry shape after just one night, wouldn't I? Unless someone had more potions of Inflict Light Wounds, or a some Infernal healing or something…

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

I'll definitely need to take the day off. Down to one HP, 4 bloodrage rounds left for the day, and both spell slots used up. What I will do, is used up my last 4 rage rounds to get back 4 HP of fast heal. It's not much, but it's something!

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

"I concur! I was not expecting to be in so many battles in such a short time."

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

Čemifobbar drinks his last potion of Inflict Light Wounds and comes out of his rage.
ILW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Between the potion, 1 HP fast healing and coming out of rage, he should be at one whole HP. Ouch!

Once he looks more composed, he too addresses Bron: "Yes, quite. Thank you for your appearance. My name is Čemifobbar. I fear I'm too exhausted and hurt, for now, to use anything other than my bow or sling. You seem to carry your own in combat, though."

fatigued status:
Bloodrage rounds left: 4/13 | HP 1/39 | AC 17 touch 11 ff 14 | CMD 20 CMB +9 | FORT +6 REFL +3 WILL +3

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

Čemifobbar, reeling from the blows he took, steps back 5 feet and then charges and attacks Draigs with Gunshy.
He will NOT use cleave this time, but just use the bonus attack from the Haste spell
Gunshy: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (11) + 16 = 271d10 + 17 ⇒ (5) + 17 = 22
Gunshy, haste: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 251d10 + 17 ⇒ (2) + 17 = 19
Both with Alexis' song, power attack, and the first hit uses Furious Focus; and the ettin should be staggered for two rounds from his Frightful Charger power

He then uses his Obscuring Mist power to provide cover for himself, being so badly hurt (1/3 for the day, 20 ft radius centered on himself).

Čemifobbar is in horrible shape right now!

hasted bloodrage status:
Bloodrage rounds left: 5/13 | HP 8/49 | AC 18 touch 12 ff 15 | CMD 23 CMB +11 | FORT +8 REFL +5 WILL +5
Gets one HP fast healing

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)

Being hastened, Čemifobbar will cleave and strike and then hit the second Orc with his bolstered speed:
Gunshy #1: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 261d10 + 17 ⇒ (6) + 17 = 23
Gunshy #2 cleave: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 221d10 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 18
Gunshy #3 bonus: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 161d10 + 17 ⇒ (8) + 17 = 25
All with Alexis' song, and first hit uses Furious Focus

hasted bloodrage status:
Bloodrage rounds left: 5/13 | HP 38/49 | AC 16 touch 12 ff 15 | CMD 23 CMB +11 | FORT +8 REFL +5 WILL +5
Gets another HP fast healing as well

Male Dhamphir Bloodrager (deceased)
