Exciting news! Today’s Deal of the Day on DriveThruRPG is the 5 Star rated 5e NPCs: Bullies & Brutes.

5e NPCs: Bullies & Brutes brings you 18 NPCs each with their own backstory, stat block and colour art. Custom abilities and unique histories make this a colourful collection of NPCs for your party to encounter.

There are over 35 pages of NPC content and while all of the characters in the book are a bully of some sort, some prefer brawn and others brain; challenges range from 1/2 to 15.

Love goblins? Or just looking for a little twist to throw at your PCs?

Check out this collection of goblin variants.

Almost always serving as slaves for stronger races, these little creatures have been left standing on the sidelines as fodder for first level parties, but there is so much potential beyond the standard version of the goblin; for that reason, Dire Rugrat Publishing brings you Moar Goblins.

Each with their own appearance, native habitat, and assortment of abilities, the creatures herein are not your typical goblin. This PDF includes 6 variant goblin types, 8 stat blocks, and challenges ranging from 1/2 to 5.

Spruce up your game, and surprise your players, with Moar Goblins!

If you are looking for NPCs that make decent foes, may I suggest 5e NPCs: Bullies & Brutes?

We're a bit biased, but Endzeitgeist gave it 5 stars saying: "in case you are not familiar with Dire Rugrat's 5e-character design philosophy: Instead of making just numbers and replicating pre-existing abilities, one of the charming peculiarities in their books would be that characters do actually receive special, unique abilities. Beyond these, the characters each come not only with a statblock, but also with their own artwork - these either are hand-drawn or stock. Most, but not all characters herein also feature a word of advice in a small box on how to best use them."

Some NPCs just seem like bland sacks of hit points, but creating custom abilities takes time not all GMs have.

Enter Advantageous Abilities!

This series of PDFs provides GMs a toolkit with which they can easily add feature abilities to monsters and NPCs, giving their NPCs an advantageous edge (or just a little role-playing fun).

Each product in this line has more than 15 themed feature abilities, and instructions that allow GMs to easily customize existing creatures or create all new foes.

Plus they are only $0.99.

Check them out today!

We all know the newest edition of the world's oldest roleplaying game is a little light on the NPCs right now.

We're here to help!

Most of these NPCs are new faces, but don’t be fooled by familiar names: any tavern favorites included have been remade to offer a new challenge level, colour art, and more backstory!

Until Sunday January 22 you can pick up 5e NPCs: Bullies & Brutes for the introductory price of $4.99.

I've sent prizes out to everybody who won 1st place except one person who hasn't replied to my PM.

I have seen a couple of reviews of products (thanks Oddman80, legoguy4492, and Nicos), so that's awesome! If I haven't seen your review, it's because Paizo doesn't have an easy way (that I know of) to see anything beyond the five most recent reviews.

Thanks again to everyone who participated and contributed! I hope to do this again next year.

Thanks for organizing this, Taig!

And a big thank you to those who have posted reviews.

It's our 1st birthday! While it took us awhile to foray into the world of 5th edition, we have converted all of our taverns over to this system, and they have been well received.

In celebration of our birthday, all of our products (yep, all of them, including all of our 5th edition compatible products) are all 10% off on DriveThruRPG.

PLUS, we are giving away a few copies of our products. Check that thread out here.

We want you to help us celebrate, so in addition to the great deals above, we here at dire rugrat publishing want to offer the first five people who comment below their choice of one of our products.

It's easy!

1) Just write a comment saying which one of our taverns (or other products) is your favourite, and why, and/or write a comment saying what sort of tavern (or other product) you'd like to see from us soon.

2) Include which product of ours you'd like a complimentary copy of.

That's it.

Tavern Tales - Mini Adventures

Tavern Tales - Mini Adventures are two page 5e compatible adventures designed to accompany various Tangible Taverns by Dire Rugrat Publishing but may be easily inserted into your own tavern or campaign.

Tavern Tales - Mini Adventure #1: A Thief in the Night

Several cases of delicious blackberry preserves have gone missing from Blackberry Bill’s. Braybin, the freckle-faced server, asks the PCs to help to discover who is responsible and to get the jam back before Blackberry Bill notices – and reminds the townsfolk why he was formerly known as Butcher Bill.

A Thief in the Night is designed to accompany Tangible Taverns: Trio of Taverns and is suitable for four 3rd level characters.

Tavern Tales - Mini Adventure #2: What a Trip!

Cerulean, the master musician of Simon’s Dinner Theatre, needs the PCs to retrieve a bag of mushrooms from his house before the evening’s performance begins. Can the PCs navigate his home, and fend off the strange creatures who reside there, before the lights dim in the performance hall?

What a Trip! is designed to accompany Tangible Taverns: Simon’s Dinner Theatre and is suitable for four 2nd level characters.

Tavern Tales - Mini Adventure #3: It Starts With a Barroom Brawl

When the motley group of "heroes" that burned down Tuffy's previous establishment return to town, the tavern owner offers a reward to the PCs for their capture. Can they save the dingy dive from meeting the same fate as Tuffy's old joint? Or will Tuffy be forced to find a new place to pickle her pigs feet?

It Starts With a Brawl is designed to accompany Tangible Taverns: Tuffy’s Good Time Palace and is suitable for four characters of level 4-5.

Tavern Tales - Mini Adventure: The Troubleshooters

When the deal of a lifetime is put in jeopardy, local businessman Demetrius Flannigan hires the PCs to ensure the meeting goes smoothly. Can the adventurers stop an interfering rival, and ensure the other party, a skittish elf with access to important information, doesn’t abandon the deal?

The Troubleshooters is designed to accompany Tangible Taverns: Trio of Taverns and is suitable for four characters of level 5-6.

Tangible Taverns
At some point in your campaign, your PCs are probably going to stop off for a drink and a bite to eat at a local tavern. Instead of just deducting a few gold pieces and letting your PCs regain some spells, give them a chance to explore and interact with the city around them. These PDFs include a rumour and event tables, a tavern map, and unique and colourful NPCs ready to be slotted into the tavern.

Tangible Taverns: The Bull & The Bear

The Bull & The Bear details a comfortable tavern complete with a discrete brothel.

Tangible Taverns: Tuffy's Good Time Palace

We all know the wrong side of town can be a great place to off load that ill-gotten treasure, pick up some information, or hire a little assistance for a dirty job. Tangible Taverns: Tuffy's Good Time Palace brings a little life to a place few dare to frequent. From an organized gang of street thugs, to a brawler who dabbles in the art of pickling, to an all-woman mercenary outfit, to uncoordinated table dancers and the inept piano player, there’s a little something for everyone at Tuffy’s Good Time Palace.

The only question is: are your PCs brave enough to try the pickled pig’s feet or will they just turn tail and leave a dingy dive like Tuffy’s for greener pastures (or cleaner glasses)?

Tangible Taverns: Tuffy's Good Time Palace details a dilapidated tavern filled with the city's least desirables. The drinks are terrible, the food is limited to the pickled variety, and not a soul would bat an eye at stealing your coin purse.

This book includes detailed information on a local gang and its leader, the town healer (who could be more than he seems), and of course the memorable tavern employees (including Tuffy herself).

Tangible Taverns: Trio of Tavern

Trio of Taverns, features not one, but, you guessed it, three taverns. Give your players the chance to explore what happens when a capable barbarian known for beheading his opponents falls in love with jam making and settles down to open his own shop, or let your players try to seduce a city noble by taking her to the classiest and most romantic tavern in town, or just stick with the basics and let them dance the night away with great entertainment and delicious food, while avoiding the shadier elements.

Tangible Taverns: Simon's Dinner Theatre

Maybe one or two of your PCs are looking to spend that hard earned loot on something a little fancier, or at least less run of the mill than a stew and some ale.
Tangible Taverns: Simon's Dinner Theatre details a delightful dinner theatre with fantastic food. Give the PCs a chance to take in a play and enjoy a little culture before they set out to destroy that foul creature they are hunting.

We have also included a dozen play titles and descriptions so you can let your players know what their characters are viewing.

Happy gaming!

It's finally been converted... and it features 9 unique NPCs and custom abilities.

Tangible Taverns: Trio of Taverns brings you three smaller scale taverns each with rumour and event tables, a tavern map, and a description of frequent faces about the establishment (which include names, physical features and personalities for some tavern employees and patrons).

Dire Rugrat Publishing has launched a line of mini adventures. These two page minis are the perfect fit with our Tangible Taverns, but can easily be dropped into just about any campaign when you need a little inspiration or a quick side quest.

Or grab a bundle of taverns. It's almost as satisfying as watching your party's rogue succeed at filching a coin purse that turns out to be stuffed platinum pieces.

Same old story — the PCs venture into town, they find a room to rent and grab a few drinks and a decent meal before settling into a comfortable bed for the night. They wake up, sell some loot, and venture on their way. But what if, instead of just deducting a few gold pieces and letting your PCs regain some spells, you give them a chance to explore and interact with the city around them? What if you let them hear tales of other adventurers (be they entirely fictional or inspired by local heroes), give them a chance to use those Knowledge (local) or Perform (acting) skills, or allow the weary travellers to just be entertained by amusing actors?

The latest in the Tangible Taverns line is a dinner theatre. That’s right, a dinner theatre. Don’t worry; it still serves food and drinks. Plus we have provided a brief synopsis of various plays so you have an answer ready when your players ask what the show was about.

Join us as we embark on an entertaining evening at the local dinner theatre in Tangible Taverns: Simon's Dinner Theatre.

Haven't checked out our other taverns yet? Why not do it now?

The fourth instalment in our Tangible Taverns line details a delightful dinner theatre with fantastic food. As always, we have included rumour and event tables, a tavern map, and descriptions of frequent faces about the establishment (which include names, physical features and personalities for the actors). For all of those fans who were enjoying our Tangible Taverns line, get ready.... we are finally releasing the next instalment in the series!

Our rugrats have been keeping us busy, and we do apologize for the delay, but we think this next tavern has a twist you'll love.

More details are coming in the next couple of days, but in the meantime you can still check out The Bull & The Bear, Tuffy's Good Time Palace, and Trio of Taverns.

The Bull & The Bear:
The favorite post-show hang-out of the local theatre crowd is The Bull & The Bear, a comfortable tavern, complete with a discrete brothel. The drinks are cold, the food is delicious, the staff are attractive, and like all of our taverns, there are hooks for GMs to develop into mini quests, side tangents or just good old fashioned role-playing if your PCs are craving a change of pace.
After a long trek on the road, or days traipsing through dungeons and caves, or near-death experiences with an organized band of goblins, sometimes your players just want a little comfort, a little relaxation, and some good company.

Tuffy's Good Time Palace:
Why would the PCs visit a derelict tavern where drinks are terrible, the food is limited to the pickled variety, and not a soul would bat an eye at stealing their coin purse?  Perhaps it is the only one in town, perhaps the PCs offended a server or owner of a more reputable establishment and are no longer welcome, maybe they need to get their hands on something only the city's criminal element can get for them, or maybe they fancy themselves the city's criminal element. There could also be the slim chance they like bad beer and pickles. Regardless of the reason, we think every GM will enjoy giving their players an evening they won't forget at Tuffy's Good Time Palace.

Trio of Taverns:
Give your players the chance to explore what happens when a capable barbarian known for beheading his opponents falls in love with jam making and settles down to open his own shop, or let your players try to seduce a city noble by taking her to the classiest and most romantic tavern in town, or just stick with the basics and let them dance the night away with great entertainment and delicious food while avoiding the shadier elements.
This book also includes “More Faces at the Tavern”, a section with several colourful NPCs including “Dizzy Izzy” the not so loveable grifter, Sir Kristoff Ingram Packard, the delusional aristocrat and man about town, and the freakishly chipper, future sausage eating champion, Daledalae. The NPCs are at a variety of levels and are ready to be dropped into any of our taverns, or yours, for a little added role-playing.

Keep your eyes peeled... The next Tangible Tavern is going to be a whole lot of fun!

Hooray! Thank you!

JGray wrote:
So, those of you who review! I salute you. Thank you. Those of you who haven't, please consider doing so. We don't need novels but any feedback helps.

Hear, hear!

And a review is also available for Tangible Taverns: Trio of Taverns (thanks to Rednal for that!), so if you are trying to prep for your next game session consider checking out all or some the reviews and then pick up one (or three) of our Tangible Taverns.

If you are super eager for Trio of Taverns (and we love you if you are), it is already available over on DriveThruRPG/RPGNow.

We were super excited to see a new review for Tangible Taverns: Tuffy's Good Time Palace today. A big thanks to Crai for that. Check out his review now and think about picking up a copy of this great tavern. Sure I'm a little biased, but there are three reviews there now to help you make up your mind.

We are also delighted to announce that the third installment of Tangible Taverns has been released. Tangible Taverns: Trio of Taverns features three taverns rather than one. There's a bit less detail on each one, but still lots for a GM to work with. There are also a whole bunch of interesting tavern patrons who can be used in any of our taverns (or yours), which can save you a bit of prep time and make the tavern feel alive.

I don't think Trio of Taverns will show up on Paizo this weekend, so keep an eye out for it next week.

Happy Friday everyone!
